    I think they sound great. Some people hate them but every cymbal has its own sound and can be used in different situations where you need THAT type of sound.

    despite what some people are saying, this actually gives a good idea of what the cymbals actually sound like. i have the exact same set, and this is basically what they sound like. my ride sounds EXACTLY the same, but the crash and the hi hat have a little more ring than this video shows

    My advice is if you want good cymbals and don't mind buying used.. guitar center offers steals online in the used section, ebay and craigslist has broke and desperate musicians looking for ways to make a quick buck for a bill or concert and you can always look in your own neighborhood for pawn shops, swap meets, and even yard sales. You don't have to settle for new, cheap cymbals when you can get nice cymbals in bargains. Do you really think people will be looking from behind the kit to see the freshly painted logo or hear the sound being produced? At least, that's my two cents. This route takes longer than buying a box set of ZBT's, MCS', or PST's and having everything looking complete but sounds and feels a million times better. And if you're a beginner looking to start buying, all you need is a hi hat, a crash and a ride. Anything else is preference. Your life doesn't depend on four crash cymbals a China and a loud ride to impress your Metallica friends

    you have to consider that this is an entry level cymbal set. so , i don't think they suond terrible, i think they sound good for the price that you pay for them. so if you need a set up to study on your drums and you don't want to brake your exensive cymbals this is a good choice. they are well made.

    Well now they have bronze for HCS. I have a 20 HCS brass ride, I did add some hammering/buffering and it's really different sound. I have heard some old Japan brass rides that are cool. In the 90s these were called Meinl Meteor.

    I own a set of HCS cymbals. I have 13" hats, 14" & 16" crashes, 10" splash and 20" ride. I love my Meinl cymbals. I am a former Zildjian cymbal fan.

    @drummaryan Check out the Meinl Classics, Classics Custom, MB8, Soundcaster, MB10, the Paiste 2002, Rude, Signature, Giant Beat and Alpha lines. These are all "sheet rolled" cymbals. If you think about it, all metal was "cast" at one point, because all metals are a mixture of elements, at least when it comes to cymbals.

    My paiste rude crash was lost at the airport and the hcs crash was the only available cymbal that the local music store had and i have to say, it is a very solid crash. However its entry level so it did stick out compared to my rudes and my bysance cymbals

    Trust me guys, the hi hats sound sooooooo much better in person than in this video. I have these hats and they sound completely different than the ones here. And by different, I mean better. The video makes them sound like cheap, crappy ones. But they sound way better and I actually prefer them over a good portion of their higher up cymbals

      maybe you're hitting it with the tip of the stick, you should hit the edge of the cymbal with the neck of the stick
      otherwise, it must be a matter of the sound mix of this video, cause the same cymbal should have also the same sound
      hope i helped you

    Use a HCS ride and Wuhan crash and china and zbt hi-hat and you've successful made a very decent, super cheap, beginner/screw around setup!

    • @nataIieatbest
      @nataIieatbest 5 років тому

      what’s wrong with zbt hi hats?

  • @gaberowland5410
    @gaberowland5410 8 років тому +6

    I don't know why you all like these... I have a 14" hi-hat set 16" crash and a 22" ride and they are the worst. They are incredibly thick and have almost no resonation at all. The crash is most certainly the worst of them all. The bell on the ride is horrific and the hats are the only decent part of it, but they're so heavy that they disconnect the screw holding them onto the pedal and rod that they fall off while I play. If you want good cymbals go with the Zildjian A Custom series. A little pricy but totally worth it

    • @g00dGuY34
      @g00dGuY34 7 років тому +12

      you are a fucking buffoon comparing HCS to A customs. Hey your Toyota Corolla is nice and all, but if you really want a good car you should get a Maserati. A little pricey, but totally worth it!

    • @kylecurran6747
      @kylecurran6747 6 років тому +8

      Correction; you should’ve recommended the ZBT line, not A customs. Because when you step up into the pricey range, Meinl destroys the K line with their Byzance and custom series.

    The cymbals aren't that bad... I personally do own the same exact set, with the 8" splash, and their really meant for beginners. I got them because i couldn't really afford anything too expensive atm. The cymbals sounds really decent if your behind a pexi glass, and of course if your mic'd. Even if your playing in an acoustic sounding place, it would sound decent for it's price. I added a Sabian B8 16' Medium Crash, and swapped out the Hihats, to Sabian B8 14' Hihats. It's a decent set, though.

    I have this setup, i bought them for £150 (roughly $225) which i think is fair, when i first got them i was like "omg i hate them" but i gave them a chance, i use them all the time, the hats are great and the ride is gorgeous (especially for someone who uses the bell alot),the crash is just a bit fast, it don't ring alot but is better than the crash from the sabian solar series, for the amount of money they're worth it, apparently the MCS series is better. but i love these cymbals. worth trying.

    These are the best sounding brass cymbals on the market, to my ears. I like the slightly trashy sound of brass hi hats and used a pair of 60's brass hats until they cracked; that crash cymbal sounds god awful, the ride has a surprisingly nice sounding bell, the rest of the ride is okay, pretty fast and dry. I will probably buy a set of these... and use the crash as a wall decoration!
