Dave Stewart. Probably the best organist of Canterbury, in my taste! A wizard and professor of music...kind of idol for me! And Hatfield and the north are so incredibly good! Thanx a lottl, peyotl! 😜😝🤭😎🤩✊
@@Drench3 no way. Compare the organ on The Land of Grey and Pink by Caravan to Polite Force by Egg. Same year. Land of grey and pink is fantastic, but Polite Force (and any egg album for that matter) is in a league of it's own. Just listen to A Visit to Newport Hospital.
Like the first light of twilight, this music opens your eyes to old promises and to all the anomalies of nature. Evocative of powers beyond observation, these pieces pull the strings of the heart, attract nostalgia and awaken regrets, flayed lives and the torpor of tormented watchers 🌺🕊
With no don't, Hatfield .. one of the all time greatest bands... Prog, fusion or otherwise.. Stellar players all, just overflowing with talent. And thier collaborations with Robert Wyatt always pay off.. one of the greatest vocalists ever, in mho... The way he uses his voice as an instrument is so distinct, and he pairs so nicely with Richard Sinclair, who clearly he was an influence on... Never needs to be mentioned unless you've not heard, he was an incredible highly innovative drummer as well, before his accident... One of the best Man True/lLything performances is here as well... I hope this let# new people hear and become fans as well... Thanks for posting!...
The first part of the show was played by D.Sinclair, track number 4's which correct name is "A-Mewsing" was written by D. Sinclair and further recorded on his "Full Circle" with the name of "Peace in time"
I thought it didn't have the Stewart secret sauce; with Dave Sinclair and Robert Wyatt it's like a Matching Mole Mk II ... thanks. Looking forward to the second half ... And then you can instantly tell it's Dave Stewart with the tone generator antics, LOL
This sounds like the second half is the audio to a live vid from this time on UA-cam. The tune order and excerpting are the same, although I'll have to compare directly to see if it's the same performance.
So long gone now, and with Phil and Pip, gone, but so nice to hear this, like it was new, with an unfamiliar, unreleased instrumental track after Fol De Rol with our good pal Robert Wyatt...
I first heard polite force in 77 when I stumbled onto the 'sound' at a friends, rollin sensi j's in between this and van der graff and fripp and eno. I became an instant Dave Stewart fan. The b3 vibe informs my writing to this day. Fantastic.
Except, Derek palmer, Dave didn't play a B3... It was a Hammond L-100 series... an L-103, I think... Used to have one meself... Kudos to you if you've got a B-3 tho... Great organ!...
Loved the instrumental, fabulous bass of course and brilliant organ all marred by terrible and unmusical noises from Robert. That’s why Robert was asked to leave Soft Machine as Hugh Hopper and Mike Ratledge could not stand any more of Robert’s ‘vocalise ‘
Does anyone know the songwriting credits for this--I'd like to know if Wyatt wrote the crazy vocal track he did w. Richard Sinclair, that sorta got all. Yoko esque.. towards the end, with Richard Sinclair kind ofaloof and off-putting but I don'ooo.didnt write this... My fone spit it out all weird an sht.. try again...
@@andrewarthurmatthews6685Yes thanks for clarefying that...Its richard Sinclair after he was booted out of caravan if im not mistaken........Egg were another great band as well just in case you dont know them.with mont Campbell & the other Dave Stewert who was there keyboard player..
Well you are mistaken regarding Richard leaving Caravan as it was definitely not a case of being’chucked ‘out . More a case of the ‘musical differences’ that occurred with numerous bands over the years
Yes very well acquainted with Egg that I do not rate when it comes to CD bands or even any bands come to that . I have their CD’s are given and whilst I like what they are trying to do ultimately I am always left dissatisfied. So they are great musicians etc but having listened to their stuff I am left feeling they had good ideas but but nothing memorable or as ‘finished ‘ as say , Matching Mole, National Health or Hatfield & North
I gotta try N.H.again at the time i was a bored by them.I know there 1st album has become quite rare.maybe one of these days it will be remastered like so many prog reissues slowly being re-released .The past 2-3 years its mainly gong (Steve Hillage era geting remastered.) .There obvisouly a revivial of there past catalog. Now if only they would remaster the 3 Pierre Mollen albums era of gong..Oh .well.....By the way theres an Egg John Peel recording on you tube thats very good an very rareit Good sound quality I got a cdr of it! I luv It recommened!.ps im surprised John Peel like progressive rock at all

I partially agree but I think your bias is showing. I would have to say David sinclair could give him a run for his money

Famntastic! Vocal duo with Sinclair & Wyatt!! The two most beautiful voices on Canterbury Sound!!!

This . music has certainly stood the test of time, over the past 49 years, better than most, I'd say...

There's a " D " missing in " Hatfield " )
Well no as the band name comes from the Hertfordshire UK town ‘Hatfield ‘ not ‘Hadfield ‘ !
Egg?
No and if you read the description it tells you it’s Hatfield & The North
