In WV we can use snares but I've never found a premade snare that works well...I'm not very good at it but might try again next year with this wire set up. I like that...just gotta find good snares.
Just started watching your channel. First year running cable restraints in Pa and still learning. What gauge wire did you say to use? I think I missed that part.
How long is the loop that you drive in the ground? Looks like 4”? Just curious how long to cut the 9G wire overall. I know you mentioned 28” out of the ground. So thinking 34-36” piece overall?
@@LiveMoreOutdoors hope you're I hope you're having good luck on your line we have got our first coat day before yesterday and first bobcat this morning we are still after them
I do mostly the same stuff. I found out also by blocking to heavy I would get refusals. I barely do any blocking now and it seems to work alot better. Nice video, very thorough.
Thanks for showing how you do it. I been using fiberglass rods with 9 gauge wire attached for the support. Going try this without the rod. Appreciate it brother
I’m having a love hate relationship with cables right now, ok more hate. I two catches in two nights and both of them chewed out. Was using 7x7 cable now I’m switching all of them to 1x19 cable. Looked like you tried to cut the cable with a pair of blunt cutters, so frustrating. Liked your set up though 👍
Yeah buddy how you doing Hey listen I'm just wondering how come I mean you're the expert here now how come your support wire is so long 28in I only make mine 24 and the Ketch Circle the bottom of it is like 10 in from the ground so I was just wondering why are using so much support wire that that means you got a lot of free like all bent up and all that that's why I make mine so small but I was just wondering
Good here. I'm far from an expert LOL. I learned this from Rich Fahler at a trapping demo. It has been working good so far. I may tweak some stuff for next season.
No I might try it but like I said minor 24in so I put two in in the ground cuz my grounds Frozen right so as long as the bottom of the RCR is above 2in I don't think it matters myself I've gotten a couple but I haven't been out much this year but we'll see what happens I just have a bunch cut 24in I don't want to waste them write 9 gauge
Thanks for sharing Brother! I was kinda curious how you set up. I'm guessing you have a stop on your cable as well so that the snare can't tighten up all the way? Take care Brother
I like using the grass as a chin lift. Gonna give it a try.
Good luck with the cables. Thanks for watching!
Nice informative video. I need to make a change on my support wire. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jinx!
I haven’t had any luck yet with cables but this is my first year so thanks for the tips
Good luck this season! Thanks for watching!
Great demonstration Jim.. 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Thank you very much that’s what I do so I’m doing OK but I usually always put my support wire in my hole I only make one hole
Thanks for watching Bruce.
Thanks for sharing brother ! Awesome tutorial and information .
Thanks Bud!

Can you use lethal snares? That would be really effective.
@@LiveMoreOutdoors yes we can but I'm a novice at best with snares and every snare I've purchased is not pre loaded very well.
Great info brother, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
That's what I enjoy watching. How to do everything from start to end. Thanks Jim for your info 👍
Thanks 👍
Awesome! Thanks for sharing and great idea! Nice looking sets!
Thank you!

9 ga. wire. Thanks for watching!
great information brother
Thanks for watching
Wow! You put that video out fast! Thanks so much! Incredible information! Stay blessed and catch em up!
Thanks!
Nice job! I like the bend you put on the support to stuff in the ground.
Thanks!
Thanks for the demo. Not sure if I'll ever use cable restraints, but some good insight on setting them up.
Thanks Tom!
So you say the support wire is 28 inches from the ground to the tip so how much is in the ground 2 inches 3”
About 4-6" the way they're bent now.
How long is the loop that you drive in the ground? Looks like 4”? Just curious how long to cut the 9G wire overall. I know you mentioned 28” out of the ground. So thinking 34-36” piece overall?
I added @ 12". to each to make the extra bends. @ 40" for coyote and 30" for fox.
Thank you!
Please keep up all of your videos…. This is how I learn!
Thanks for sharing, wish we could use them in NY. Good luck
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the lesson. Will try it out after the snow thats coming! Stay safe
Good luck!
Good stuff as usual!
Thanks!
Interesting video
Thanks!

May I ask what kind of cable locks you are using? Thanks
I use either micro locks or ADC washers.
Thank you

This was fantastic. Thank you!
You're so welcome!

Sometimes less is better. Thanks for watching!
what county in pa are you at? im setting my first cables out tomorrow in Montgomery county
I'm in Clearfield County. Good luck to ya!
Good video
Thanks!

You bet. I've seen guys using rods before, but this all fits into a ziploc bag for me. Thanks for watching!
@@LiveMoreOutdoors do you boil or dip your snares or paint them?

I'm certain I'd have lost a coyote or two with 7x7. Thanks for watching!
That's a great set-up you have brother! I really wish I could use snares I have great spots for them!
Thanks Mark! They are a nice tool fo bad weather.
Great video buddy I have never set up cable restraints before would like to learn how to do this. Hope you all have a great weekend.
Thanks 👍. They're fast and easy.
Don’t forget you can make spots where they’ll have to duck down a little not just chip up diversions
Good point. Thanks for the tip
Great info. What gauge support wire you use? This could be big snowstorm if they are right.
Thanks. 9 ga. Yeah...Probably be setting off a lot of sets Sunday. Last season, I doubted the weathermen...I had a lot of traps under 2' of snow LOL!
Did a great job showing that 👍
Thanks Paul!
Do you reccomend long or short for cable restraints?
Shorter the better when it comes to entanglements.

Yup...we have to have a deer stop at 8". Have a great day my friend.
Is that a homemade driver for the support wire? Great video as usual! 👍
Yup. Just 3' of 1/2" rod with a groove ground in it. When the ground isn't frozen, I can just push the wire in by hand. Thanks for watching!
nice
Thanks!
