- After double-checking the all-22 film of the Bears' 21-16 loss to the Colts in Week 3, Laurence Holmes was even more encouraged with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams' progress. The problem is the Bears offensive line isn't talented enough to keep up.

Our problem is NOT Caleb. Kid has plenty of talent. It's the COACHING, and then the o line, but they take their marching orders from Waldron and Eberflus.
Bryce young also has talent
@@AmateurSynthusiasttoo small
@@AmateurSynthusiast Yep. And he also had terrible coaching. He'll wind up somewhere and do well. I'm a firm believer that these kids need good coaches.
Caleb IS the problem
@@leodaman2024the great ones don’t. Aaron Rodgers had Mike McCarthy and Nathaniel Hackett and he’s been just fine
I think he's actually processing it faster than almost everyone else on the offense at this point. And I think if they could find a way to get him protected, he would look like the stud, we all thought we were getting in the draft. That being said now, the trick is to not get him killed by poor offensive line play.
I think by the end of this season Caleb can become organization proof if he doesn’t have something traumatic happen.
Yea I seen someone else say he’s processing so much faster than even the oline & WR.
He can't get past 1 read
@@jimmy_butler I think that's the fact that is offensive line is a revolving door not the fact that he can't read the field.
This actually a fantastic example of A+ football coverage. Focusing on some of the intricate details and making well thought out operational and executionable analysis.
I've grown tired of click bait, rants, and low IQ football coverage. Really appreciate the time you guys put into this take. I hope your audience can appreciate it also.
Lawrence is one of the best out there
Calab has improved EVERY game so far. That’s the most important measurement! It’s gonna take three more games to see if he has it. I (many others) think he does aside from the shitty offense and play calling right now.
I saw Caleb throw the ball landing thirty feet away from the receiver. O-line is killing him. I am glad Ryan Poles has Tyson Bagent benched even though he is better than Caleb. The new experiment is a copy of Green Bay keeping Jordan Love benched for years learning. Bagent should be focusing on the division games coming up. 🐻🕧🧆🏝
@@Michael-CharlesAust-ee5oo -- where is the evidence that Bagent is better than Caleb? I imagine him just getting murdered because he doesn't have the mobility or off-platform arm of Caleb...
@@Michael-CharlesAust-ee5oo bagent was impressive for an undrafted rookie qb, but not relative to an nfl qb. he's a solid backup. there's nothing he's shown that could indicate that he's the future. there are more backups in the league that sit for years and don't do anything than there are jordan love story's. bagent doesn't have nearly as much physical talent as love either. regardless, i don't understand why you would already give up on our #1 overall pick after 3 games.
That ain’t what Kurt Warner said lol
@@VictoriaColmenares-rv5dq if you really value that stuff, most analysts and former players believe this was his best game. kurt warner is in the minority with that take.
I absolutely love this combo of Spiegel and Holmes! Super dynamic and fresh.
2 guys there for 20 years is fresh?
@@Bryan-ig2zp I stated this combo…makes it fresh. Negative, are we?
Yikes
He’s further along bc he came from a coach who knew his abilities and made the most out of them. He’s probably upset at how this offensive staff isn’t as good as his college teams.
I hate how people are shittin on Caleb.......i hated how they shitted on Justin Fields.....tbh play callin and oline been fucked up for about 4 yrs. Justin is winning with better play calling and a better oline. Caleb will too....rather it be here in Chicago than some where else.....nd please fuckin throw more slants nd vertical passes and move swift to rb 2. Tht is all
You covered everything. And it’s all pretty simple. Shame on this staff for not being ready. And good for Justin too. I hope he keeps winning so it’ll put more of a spotlight on our coaches.
Cakeb is thrash, he can't play in the league
I agree only difference is that Caleb is such a unique talent he’s gonna be able to overcome it once he gets acclimated
Completely agree Holmes. You can see that he has the talent. He’s way too talented to fail. He got more comfortable as the game went on Sunday and it was encouraging as hell to see.
He's not talented because he can't play in this league.
People keep claiming a lot of his passing yards were garbage time yards. 1st off this was a 2 and then 1 score game. 2nd is this. How many times was Fields and even Mitch getting beat by more than 2 scores when they had plenty of garbage time and never hit any where close to those yardage numbers? I'll wait!
