I feel this is the best directed episode in anime history. The sound of Gons footsteps, the terror in his and Kiluas voice, the use of silence, and that quiet end to the outro music i dont think can ever be topped. I've seen a dozen or so reactions to these episodes, and what sends it home is that you couldnt react at all, and really nobody else did either. That silent awe is something that even though i have seen it before, through a channel like yours its something we can actually share together. I really appreciate you giving us the chance to share it with you, and you were waiting for the Gon snap for so long, your own actual reaction series got its payoff in a way i doubt you saw coming. That is Hunter x Hunter.
I was tired of MCs beating the shit out of scumbag enemies during rage moments then calming down and talking to them (looking at you, Naruto). What makes this even better is that Pitou isn't that evil even though she was mad disrespectful to Kite, and there isn't an inner demon or an alter ego controlling Gon, this is all his doing. This feels like a true rage moment
One detail that's amazing is that this is the only time you ever hear Killua's footsteps the entire show 😭 This is easily the greatest two episodes in anime. The writing, the music, the animation and pacing, the voice acting. Everything was done to perfection
The directing for this arc is so goated. The story moves at a snail's pace, but the way the show lingers on moments as if time is almost frozen does so much to ramp up my emotions. Even the narrator reading everything like a book contributes. Everything from fear to excitement to dread. It's so peak.
Alicia at the start: "I can't wait for this beautiful little bean to murder people." Alicia now: "I regret it! I regret everything!" I'm sorry you had to see one of your babies hurting like that I hope you'll be okay and can still enjoy the rest of Hunter Hunter. Love your reactions and hope you feel better soon. 👍
This really puts into perspective when he says "I don't care if this is the end, I will use everything" just a little bit earlier, when we didn't know what he meant exactly. This entire scene is really really well done. Definitely my favourite scene out of any anime - although, my 2nd fav scene of this anime is coming up really soon as well.
Death always plays weird with Nen. Nen is deeply tied to the resolve and strength of will of the user. If someone uses a Nen power, then dies in a way that is in any shape or form linked to the resolve they had in mind when using the power, there is a very good chance of the power doing the same thing Gon did in this episode: "oh, this is the last time we'll ever use Nen, so let's put EVERYTHING into it." Even if the circumstances of your death aren't 100% related to when you used the Nen power, if you just think of it or if it's a deep grudge you're holding, it can do that. For instance, the Phantom Troupe is terrified of moving against Kurapika until Chrollo gets the blade removed from his heart, because nobody knows what kind of horrific thing Kurapika's Nen would do to Chrollo if he died bearing such a deep grudge against the Troupe. Pitou used her Nen on herself, thinking she had to protect the King. Then she literally died in the first attack of the fight. Her resolve to keep Gon away from the King made it so her body kept being puppeteered by Terepischora after she died, all for the purpose of trying to kill Gon and, if all else failed, at least keep him occupied until his suicidal deal went fully through.
WE'RE FINALLY HEREEEE and she even asked for it,, yeah and this show is just complete peak man it still so exciting watching this again and again it's so good.
I think they forgot what Nen is... it's not just having powers, it's literal life energy. Every living being has it. Losing it doesn't make you normal, like how it was for Ichigo, it literally means exchanging your life for power.
alecia made the monkeys paw wish... she wanted gon to snap... but got gon snapping... edit: gon got to the point where he can comfortably kill pitou using a nen-restriction... which means THIS IS THE HIGHT he couldve reached naturally in his adulthood btw. goes to show just how broken the 2 kids are...
Pitou didn't lie even once during these 2 episodes, and even in general only ever omitted verbal information once. And a quick note regarding the "equal to the king" line, metaphorically/allegorically correct translation but literally it's "his fangs have reached the King's throat", a callback to a couple of episodes earlier. Important distinction because "equal to the King" and "capable of killing the King" are two different calculations. Final Edit: Azu's the GOAT for catching Killua's feet making a noise.
