@@chadkincham This makes me feel better. My grandpa always says that he retired because he felt bad about blocking Logano and wrecking at Homestead in 2016.
Chillin ain't happiness. I guarantee his most happy was when he was in the grind racing. Guy has less and less to hang his hat on as time goes by. Big mistake.
Mr Edwards Sir I’ve watched you forever and when you left nascar lost one of the few just all around good guys. Thank you for doing this interview and I hope to see you back in any capacity.
Carl is a legitimate driver and I would hate to see him re-enter NASCAR in the current condition or they are not focusing on driving abilities but trying to make it scientific for no reason
My favorite moment was when he WON the nascar championship oh wait the phantom caution took it away from him. But still in my eyes he's a nascar champion
Well he WAS going to be champion, He had like a seven second insurmountable lead at Homestead with plenty of gas and tires to make it to the checkers till NASCAR threw a totally unnecessary caution for some backmarker who was heading into the pits anyway. His crew lost him the lead & he got tangled up with Joey before turn one on the restart.
I'll tell ya, you MUST RESPECT this man, above all. Having a championship pulled right out from under him like he had done... DIRTY POOL. And to come out and be so cool about it, even years after the fact, CLASS ACT. And FYI, I never was really a fan of his- nothing against him at all, just not my driver. But he ALWAYS made the sport BETTER with his presence... bet NASCAR would do it different if they had a re-do
"If NASCAR would make the car's about 1,000 hp and no downforce..." But all us old school fans who KEEP SAYING this package is trash are just all wrong right? LOL.
The only driver to actually try a "Video game" pass on jimmie johnson he said in the game you can use the wall to turn so he figured nothing to lose by to try it that was hands down the ballsiest move I've ever seen a driver make he's the man!!!!
Glad I got to see this. I tried to watch it on FS1 the other day, but my local cable company was so screwed up, it was all garbled. I was a HUGE Carl Edwards fan and still miss him on the track.
I miss Carl Edwards. Je was a great racer and had such a great on tv personality and so well spoken. I wish he would have transferred to TV broadcasting
I really miss seeing Carl out there kicking butt on the track. Always exciting to watch. A friend of mine used to race against him before nascar, before Mitler Brothers. Racing dirt super late models and modifieds in Columbia and Moberly Missouri. I wish you the best in life. Would love to see you on the track again.
Definitely would love to see him race again. He was so very close , I wish he'd hung in there longer. Runner up to Tony Stewart , and then following year final laps took out by Joey Logano leading to Jimmie Johnson 7th which was in the 3rd position at time. I have always wondered what the following year might have been.......
I remember this kid from Missouri driving for Mike Mittler in the truck series. What a talented guy back then and a real down to earth fellow. Come on Carl, someone can put you in a good car for Circuit of Americas and Knoxville.
Carl’s story has been one that has fascinated me since his announcement. It’s hard to fathom making a decision like he did while at the top of his game. So many “what if” scenarios to be considered. I’d love to see a completely candid interview with him about his path.
Edwards was the no fear driver out there. I still remember him pulling a huge dive down and slide up job on Jimmie Johnson going for the win. I think it was Atlanta. But ya we miss his driving especially at roush
You can tell from Carl's comment that he really wants to see more horsepower and less downforce in these Cup cars. Even driving the Cup cars on iRacing, they hardly require any talent in managing the car. I hope that's something NASCAR is keeping in mind with these Gen 7 cars. They better have the hp and slide around. I can't stand drivers being full throttle for 80% of the lap when it should really be 60% of a lap full throttle.
Hated that the one to beat him for the championship as close as Carl was to winning it was my man Tony Stewart. The next generation of fans will be stunned to learn he’s never won a championship.
Carl Edwards is a calm pleasant person in the NASCAR series at least he won the title in the NASCAR Busch series in 2007 with lots of wins in all three series
Wish Carl would have never left. Also wish a reporter would ask him the hard question and get an answer out of him. Carl why did you leave NASCAR. Did it have anything to do with NASCAR stealing the championship from you with one of their famous deris cautions that they were so famous for? The was the beginning of the end for me.
5:04 Drivers keep hinting that they want NASCAR to go with higher horsepower and NASCAR just doesn't want to listen. Instead they slap on restrictor plates. I get the Superspeedways have to have them but they are using them at every track now it's getting ridiculous.
1000 hp less downforce ! Miss watching racers throw the car into turns and catch em coming out slideways in the 1980s. (also F1 still had shifters) Favorite race was watching Tim and Dale at riverside !! Carl was my fav, now Martin Truex. P.S way to win ROC ! euro commentators couldnt take it .
I miss Carl Edwards. He was my favorite driver to watch after Dale Jarrett retired. It seems like all the drivers I've ever liked in NASCAR have retired shortly after my following them, so now I like Kyle Busch hoping he'll retire soon. lol
What is your favorite Carl Edwards moment?

I miss seeing Carl drive. He is genuinely a good guy. I wish him well in anything he chooses to do.
I could see Carl becoming a “Road Warrior” like Boris Said, Ron Fellows, etc. That would be so cool
Oh hey dude 👋
Yeah that’s not happening
Carl was a pretty good road racer.
His doctor wife made him retire from racing because of concussion concerns, so it’s doubtful he’d ever race again.

Carl Edward is the man I really miss watching him on the track Wishing Carl and his family well
Great to see Carl doing well!
Does he not look like he would have been a Navy Seal or Army Ranger in another life? He's got that pure American look.
He really does
He was a professional athlete
Haha yeah he does. That haircut definitely helps.
That's funny that you mention that... he played a special agent on 24 with Keifer Sutherland, back in the day... (2006)
For sure. First thing I noticed is how fit he looks!
Good for him. Instead of chasing the dollar he’s just chasing happiness and chillin’.
Mighty dollar he left with 100 million
He's already made his money. He's beyond comfortable for life. No need to go "chasing" anything when you have that kind of bankroll...
