1: Why is this laptop thing even a debate? Isn't it not HYBE’s property? Doesn’t matter if it’s packed with personal info-if it’s not yours, it can be taken back at any time. How is 5th gen defined anyway? They don’t sound any different than 4th gen or even later 3rd gen groups. Fourth gen used to get a lot of criticism because they had a lot of trouble competing with third gen groups as well, especially boy groups. Because the market is so crowded now, it’s hard for groups to succeed unless they grab attention right from the get go. I think we will still have some monster groups, but not as many.
5th gen has just started, but BM managed to sell out their first concert in Seoul in just 5 hours. Kiss of Life brings back the sexy concept reminiscent of the 2nd and early 3rd gen, and they're already charting well. Other groups are also doing great. They’ve already achieved a lot, so give them a few years to grow-they’ll likely find success like 4th gen groups. The reason 4th gen is more successful right now is that many 3rd gen idols are either in the military or pursuing solo careers. This pattern always happens-just like how 3rd gen groups gained more attention or rule K-pop when 2nd gen groups started disbanding or going solo.
as a person who met kpop at it's third generation but only got to really enjoy it at it's fourth and now am only navigating through groups, I miss the good ol' days when having female backup dancers were not compared as launching a nuclear attack, when interaction between female and male groups in music shows, awards and variety shows wasn't deemed on backlash, why are people so dumb nowadays? It's so toxic, I just wish to protect the idols sometimes, especially the newer ones, they've got no idea what they're signing up for, one can't be human in this industry, and when companies resort to virtual or mocap idols, they say they're replacing people for machines, well, I'm not a big fan of AI created idols, but I'm not against using motion-capture, the way plave does, because it keeps the humans behind the idols safe, they can have a normal life, be who they are, date, spend time with families, or at least it is more normal to some degree... to sum it up: what the hell happened to K-pop fans and industry?

For the fifty fifty tour one, I dont know what kpop concerts are like. Or concerts in general 😅 I just went to my first ever concert and it was for KARD. So it was only the 4 members on stage, no back up dancers, and they changed their clothes technically once, and before the encore they left to put the tour shirts on, except one member who just wrapped it around her waist. So based on this one experience fifty fifty concert sounds pretty normal. As long as the artists bring it I dont think I really care. I just wanna vibe to the music.

imho some kpop fans are so oblivious about their behavior it is absurd. a great example is the twice solo situation where everyone was arguing about how tzuyu didn’t deserve to go solo but jeongyeon did. firstly; jeongyeon was bullied for something she couldn’t control and people STILL want to say that she was being ‘mistreated’ since she didn’t go solo. not only that, one key reason that tzuyu went solo was that people said she was being ‘mistreated’ (she should have gotten more screentime but she wasn’t being mistreated) and because of that higher ups thought giving her a solo would stop the uproars about tzuyu being mistreated and ignored. people always want to say they both are mistreated but the second that jeongyeon would’ve went solo you guys would rip her to shreds. as much as we love jeongyeon we shouldn’t be mad at her for not going solo or at tzuyu for stealing the solo opportunity from other members. we should respect jeonyeons choice and appreciate it as it is. just my take though 🤷♂️

I think you somewhat contradict yourself between ur fifth gen argument and the idol calculation one. These groups need time to do the algorithm thing before they are able to just react and behave naturally. It’s like learning the fundamentals in sports and then freestyling once you have a solid base. Most of these groups don’t have the experience or self confidence built up via success and fan support to just be natural. And even the ones you mentioned as more raw took some time to achieve that. How is 5th gen defined anyway? They don’t sound any different than 4th gen or even later 3rd gen groups. Fourth gen used to get a lot of criticism because they had a lot of trouble competing with third gen groups as well, especially boy groups. Because the market is so crowded now, it’s hard for groups to succeed unless they grab attention right from the get go. I think we will still have some monster groups, but not as many.
5th gen has just started, but BM managed to sell out their first concert in Seoul in just 5 hours. Kiss of Life brings back the sexy concept reminiscent of the 2nd and early 3rd gen, and they're already charting well. Other groups are also doing great. They’ve already achieved a lot, so give them a few years to grow-they’ll likely find success like 4th gen groups. The reason 4th gen is more successful right now is that many 3rd gen idols are either in the military or pursuing solo careers. For the fifty fifty tour one, I dont know what kpop concerts are like. Or concerts in general 😅 I just went to my first ever concert and it was for KARD. So it was only the 4 members on stage, no back up dancers, and they changed their clothes technically once, and before the encore they left to put the tour shirts on, except one member who just wrapped it around her waist.
So based on this one experience fifty fifty concert sounds pretty normal. As long as the artists bring it I dont think I really care. I just wanna vibe to the music.

imho some kpop fans are so oblivious about their behavior it is absurd. a great example is the twice solo situation where everyone was arguing about how tzuyu didn’t deserve to go solo but jeongyeon did. firstly; jeongyeon was bullied for something she couldn’t control and people STILL want to say that she was being ‘mistreated’ since she didn’t go solo. not only that, one key reason that tzuyu went solo was that people said she was being ‘mistreated’ (she should have gotten more screentime but she wasn’t being mistreated) and because of that higher ups thought giving her a solo would stop the uproars about tzuyu being mistreated and ignored. people always want to say they both are mistreated but the second that jeongyeon would’ve went solo you guys would rip her to shreds. as much as we love jeongyeon we shouldn’t be mad at her for not going solo or at tzuyu for stealing the solo opportunity from other members. we should respect jeonyeons choice and appreciate it as it is. just my take though 🤷♂️

I think you somewhat contradict yourself between ur fifth gen argument and the idol calculation one. These groups need time to do the algorithm thing before they are able to just react and behave naturally. It’s like learning the fundamentals in sports and then freestyling once you have a solid base. Most of these groups don’t have the experience or self confidence built up via success and fan support to just be natural. And even the ones you mentioned as more raw took some time to achieve that. But also I agree there chosen were an odd choice to signal out.
