cool to see your accomplishment is so well acknowledged by your peers. you’re returning soul surfing to a ‘professional’ standard not seen since the 70’s! truly inspirational session. i would have padded out next to you, but not alone! hats off to the lone ranger!
So inspiring. All alone with no cam, drone, safety or whatever, on a forgotten island, with this terrific slab in gnarly cold water and heavy grey sky condition
Thanks for sharing brother!!!! I still think the first video you posted of you soloing this slab was the best surf video I’ve ever seen 🤙🤙🤙 you are a true legend sir God bless you and your wife 🤙🤙❤️✝️
This session that nate so nonchalantly approached solidified him as the gnarliest surfer on the planet. I remember hearing you mention surfing slabs alone as the next frontier and the most extreme slabs. Well... I think you are onto something.
Nathan Florence, you're a phenomenon. Even among so many incredible current wave riders. Highest quality riding, worldwide breaks ridden, photographed with skill and excellent equipment and, finally, edited and posted online. Because of all the above, surfers and non surfers, alike, get to see some amazing things on some amazing waves. For the record, of all the jaw dropping rides of yours, a barrel you made at Mullaghmore is the one that makes this old wave rider shout, "No way!!!" Mahalo.
Getting to the surf zone looks worse than the foam bath in Ireland! And it's so shallow (5:47, 9:51 & 11:18) - YIKES!! 😬 What is must feel like to have the wave pass beneath and through you - 11:42...🌊💙🌊💙🌊 LOVE the footage. 💥
Have you ever considered having some kind of earphone or walkie talkie system when tackling new solo spots like this? I've thought about it just for sprinting into position for those rogue wide ones in a normal line up but haven't been bothered to work it out
@@NathanFlorenceits terrifying, not far from where u are the peak changes locations like 3 times before breaking aswell, super weird and scary if u aint expecting it
4:48 you see the wave, then go for it and pull out. Was it the feathering that made you decide to HI pull out or was it the walling up/ curve of the wave?
Amazing video Nate! Would be very interesting to have a breakdown of what goes through your mind when surfing new spots like these. Thanks for sharing and keep it up !
I can't speak for Nathan but from experience I can tell you exactly what went through my mind in similar situations... My arse... and the fact that Adrenaline is often brown in colour.
i mostly just want to get one of the sets an dnot let myself down, i want to get a good one but i dont want to be injured and have mahina die trying to save me, so a mix of trying to balance pushing on the right one or just trying for a big one and saying fuck it, but then realizing its only mahina on shore and then repeating that mind cycle for 2 hours hahahahha, basically just stressin out to get one
Amazing how much bigger it was than it looked from the beach. Sketchy paddle out and the take off spot looked difficult to stay in. You are brave to surf spots like this alone. Thank you for the video! Side note ( If you could film with a 360 camera then us old guys who can't surf waves like that anymore could get the experience with a VR headset) Just an idea.. lol
@@JosephWilsonProductions He doesn't post as much these days but I've always enjoyed his surfing and videography and as a window into OBX. Glad you liked the video.
Enjoying this double footage of this session. You originally dropped earlier with your wife filming from the shore and now this raw pov. Keep this up brother, sometimes keeping it separate works. We’re enjoying the total journey. RAHJAHDATz 😎🤙
5:37 legendary Master 🤙🏼 NSBR 4 L. When Nate rides the black box 2 on late take off is very responsive, Nathan is it a quad set up? Cheers brotha 😎💯🤙🏼🇨🇷⚡
there are locals about, thats why i never name locations really, but most normal surfers dont want to risk breaking a board or neck for one wave, rather enjoy their surf somewhere friendlier
Respect brother, mind control is the hardest part of those solo quests. Huge conditions and sketchy setup, take care fren

I appreciate that!
Well said!

and rocks visible in the break-zone XD
2" of water, so scary lol
This is not an easy way to make a living. Huge respect to you Nathan.💪😎
So much water movement, so unpredictable, solo spooky session. Legendary stuff 🤙🏼

