Sat afternoon 2pm show, doors didnt open until after 2pm. Apparently last minute. sub for the lead. Turns out they later canceled the pm performance. Front Row Seat. Pleasantly surprised. Not about the Britney music, and the choreography was repetitive, but it was fun and lighthearted and doesnt require any brain activity to enjoy. Surprised by how good Justin was. Songs are ok. But I had 4 subs that day for the leads so would be nice to see the actual original leads. But for what it was and after the long wait it was cute and had some laughs.
That night they had too many sick cast, and not enough understudies. In one case, the understudy for one character was also sick so they canceled the show that night. Glad you enjoyed it anyway.
What a sterling and comprehensive review. The New York Times review was somewhat negative. Some of those who commented and saw the show disagreed. I responded by linking them to your video for what I think might be the more fair assessment.
Wow, thank you very much! I appreciate that from the bottom of my heart!
@@onemansopinion8135 Aw, shucks! What a great response. You have become my favorite source for Broadway balanced open-minded Broadway critique so it made sense to send people a link to your channel/review.
I saw this last night. It was incredibly high energy and very enjoyable. However, to me anyway, the book has some issues. I appreciate the message but I feel they came about it in a very cliched way. The biggest plot hole to me was that they are basically just actors telling their story. It us immediately revealed (so I don't feel this is a spoiler) that they reenact these stories for the reader at the reader's choice. To me, there was never a compelling argument for why they had to live in versions of their storybook selves between readings. I mean they gave been doing this for hundreds of years, I kind of buy why to start with that they might not realize there is something else. However, once they are longing to change their stories, why can't they just be who they want during their downtime and just act out the (yes, problematic but still beloved) stories when the reader wants them. I do love how they ended it (and I won't spoil that). I just never could reconcile that hole.
