Oh yes! 125s rule. What a lovely little bike. You are a lucky man, you have a wife who is prepared to ride a motorbike, AND she lets you have a go on it. She deserves 11/10. Les 🇬🇧
Yeah, the pushrod motor is pretty bomb proof. My CB through its cam chain off a worn top sprocket causing a fair degree of damage. Not much difference in power either really, just a bit more top end.
I never rode an XL125 but did have a 1989 MTX125 also with Pro link suspension back in 2004, that was the bike I passed my test on. I brought a new CBF125 in 2013 which I ran alongside a Triumph Rocket 3, I even rode the CBF to Norway from the UK. I wouldn't mind a XR125 as a little adventure bike.
I was tooling around cwmbran on a cg125 identical to yours, some mates had the xl125 r,one had a tl125 ,another cg125 and a ke 100,we thought we were the kiddies alright, seems lads go straight to cars now,im still biking at 60 with a royal enfield 650gt and a bmw r100rs
Hi Rich. A joy to be reminded! I had a 77 xl 125, twin shock, orange tear drop tank. When i moved to London from Blackpool, i rode the A6 having a pint in as many Boddies pubs as i remembered to stop at...I don't remember how many that was......
@@rustynuts82 yeah not a great fairing! On another note: i contacted you last year about sharing a ride down your way, on my GS 1250. Well...had it nicked for the 3rd time in March. Can no longer get any kind of theft insurance, tho undeterred (foool) I've bought the ancestor that came out in my late teens...R80 GS and am still up for getting it dirty..assuming i can hang on to it!
@@bigberthaontourHey! BB on tour! Another very lucky man with a wife who rides bikes. Will we ever get to see the four of you off road on those great bikes?? Les

I am a very lucky man, especially now that I can have a go on the XL !
Man I wish me and my wifey are like this when I'm older
Just keep doing daft stuff and you will be !
I fitted my xl125 with a cg125 engine, it was excellent. Cg reliability with XL looks.

Wow, CBF to Norway! No need for a GS it turns out 👍 The little XL is actually a peach off road, so light and nimble but just enough torque.
@@rustynuts82 I did take the CBF off road when wild camping but would imagine the XL could do it much easier.
Yes, the suspension is surprisingly good considering its age. Very soft but quite well damped

Nice, the Conti is a decent bike as is the RS. But ragging around at 17 on a cheapo jap was a lot of fun.
My first bike was an 83 XL125R. Learned in mid Wales, road and trails.
Thats a proper introduction to the joys of motorcycling. Did you do the infamous Strata Florida on it ?
@rustynuts82 No, I was a bit further North, did a lot around Machynlleth and Plynlimon. Wish I still had it.
@jbenn43457 yeah, the green desert of Wales! Lovely around there, next time the Mrs wants to have ago up there.
CB125 superdream for me. 10 years and many bikes later, we're on a T7 world raid. Great vid 🤙

Great little bikes those Honda singles. I did a similar long trip on my CB125. Derby to St Davids, 250 miles mostly in the rain!

@@touchingthecloth 80GS hey! Yeah, a good candidate for some byway action in mid wales 👍
My 1st bike was an XL100S happy days, 1984. I've had all sorts since, now an Aprilia Pegaso 660! Great video...
Thanks. I had an F650 which was basically the same as the Aprilia. Went to Morocco on that bike.
Love my 82 XL250R.. the 125 looks to be the little brother.
Think I need the 250 version to keep up with the Mrs!
@@rustynuts82 only reason I got mine is to keep up with my boy. My ATV wasn't enough. Haha
Looking absolutely beautiful on that bike Jane bbz! Cute bike, cute lady Xxxx
Suits her very well doesn’t it, although the kick start is a bit high. She rode through the river with me on the back!
Poor Jane…why does Jane need to know if it’s got an overhead cam engine?! Let her ride the damn bike 🤣
Great vid 💪
Jane loves a good engine. She knows a LOT about multi-jet diesels but is new to the delights of little four stroke Hondas.
@@rustynuts82 Looking forward to the Alfa Romeo video next!
My first bike was the 185 version back in 1985 as a 15 yr old....naturaly i killed it and then bought an ex NZ police cb 650
Was it the dreaded cam sprocket wearing out allowing the chain to jump off that killed it?
@@rustynuts82 no, i crashed into a mate while messing about and we both went to hospital ...oh to be young and stupid again! 👍😆
I could whine about you making fun of women, blah, blah, blah, but she was laughing so it's okay....
Strange angle ?
@jamesonpace726 I don’t see how it’s making fun of women, maybe Jane a little but she’s got a sense of humour and can kick his ass if she needs to!
Correct!