I feel like part of the reason Pitou was so willing to be honest with Gon is out of respect for Meruem, Gon's compliance allowing the king's will to be enacted, Gon allowed the most precious person to the king to live. At the same time, she couldn't return the favor to Gon, instead delivering the bad news to Gon that she just prevented the king from having to receive.
2 fun fact about Adult Gon: 1) The Japanese fans call him "Gon-San" which roughly translate to "Mr. Gon" 2) he is single handedly the reason why i started going to the gym, when i was 16. I saw him and thought to myself "i want to become that"
Every single time this entire series that you guys were like "I cannot wait for Gon to snap, he HAS to snap," every single one of us was thinking the same thing. The moment we all knew was coming. The Monkey's Paw can be a cruel thing. Absolutely love to see it
Pouf didn't really have a reason to use the shapeshifting abilities before, not sure what opportunities you're referring to. He couldn't really pretend to be any of the Hunters because he would be discovered instantly since he doesn't know anything about them or their personalities.
I hate how the anime didn't show it, but kite was more of a father figure to Gon when he was much younger. Knowing that, it makes sense why he snapped.
I feel like her not being able to heal kite was obvious and not her just lying if that was the case she wouldn’t have cared so much about komugis injuries if she could just revive her from the dead 🤷♂️
If I remember correctly, there was a movie that takes place before the chimera ants that explains what power gon was using. The power is called “On” and you make pacts to use it. I.E: enough power to kill pitou in exchange for his life. I think.
Fear when a series that has used the same soundtrack for its entire run barring a couple character themes busts out multiple consecutive unique tracks just to score a single event
I thought it was an interesting way to finish things up with Pitou, after validating that she hadn't been wrong to be afraid of Gon, that he is a threat. She goes so far as to turn her own body, even in death into a puppet to try and kill him to protect the king. In some way, mirroring what she did to Kite in the first place. I think it was interesting that Pitou was one of the only Ants to recognize the threats of Humans from the get go, and not from messing about and finding out. As for what Gon did, not easier to see the next time around. The baby, he didn't deserve so much trauma. Killua, up to you buddy, up to you.
Great reaction! My top 3 anime rages... the black and white is where they stayed true to the original manga artwork. I just triggered me that Gon says, go to sleep and not die... which show he's still just a kid that doesn't understand the concept of death.
One of the greatest moments, and also one of the saddest. We as an audience knew (or at least should know) Kite was dead, but having to come to that realization for Gon, it's rough.
The page of Gon's breakdown is just as hard hitting in manga too, Togashi really hurt us with that And makes sense why Gon is so strong, adult Netero we saw in start of his flashback was quite weak in comparison to current Gon. If Gon trains like hell for a decade, yeah, he is leaving Netero in dust, at least the aged up Netero we have now
Adult Gon isn't as strong as the King, nor is it what Pitou implied. They just said that his willpower could reach the King, not technically defeat him
This form of Gon is the representation of his biggest flaw. His simple mindedness. Gon was so stricken by grief, he completely forgot there are others around him to live for like Killua or Mito. And because the only thing on his mind is Kite he thought he pretty much lost everything which makes him pretty much suicidal. Had Gon just thought a little harder that that's far from the case, he could've avoided these results. But at the very least he saved everyone else from Pitou.
Remember when he said “I’ll use everything?”. He just made a Nen contract with himself, sacrificing everything himself to do that. And when he says everything…well you’ll see.
Is the first I see soneone wanted to see Gon snap, the thing about that is there is consequences for doing so, been in real life or fiction. Is never a good thing to snap, not even for the sake of encouraging impact or epicness in a scene. Gon not just sacrifice himself, but also risk everything, his family and friends will lose him, his goal is completely gone, he act recklessly without thinking of it and when is done there is just sorrow for the people who cared about him. Killua got all the weight because of it, he made his best friend watch him die, that's for me the most sad part of the episode. Is truly a piece of art.