Mahalo.
A skilled tactician. Not for everyone. The go pro makes it 20% of what big Nate’s feeling. Your my new hero.
Absolutely the pinnacle of a free surfer.
I love how you are really present and just enjoying it all.
You’d have to pay me 20 k just to paddle out solo another 20k to catch a slab there and another 10 to paddle back in .
Would you pay me that much 😂
You’d have to pay me a new life.
I think you would puss out before payment lol
@@mrd9720 Hey your not lying . It’s suicidal.
5:48
Love this style of video. Nathan does this well. Its like I've just had a surf
Nathan Florence - You are one intense and hardcore surfer. Thanks for all your great videos - they are always inspiring. Much respect, brother.
This high level surfer got his head on a swivel out there. You know it’s the limit. Insane. Hats off, Nathan!

Nate you’re the man!
Do you know these videos? Make me a hold my breath while sitting in my recliner.

That POV rock dance was like a video game.
Your solo sessions are an inspiration to man kind 🙏
Mad dog
Absolutely bananas!! "Some people are just wired different"
You are brave and inspirational Nathan. Thank you.
Is really impresive bro, by just looking at the rocks down there gives me goose bumps!!! thans for the RAW videos!!
Timing the walk out on those slippery gnarly rock shelf all alone was insane.
You made this look easy, the reality of that wave from your other video, shows how truly dangerous and terrifying it actually was. Your insane..
I watch these videos on tbe elliptical and pretend like I’m surfing. Helping me keep the weight off. Keep these slab vids coming, Nate!
The guy continues to be an animal. Just an animal.
Spooky up there too
Normal office day. Good work Nathan.
Love these vids! Bread and butter of the channel.
Solo doom slab session...salute sir 🫡
BTW are you using the windmills line up to pinpoint the take off spot? It looked to me like the water was pushing you right and in. Not sure.
Those slab sets are so crazy because they go from looking like a Florida summer wave to elite big-wave monsters in 2 seconds.
seriously they would be flat then jack to 10ft in a second

Very hard to set yourself up when you are on your own on the peak legend
You’re on another plane of existence Nate dogg. Sheesh
when the condition is heavy, Nate is ready
🔥🔥🔥
Glad to see you back there
Holy shit that place looks *hairy* as hell ! You have steel balls Nate, be safe out there
Looks like he went backdorr on all of these. Absolutely mental.
Hi what's the current settings you're running on the go pro 12 ?
Was this the same break as last video just POV?? It sure looks the same. Killer spot.
Gnarrrrrrly dude! From the cliff out, it reminds me of Oregon
Nathan is a mythical beast 💪
5:01 how the hec did you punch through and get back on your board so perfectly?
Those wind turbines are a blight.
Amazing video Nate! Would be very interesting to have a breakdown of what goes through your mind when surfing new spots like these. Thanks for sharing and keep it up !

Purest form of meditation, survival. Nothing going on other than trying to surf, almost guarantee it

That drop on your first barrel looks steep even on the GoPro
You are no longer Noriega, Juan Juan is over too, didn't work anyway. Welcome back !

Kaua’i underground in da house! Dat was draining
How do you leave the water? :D
there are some spots on the east side of oahu with rock/coral similar to that

The 3 whirlpools at 9:44 😮. Incredible session 🤙🏽
so shallow
Awesome that you have the place to youself. Many good spots are getting crowded. Where are the locals?

So scary, madness session.
Such a weapon!!!!
We’ve seen this, Nate!
That looked like a battle 😫😫
No one would come and be sketchy with ya. Oh well, gotta go get barreled!
Solo GOAT
Do you only surf epoxy?
If so what's your reason?
Yikes. I'd be worried about Whiteeees🦈
Entering a spot like that would make for a great computer game
great skill
Where is this?
Where is this like which country is he surfing in?
Your videos makes me high ! Lesgooo
Looked like a mad wave, but more for bodyboarders.
where is this????
Surfing that on a Thai-fi monsta box is nuts
Crazy that these places even exist
Hope you’ve got your boards
Godlike
LEGEND ❤🙏🤙
wow. cat and mouse... so unforgiving. right in to backwash
well surfed as always
big up for paddling
Thx pov always valuable
Lol board looks like a JS Monstabox 2020. Medium-low rocker, wider tail, recommended for average waves 0-4 feet high 🙃
