They do have a point, the amount of female Nijisanji members who are obssessed with girls (in one way or another) is pretty high. Even the (probably) straight ones.

Otaku interests probably acts as a filter, given how girls are a primary attraction in that space, so you'd get those who have some interest in that. Also add the fact that most of them weren't selected from the traditional entertainer crowd, but were independent live streamers before becoming a vtuber, which is already quite a special interest or hobby.
The fact that many of them at least have some interest specifically in each other is of course something you see in any workplace, given the common experience.
