My name is Deborah Taliani from Just get Married in Italy, a destination wedding planner. This video is for couples that want to get married in Italy but they don’t know how it works, where to start and how to budget for it.
Let’s start from the ceremony. In Italy, you can have a civil, a catholic or a symbolic ceremony. A civil or a catholic marriage will be legally valid worldwide. These types of ceremonies will require some legal and religious paperwork. While a symbolic ceremony is for couples that still want to get married in a beautiful location in Italy, without a legal or religious commitment.
The most frequent query I get from couples is how to budget for a wedding in Italy or how much it costs. Well, that depends on you as we can accommodate any budget.
Bear in mind that 50-60% of the budget will be gone for the reception. So more people you invite, more expensive the wedding will be. Also, something that will influence your budget is the style of wedding you have in mind and the location. Surprisingly, big cities like Rome are more budget friendly than small towns like Siena. This is easy to understand: more competitors in the wedding industry, makes the prices for services, suppliers and venues more competitive. So, it’s much easier to find a quote that matches your budget in Rome, than in Siena. Getting married in Florence, Naples or Rome, will also save you money in travel costs and accommodation. What I usually suggest is getting married in Florence, Naples or Rome and leave the Amalfi Coast or the beautiful countryside for the honeymoon. Easy! This will save you a lot!
For Elope weddings , we offer an all-inclusive package so the couples have the final cost upfront.
So, the first rule for a destination wedding is setting a budget. Once you know that, you can work on the number of people to invite, the style of wedding and the location. If you do the other way round, it will be hard to stick to a budget that may turn up unrealistic on the long run.
Is it cheaper to get married on a weekday? Not Really! It is cheaper to get married during off-season. The best period is September/October/March/April/May, but you can still find nice weather in November/December/February in the south of Italy. The months to avoid are July and August, which are the most expensive. If you want to save on Town hall fees, opt for a ceremony during office hours, which is usually from 9 am to12pm or from 4pm to 6pm, depending on the location. While for a church wedding, the fee is fixed.
Having a destination wedding planner, will give you full peace of mind on the wedding day and a stress free planning. We are local, we speak Italian, we know how the wedding industry works in Italy. We know what contract you should sign, what policy you should agree to, and the right quote for what you are asking.
Our services are tailor-made to what you really need, this will also make you save on planning services you won’t need. We can assist you with the legal side only, with part or full planning or you can only book a wedding day management service. This will help you save on this part. Plus, we work with any venue and supplier giving you freedom of choice.
