Quick correction: nashors before this buff didn't apply on hit on W. People build it only for the stats (why they stopped building it when cdr was removed and started again when it was added back).
Nah, they gave him a buff like a month and half ago that did make nashor's work on soldiers

This is not true. In all of Azir patch notes Nashor’s tooth has never been even mentioned. And nothing about any on-hit being applied by his w. Unless you can give source for this claim, you probably remember it wrong or misunderstood something or maybe saw this in a dream

i was thinking the same but not on the soldiers since i think the limit is 3, but who knows. I was thinking more of like you have move mobility because of the cd which is gonna be funny to see
Yep. Just tried that in the practice tool out of curiosity, you can have up to 5 at once with a kind of reasonable build (maybe even more if you go full CDR)

Max I got when in training tool was 5 soldiers at once but the oldest would only last like 2 hits or so.
That's ideal conditions too where you're just DPSing at 100%.
I think ideal is probably going to just be normal build but incorporating Kraken Slayer with an optional BotRK for high health tanks.
With Zerker, Rageblade, Kraken, Rylais, Deathcap, Nashor's i would see 800+ phys kraken procs with 100-200 magic on hit with no soldiers at about 2200 DPS. Then with soldiers out it would go to a roughly 50/50 split between magic/phys at 2400 DPS or so.
BotRK from what I could tell only applied once no matter how many soldiers there were, so I assume that's the same for other on-hits.

Navori, berserkers, and 3 recurve bows with mana runes could be a pretty nasty formula for tower harassment and seiging.
I just did some quick calculations, and not accounting for the small differences in mpen and armorpen that rageblade mythic gives, with the build Zwag has at 30 minutes (rageblade, kraken, nashor's, botrk), his normal autoattacks will deal more damage than the attack of one soldier. One soldier will deal 384 premitigated damage to its main target. One AA will deal 463 premitigated damage.
This is not accounting for rageblade's phantom hit, which would favour the AA even more since it applies on hits at full strength (the soldier applies on hit at 50% effectiveness).
This also does not account for the % current hp damage passive of botrk, which adds another 4.5% current hp dmg to soldier, but 9% to AA. It does include the 3rd hit extra damage from both botrk and kraken, averaged over 3 hits.
Additional soldiers add 25% damage to primary target, but I don't know if/how this applies to on-hit. And soldiers give a small aoe too, but on-hit specifically does not apply to secondary targets.

They finally made azir fit into modern league with the exact changes he always needed to be fun. Lower cooldown passive with actual impact, onhit on sand soldiers. The removal of the combo attack speed is fair
Hes been better for modern league since his most recent rework. This honestly doesnt change much.
Personaly I still wouldn't take the ad items as the effects alone are probably not strong enough to make up for the unused stats (ad / crit). But that you can take Lichbane now is nice and a Wit's End could be an option now as it has no ad and only a good hitting on hit. Titanic would look funny though.

My general thought is a BoRK rush into AS boots and Nashors as your core and then you have a lot of freedom from there. Early game nobody is running from you on a bork rush. After, you can lean full AP or you can go full on hit for the meme. Rageblade will give you a decent amount of on hit and a fair chunk of res shred, so I don't see why you couldn't pick up an item like Essence to regen your mana since you're basically only grabbing it for the crit rate and ability haste otherwise. The real meme is if seeing the extended auto range from RFC applies to your soldiers' attack ranges.
Heartsteal plus items that scale off that since soldiers can proc it now so you can grab the stack even if they try running away

Nashors tooth never worked on azir. None on hit effect worked on his W, nashors included.
True, people took Nashor's on Azir simply as a statstick.
I kinda wanted to see him with Shiv, but Rageblade performed better than I expected.

I think buying tear on the first back and completing the item 3rd or 4th will solve the mana issue

So i have an interesting idea for an Azir build. It's more of a "bruiser" build. It's lightly inspired by "tank" Katarina.
The runes:
Grasp of the undying, Shield bash, Bone plating, Overgrowth
Presence of Mind, Legend:Alacrity
+10% Attack speed, +6 Armor, +8 Magic Ressist
The Build:
Heartsteal (preferably the first item so that you can get more stacks, but i think it would also be good as a second item after Nashor's tooth)
Nashor's Tooth (classic item for azir, nothing much to say)
Titanic Hydra (it might be an interesting interaction if it works the way i think it will, while not applying the ad dmg it would still hit the enemies with the shockwave of dmg from multiple soliders, or it could just be troll)
Demonic Embrace (scaling HP and scaling AP = strong, %hp dmg)
Rylai's Crystal Scepter (slowing enemies for more time to autoattack, and utility)
Seraph's Embrace (since Titanic Hydra is basicaly just a funny sight to see on Azir, this is a better alternative, slight helps with Azirs problem with mana, also it has synergy with shield bash)
Berserker's Greaves (so that he can autoattack more)
OFC you can change anythign you want with this build, but please don't change Heartsteal, and if you do change anything else pls explain why, because im curious
TLDR
30:15 it looks like you aren't healing from the soldiers, but from Sona. So maybe the soldiers can't use the lifesteal

Haven’t played league in years but it still saddens me that they took away his ability to use his soldier summon on turrets to do damage instead. Correct me if I’m wrong I think it was his summon ability

it makes sense that the on hit only deals 50% effectiveness because the soldiers hit everything in their path. aoe on hit at 50% multiple times is still a win imo

So, normal build but get a kraken or bork somewhere. Guess you dont need a nashers if you got the other for attack speed. So ludooles, shadowflame or void, nasher, kraken and a deathcap should work i guess... kraken or bork but krakeb might do more damage with the ap scaling... riftmaker might be decent now too or even sunderer to be sligbtly tanky
