@@lmao7439 From my research, longer cranks only make a significant power/torque difference when starting from a dead stop. Once your cadence is high you can make the same power with a slightly shorter crank, but your knees/legs benefit from a smaller crank circle, and you can get in a more aero position more comfortably because your top knee position is lower.
TC I'm torn between a tarmac 52 and 54 I've ridden 54s all my cycling life and now I'm being told the 52 would be a better fit I'm 5'7" when I buy pants I buy 33 x 30. Curious of your height etc?

I feel my fit is dialed in at this point. If you are 5’7” I think you’ll love a 52. Everyone I know that’s my height is on a 52.
I’m only here to see people complaining about how heavy the bike is haha...and it’s interesting to see his bike has a zero setback seatpost, not the same on the “stock” S-works

Larger cooling fins on dura ace provide more cooling for braking on long alpine descents. Pros descend fast and don't drag their brakes so they don't need it and can use the lighter XTR ones.
Not only does aero matter more, this frame with lighter wheels comes pretty near the 6.8 kilo weight limit. For a full aero build, this is actually pretty light
Old bikes were 6.8kg, but they weren't aero. Also, the SL7 can be built to 6.8kg. There are many examples. The optimum bike balances weight, comfort, aerodynamics, and handling to perform an objective, and this balance can vary depending on conditions and race profile. The SL7 won the world championships, several Grand Tour stages (including three of the first six Tour stages this year). They clearly have something figured out.
@@noptimized If they made the same bike with rim brakes, it'd be equally aerodynamic but would actually be 6.8kg. There's no reason they wouldn't make one beside making as much money as possible for themselves.

I really don’t understand why riders are accepting such heavy bikes. 7.26kg when the limit is 6.8kg? Considering the never-ending battle of having to precisely optimise his bodyweight, an extra pound of bike weight seems crazy!
@@ericlange1524 they’re not as smart as you think. The bike is great. But the excess weight on his and all piles in the peloton is due to one reason only and that is discs. Beefier fork, more spokes and rotors all account for that extra weight.

(Even us fat old boys have swapped the ice tech out for heavier old school non laminated discs because they over heat and rub) 4 extra spokes, and a disc adding 3 to 5 watts of drag at 45km/h The pro bars non aero but very reliable another 2 to 3 watts dropped (if you believe the aero testing) On the plus side Nice paint scheme and wolf pack logos.
He deserves a better bike than this Junk. So many "But Ma Aero" simps in the comments who ate the marketing garbage and bought an SL7... 10k for a bike that even at the pro level with lighter Discs can't get below 7.2kg. What a joke.
I guess they weighed it w. pedals, bottle holders, computer mount etc. on, given they reviewed it on a short loan. That’s 300-350g right there. So std. factory spec weight is likely 6.85-ish.

My favorite bike of all time! I ride a 52 Tarmac and 170mm cranks. Interesting he uses 172.5's. I personally prefer the slightly shorter crank.

What's the point of dura ace rotors if xtr is lighter?? More aero or something?

The UCI weight includes pedals, bottle cages, computer mount and anything else that needs tools to remove. The 6.8kg weight includes none of those.