Exactly. Even if you take away the 45 yard hailmary, Caleb still had 318 yards. JF is averaging 17 ppg in PITT as a game manager for a HOF coach.
IKR! People are diminishing it because it was not perfect. The bears got smoked plenty and the last two qbs of consequence could not get near that.
there's a lot more player fans than there bears fans. if justin had this performance they would be gushing and talking about how amazing he is.
@fatesgates8393 caleb is barley averaging any points unless it's garbage time because he holds the offense back.
It was inflated garbage time stats, because the defense was in prevent
For sure, if you've watched football for a while and really understand the QB position at even a novice level, you see the kid gets it. I'm so excited to watch when he puts it together. It's going to be phenomenal!
He does not get it. The only thing he gets is missing throws, missing reads, and giving the ball to the other team
This is the perfect assessment
. This is exactly what I saw ... Watching the colts game ... Instant subscribe
I saw a bum overthrowing every pass despite having time and making blooper reel turn over
When he has time to throw he looks like a quality NFL starting quarterback that you can win games with.
That’s a pretty cool assessment if that’s the case then how do you go forward? I think getting Keenan back is gonna be big he’s constantly getting open
I think Poles keeps scraping the Wire for better OL talent. That and working full time to pull off a trade for a proven lineman. There should still be some cap money left…
To bad gayleb will overthrow him
Until he throws the flat late 😅...
I need for that processing to include that hurry up sense that will avoid that critical sack that's going to be a game definer.
What are you referring to
Great take on Caleb I believe this also 💯
Agree. No need for glue
CALEB IS FREAKING A REALLY GOOD QB!!!!! Give him just a lil time and HE WILL ROCK!!! DA BEARS!!!! LETS FREAKING GO!!!!
When will the Bears ever listen to Bears fans?? You need a DAMN running game to take the pressure off your new GEM 💎 QB!! 50 to 60 won’t win you Championships!! Next season he career is over!!
Caleb has bad coaching and just needs to mature into the franchise QB in spite of the incompetency that surrounds him.
Caleb is bad, not the coaches fault
Stop telling fans we're not seeing what we're seeing. The team looks bad! The offense is horrific, including Caleb.
Even Mahomes would fall under this horrible coaching staff and invisible oline
Caleb isn't the concern yet... I wish he was better on quick games when the initial read isn't there... We're taking bad sacks... I hope we can get this cleared up so we can get something done with this roster.
Justin processed just fine here Getsy slower his drop by switching his feet and thus “slowing his process”
One step forward two step back..until he becomes consistent. As he’s a rookie it’s going to be highs and lows..
He looks like a rookie, but he looks pretty good and I think he will grow into a good QB. Give him some time and he will lead this team to winning seasons, playoffs, and hopefully a Super Bowl in the future.
Caleb and Rome's connection is starting to grow. Positive step.
3:42 there’s also a play where he throws it off his back foot late for a red zone interception and there’s also a play with the game on the line he drops back doesn’t feel pressure and gets stripped for a game losing play
The colts almost beat the Texans week 1… and if Richardson was a good qb, they would have won in GB… every team except for 4 are in the middle of the league, the bears are there as well
I think if he continues to show progress that’s all we can ask for other than make sure Oline doesn’t get him seriously hurt. I wasn’t expecting him to be very good yet anyways, just better than Fields at least so we know for sure he was worth the risk.
this analysis is in line with a conversation I had last week with a family friend of Caleb’s that basically said that this young has been the real deal since Gonzaga H.S. . I would be more inclined to believe that Caleb has to be slowed down for the offense rather than the offense being slowed down for him. based on what I was told, this QB isn’t the problem as he’s been taught by some of the NFL greats.
This pairing at afternoon aint it.. I'm sorry to feel that way but.. nah
Caleb’s game high in passing yards, already beat Justin’s in 3 games and Justin is in year 4
There were no empty calories at 5:51 in the 4th Bears still had a chance to win
Y’all watch that second half fr. He’s different
Well , kurt warner said he was locked on one receiver the whole time
Can we get some love for the music of Serengeti at the start??
363 YARDS. Nothing to sneeze at, Lawrence.
18 is very good let’s not be stupid here lol
These two have always been a great pairing
Bro like listen to this fr.
