Regarding the Old testament, the J3ws did a very good job preserving this, inclusive of the different lines of translation (I believe 2) being very close. There has been some recent things found between these two 0ld Testament versions, but the factors involved are minuscule from what I have seen.
When something like what you bring up comes along, I go to my KJV and then go to an interlinear and then I go looking for sources relating to the scriptures in question for the different versions to see what's going on, which includes commentaries. A lot of the time, there are extraneous factors that most of us are not aware on in relation to prior events, culture, inner insights that we some 2 to 6 thousand years later, goes over our heads. I ALSO GO BY WHAT I KNOW OF GOD, HIS DEALINGS AND THE BIBLE AS A WHOLE.
Looking at all of these above factors, inclusive of interlinear i.e. Hebrew; the NIV V4tican corruption is wrong. It is clear why the bible presents the v4tican as the mother of all h4rlots Rev 17 & 18.
