I have stage 4 breast cancer and I’m a teacher on top of it. When you said if you’re going through difficult times, something better will come. Well, my students have been amazing lately and my last pet scan was good. I’m still kind of depressed, but I’m hopeful. Your cheery house makes me happy.

I'm so glad you shared the cardinal story because I thought it was just a southern thing. We always had a huge male cardinal sit outside our window day in and day out. We started saying it was my husband grandfather who passed in 2010. About a week after my granny died, there was a female cardinal with him all of a sudden. When I tell you they watched us - it was wild! If we were outside, they were on the roof. If we were inside, they were sitting outside the window. 🥰

I’ve grown up & lived in Alabama my whole life - and yes the Cardinal thing is part of our folklore. So cool that it’s in Canada too. My parents passed away in 2013 & 2014. We have a male & female that visit us often - especially when my girls are home. Both of my parents loved cardinals! Coincidence? I don’t think so. Thank you for sharing your cardinal experience with us. I’m super excited to see your house coming together! ❤😊

My beloved uncle sadly passed this summer and on the day he died I saw the biggest cardinal I've ever seen on the ground from the second story hospital window. He had the spikiest feathers on his head which is so fitting because my uncle always had crazy spiky hair. I feel like it was his way of telling me he was still with us💗 On the same day my cousin, who wasn't aware of the situation yet, experienced a pigeon falling on her head as she walked into work. The receptionist saw it happen and was like "did I just see what I thought is saw??". My uncle was a huge jokester, especially with her. We all believe it was a sign from him.

Fireplace: you need the large log, then two smaller pieces, then like dried twigs (kindling). Put the big log in the back, two smaller logs in front, stuff the kindling under the logs that’s are sitting in the log stand. (Also don’t shovel out all the ash when you clean it that make the fire harder to light. then used like a piece of notebook paper right in front of the kindling (twist the paper so it kinda looks like a rope… you can also use paper bag from the grocery store) anyway you’ll gave a great fire! I grew up on a farm we had an open brick fireplace in the living room. Winter fires make me think of my grannies farm 😊 good luck with your fireplace! We love your videos 🎉🎉🎉

Yeh @AngieBellemare Scrunch paper first then place fire starters throughout put kindling and twigs then bigger pieces till burns enough for the solid pieces

Why would removing ash make harder to start the fire?

If fire is smoking, it needs more air. Should be some way to adjust for that. Make sure inside fireplace/stove damper is all the way open.

I grew up in Montana and have had a fireplace for most of my life! Best tip is to keep all the paper from random newspapers and that paper that comes in Amazon boxes, and tie paper into a knot. Put that at the bottom and make a teepee with little twigs, you should be able to find plenty to dry out under all your trees. Dried out pine cones also make a good starter. Then teepee the larger logs over that, leaving lots of room for air to flow. Light the paper, and because it is in a knot, it should burn long enough to ignite the little twigs, which will burn long enough to ignite the logs. Good luck! 😊

From what I know, the story of a loved one coming back as a cardinal is pretty common. I've heard this a lot growing up, and my mom swears my Omi (grandmom) is visiting her every time she sees one. My grandfather, my Omi's husband, was buried in Arlington Cemetery because he was a medic in WWII, and during my Omi's service, a cardinal was perched on my grandfathers' headstone. It was my first time I ever truly experienced & believed in an afterlife. It was just too coincidental to not be real. That had to be my Omi.

For a fire: crinkled up paper or news paper, then small dry wood (kindling), once that’s on fire add a bigger log. Start small then go big logs!

I absolutely am enjoying your videos! Your joy is infectious. I was thinking about your area by the fireplace. You should do two large leather sofas that face each other that are low profile like a chesterfield that won’t obstruct the view. And then do a large chunky wood coffee table in the middle to do puzzles or Lego or board games. Then have two large wing back chairs with a plaid upholstery on either side of the fireplace. I can’t wait to see how you furnish the house!! We moved to the country in December 2020 and have learned a lot!! lol. We have definitely accumulated a lot of things we never expected to have like a log splitter, chain saw, tractor, etc. can’t wait to see or hear about all the wildlife you start seeing. We have deer in our backyard almost every evening and woke up to a bunch of turkey just walking around our front yard. Love your new adventures ❤

A quick, easy way to start the fire beside using Kinley

Easy fire hack: dryer lint + Vaseline or Aquafor (petroleum jelly) in a cardboard tube or cardboard egg carton section. The dryer lint lights fast. The petroleum jelly burns slow. The cardboard tube contains it all, and you have time to build the fire by adding sticks and then logs. Easiest fire everrr! ❤ a Girl Scout dropout

Even without the furniture, it's all coming together ❤ Just a suggestion ( what do I know) we have a loft looking down on a bigger living room and we started out with the TV up in the loft. As much as you use your TV? I would put it on the main floor above the fireplace. We felt like we had this huge ginormous room that we never used as we always unwind wherever the TV was. Plus, we use the loft for projects, so if we're working on something, we keep the mess up there and it's out of the main big living space. The loft is also where I go to read, it feels like a cozy little escape, compared to the big living room. Plus my husband has his gun corner where he cleans his guns, ... sorry to ramble. Loving this new exciting adventure ❤

I think your loft tv would be best centered on the wall between the two doors with a large rug centered in the room. Large sofa with 2 chairs. I would focus all the seating in the center of the room instead of creating 2 separate zones.
You can do a set of built ins on both of the sloping walls, one side for storage and one side for bar essentials.

    6 - 7 Feet 45 inches 55 inches
    8 - 9 Feet 60 inches 75 inches

I relate to the cardinal story. My mom always told me she would send me feathers when she passed and when she passed my son brought me a feather that he found on my car without even knowing this. I also found them all over the place when she first passed away including inside our house in a hallway not near an outside door. It was a great feeling to know she was with me.

The TV, I really want is those "TV frame" with "LG" , it's expensive , but I'll save my
money ( I am a huge saver ) . Remodel this room , paint the ceiling and walls , buy a new
desk , chair , and figure out where I want my " Picture Frame TV" on the wall , I also need to
hide all the wires too , which they would be put into the wall .
It seems like a lot of "youtubers" are buying new home or existing homes and starting new
    in the rooms, etcc.

Absolutely obsessed with the plaid runner idea!

If you get smoke when you start the fire you can open an exterior door nearby and the air pressure will help the smoke go up the chimney instead of into your room. Just do that for like the first ten minutes or so.

It is AMAZING! Definitely get educated on septic. Ours failed and it was $35,000 to replace and we had no sewer for 4 weeks while they were fixing it.

Loved what you said about the Cardinal! It’s the state bird where I’m from and I see them quite often so that was interesting!

Ohh I love it! I swear my mom and dad visit me as Mr and Mrs Cardinal and my sister is a blue jay that comes. I lost my entire family within a span of 4 years. Nothing crazy about needing those who left us especially at Christmas time. BTW cardinals love safflower seeds. You need some feeders at some point. What a beautiful home. Would sit on that back deck for hours watching the wildlife. I have three deer who keep coming to my yard. They eat my apples and lay in the grasses. Merry Christmas To you both.

We share the same beliefs about the cardinals 💕 they are such beautiful birds. You will learn how to make a proper fire. It just takes time. You will be shocked how much warmer real wood burning is. It's amazing! Its downfall is the mess. It's a trade-off. 😊 I'm so incredibly happy for you both, and I can't wait to see what you come up with in your designing process. God bless and Merry Christmas 💗🎄

Thank you for sharing your video. Your house looks amazing. Looking forward to sharing your journey.
In relation to your fire your chimney may need swept or cleaned. I have mine cleaned once a year x