Preach!!!!! Amen Holmes
He can't throw long
What you witness was him playing the worst team in the league and lost. What’s going to happen when he plays an average team?
Ah yes, because American football is all about 1 player.
CW is going to be a superstar despite the Bears stupidity!!!
He's not a superstar
Who else needs clean glue for their hair system
Ur mom does
Problem was never Fields and it is not Caleb.
This is such a drone comment. Fields was absolutely a problem. No serious people were saying Fields was THE problem. But hes never going to be a force multiplier, he needs a lot of help. Caleb just needs a little more and we can see sustained success on offense.
@@lost4weeks honestly bro GTFOH you sound goofy. Steelers have not been good so don’t act like that locker room he walked in to was winning championships. Fields has completely transformed that team and he has always played great complimentary football. Quit with the more help nonsense too CW has the best team we’ve had in a decade. CW will figure it out but we will have to trade him for that to happen.
The Bears have BAD coaching. Fire Eberflus and hire Kingsbury next year.
Yes!!!!
@@demmefrazier6629 No Kingsbury is the reverse Eberflus. Good as a coordinator and terrible as a HC
Kingsbury sucked in Arizona.
@@Olmekconly bc Kyler was a jerk.
This is peak meatball delusion.
This is the assessment that actually makes sense and not hinting at firing the staff. After watching film from this season and last season I came up with an assessment of 4 of the 5 starters.
Braxton Jones has the size to push people around but his feet are too slow to play tackle.
Nate Davis has faster feet but struggles to engage the block on lateral movement.
Tevin Jenkins is playing cautiously with his upper body because of previous back issues.
Darnell Wright has the speed but struggles with hand fighting at the snap and the defensive ends are exploiting that now, hence the increase in his holding calls.
Very good 🤔.
The line stinks. He has it. I liked Justin and wanted to keep Justin. He is better already in three games. He must learn to take the check down.
You know nothing about football then Fields sucks Caleb shows potential
@@deancorso4212 First off nobody from Ohio State sucks. And for your comment Rather I like Fields or not I know Calib got that it factor. So keep your lame as comments
A 95% completion rate huh? These guys get paid for football analysis huh? Who thinks they're getting value for the money here?
I’m sorry, did you pay to watch this UA-cam video?
1:03 “yards dont matter” but then every single sports media was talking about how the bears dont have a 4,000 yard passer. Now that caleb is throwing crazy yards, they dont care? Give me a break!
Because wins matter and this regime hasn’t been anywhere but the bottom for 3 seasons
@@AmateurSynthusiast yeah. 3 seasons where ryan poles has been rebuilding from top to bottom. He didn’t even have a first round pick his first year we were way over our salary cap. Unlike Pace, he hasn’t been mortgaging the future. Poles has one more year to complete his rebuild. People have to understand that he hasn’t finished rebuilding the team yet!! He never said they were gonna be a superbowl team this year. That was the media and fans. He has one more year to use up the remaining draft capital that he acquired. There are tons of talent at the defensive and offensive line next year. His draft needs fit the available players perfectly!!
@@richmargin6082 he had JUSTIN FIELDS
@@AmateurSynthusiast fields was not his pick for QB. Remember? It was ryan pace. Caleb is by far a better QB. He has a higher ceiling. But i am not sure this coaching staff can develop him. They couldn’t develop fields. It takes rookies a few years to develop. We are seeing stevenson and gervon sr starting to develop towards the end of their rookie year and they are still playing well into their 2nd year. I dont understand why everyone expected caleb to be a aaron rodgers in only his first 3 games. CJ stroud was the best rookie QB ever! But even he didn’t get started until his 4th game. And he had better o-line and coaching than caleb. I just want to see improvement by caleb. Then i know we have our franchise QB. If we dont win games and caleb is playing at a high level then i know its not him losing the games. How many games did the bears lose last year when they should have won? I would say at least 3. Thats on the coaches
@@richmargin6082 by far? Based off what? This is objectively false
I like Caleb, but this is a perfect example of how bad LH is...even after watching the All 22, he still has no clue what he's talking about
Does anyone care what that corny hack, Laurence, has to say about anything?
Yes. Lots of people do