I’ve been waiting for this episode but didn’t want to comment about my excitement in case she saw it and remembered that something happens on episode 131. 24:03 Specifically this part and beyond.

one thing I hate about the wording chosen for this episode is that when Pitou says "he's willing to never use nen again", it's the same as saying "he's willing to die for this", cause they've mentioned before (I think) that if you use up all of your nen, you die, and by saying "he's prepared to never use nen again" lessens the impact of his choice, he basically traded his life for that form, not just his nen, it'd have so much more impact if it was just worded that way
I remember seeing something that said adult gon is confirmed to be the strongest enhancer type nen used as well one of the 5 strongest characters in the hxh verse. 2 others in the ranking being netero and meruem
Its so strange to see people happly laughing during all of this episode, its not funny nor hype... its just sad. its the culmination of gon's fall. This "transformation" is not a good thing, all this arc is to show how gon's mentallity is NOT ok and this "yes lets fucking goooo, snap and get revenge" is no health at all kkkkkk Edit: And im not saying everyone should get this the first time, im just saying is weird to see all the laughing as the shit is happening xD
It is absolutely baffling how giddy Alicia gets over the concept of children suffering life-changing trauma and becoming literal murderers. She calls all these characters "her babies", but then wishes the worst possible fates on them. It's bizarre.
25:38 you KNOW its f'ed up when pitou says "i must STOP him here" not "i must KILL him" she acknowledged that she has no chance against him, so she wanted to do all she can to keep him away from the king as much as possible.
Gon followed what kurapika did. he gave himself a restriction and covenant. His restriction was he will only use his power to kill pitou. His covenant was that after he accomplishes that, he will die.
A question hardly anyone thought to ask... If Nen's power grows exponentially with conditions, what happens when someone with a lot of talent and potential decides to go "you know what, I'm using Nen for the last motherfucking time in my life right now, gimme all of it"? Well, you get this fucked up shit
Chill out dude. I've watched the anime since the 1999 version. I've felt the sadness of this scene, numerous times because it's my favorite of the arc. So take your shit attitude somewhere else.

Alicia at the start: "I can't wait for this beautiful little bean to murder people."
Alicia now: "I regret it! I regret everything!"
I'm sorry you had to see one of your babies hurting like that I hope you'll be okay and can still enjoy the rest of Hunter Hunter. Love your reactions and hope you feel better soon. 👍
I hope she'll learn to stop wishing for terrible things.
If someone uses a Nen power, then dies in a way that is in any shape or form linked to the resolve they had in mind when using the power, there is a very good chance of the power doing the same thing Gon did in this episode: "oh, this is the last time we'll ever use Nen, so let's put EVERYTHING into it."
Even if the circumstances of your death aren't 100% related to when you used the Nen power, if you just think of it or if it's a deep grudge you're holding, it can do that.
The fall of gon
The rise of Killua
The real story of Hunter X Hunter
alecia made the monkeys paw wish... she wanted gon to snap... but got gon snapping...
edit: gon got to the point where he can comfortably kill pitou using a nen-restriction... which means THIS IS THE HIGHT he couldve reached naturally in his adulthood btw. goes to show just how broken the 2 kids are...
36:24 peaked the mic with the sadness
2 fun fact about Adult Gon:
1) The Japanese fans call him "Gon-San" which roughly translate to "Mr. Gon"
2) he is single handedly the reason why i started going to the gym, when i was 16. I saw him and thought to myself "i want to become that"
Every single time this entire series that you guys were like "I cannot wait for Gon to snap, he HAS to snap," every single one of us was thinking the same thing. The moment we all knew was coming. The Monkey's Paw can be a cruel thing. Absolutely love to see it
And this, kids, is why bargains are not accepted during the Bargaining Stage of grief.
