this is truly the most powerful performance i've ever seen. nina was always such an incredible performer but particularly here you can see all the raw emotion going through her entire body as she belts out those final notes and literally jumps out of her seat as soon as she's done because it all just gets so much. she went through so much in her life and it's like she expresses all of it at once in those final moments. we are so lucky she left so many incredible recordings for us

No better pair than Nina Simone and a Bösendorffer. This audience was so lucky to be there to witness and her tanscendent Bach inspired My Baby Just Cares For Me. Every time I watch videos from this concert, I feel like I'm witnessing her apotheosis.

I felt the lyrics exactly the way she played!!! Now arrangement, harmony and lyrics make more sense, of a person who suffers for the fact she has nobody to look after her... Every part of the song was perfectly blended and expressed in this terrific version! Viva Simone!
I have no idea how it’s even possible, but if you listen to My Baby Just Cares For Me, from this same show, it sounds Iike she’s playing a totally different piano. She had magic in her fingers. But she suffered terribly for her art.
@Maria Carter This is the Montreaux Jazz Festival, in Switzerland, In the summer. It’s a very laid back venue. I’ve been twice. It’s common for artists to attend other artist’s sets and will perform upon request. She probably just left the pool and came to hear someone else’s set, and someone saw her and asked her to play.
Nina made the piano sound richer than a full orchestra
Absolutely brilliant. That intro, it's just out of this world. The skies open, and then slowly a vulnerable voice appear between the clouds.
The way Nina Simone made the piano play out different emotions, made it growl and made it sound softly in one song is something incredible to behold