And so it is. The end of Gon, destroyed by his own hatred, just like Alicia wanted. At least we get Killua as the MC from this point forwards.
Pouf didn't really have a reason to use the shapeshifting abilities before, not sure what opportunities you're referring to. He couldn't really pretend to be any of the Hunters because he would be discovered instantly since he doesn't know anything about them or their personalities.
Meruem and the royal guards are all technically new borns so it’s interesting to watch how all their personalities end up.
Gon snapped and got the rage power up exactly like the viewers wanted him to. But Nen is damningly fair
I hate how the anime didn't show it, but kite was more of a father figure to Gon when he was much younger. Knowing that, it makes sense why he snapped.
The monent we've all been waiting for. Our broken baby boy is growing up in a blink of an eye.
Gon really went "STOP! YOU HAVE VIOLATED THE LAW!"
You wanted the Gon Freak out? Here it is.
the... Gon Freecs out..😆
I'll see myself out now😅
@alexaltenberger7324 Like father like son
Even knowing how much i watched this show, it can still just draw you in. I love this show, good reaction.
I think.
well... Alicia got what she wanted, gon snapped.
Can't wait till she gets to one piece in kuma backstory
Fear when a series that has used the same soundtrack for its entire run barring a couple character themes busts out multiple consecutive unique tracks just to score a single event
When mothers raise their sons to be crashouts, then start crying when they get shot. "He's a baby!!!!"
Nahhh that's a grown ass man. 🤣💀
Bro commented under the wrong video 😭
NGL I kinda wanna see Alicia react to episode 1 of the 1999 adaptation. One of the most unforgettable 1st episodes to me when I was young.
The sounds Hisoka would make if he saw Gon’s full potential would reverberate throughout time and space.
Killua screaming Gon's name breaks me every time. What a scene. The voice actors are second to none.
One of the greatest moments, and also one of the saddest. We as an audience knew (or at least should know) Kite was dead, but having to come to that realization for Gon, it's rough.
The moment I waited for when I saw she started watching hxh has finally arrived! And the reaction did not dissappoint!
You know none of this woulda happened if people just remembered that bungee gum has both the properties of rubber and gum
The page of Gon's breakdown is just as hard hitting in manga too, Togashi really hurt us with that
And makes sense why Gon is so strong, adult Netero we saw in start of his flashback was quite weak in comparison to current Gon. If Gon trains like hell for a decade, yeah, he is leaving Netero in dust, at least the aged up Netero we have now
"He's becoming a monster!"
that's it, that's the arc.
Killua screaming for Gon at the end makes me cry every time
Adult Gon isn't as strong as the King, nor is it what Pitou implied.
This is peak anime, anime transformation!! This is why hunter x hunter is my all time favourite anime!
24:31 HE DAMN SURE DOES LOOK LIKE KARS SILHOUETTE OH MY GOD 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Remember when he said “I’ll use everything?”. He just made a Nen contract with himself, sacrificing everything himself to do that. And when he says everything…well you’ll see.
So, what do you get when Gon spends literally all of his limitless potential in one moment?
A *MONSTER*
This was the most incredible and horrifying transformation I ever saw in anime
You were asking for Gon to snap; whole time I was thinking "Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it"
I’ve been waiting for this episode but didn’t want to comment about my excitement in case she saw it and remembered that something happens on episode 131.
24:03 Specifically this part and beyond.
35:30 Jajanken comes from the heart.
Didn't expect them to reach that episode that quick, but yeah it was intense as hell
We making it into therapy with this one 🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️‼️bro thought you could make a cake and eat it too, let's see the ingredients used‼️‼️ oh no⁉️⁉️⁉️
THE EPISODE ENDING WITH THE SOMBRE SONG, IS THE PEAKEST PEAK IVE FELT GROWING UP
Gon was already a Grade A, genuine, hall of fame crashout. Before this arc. I didn't even consider he could somehow crashout even more
one thing I hate about the wording chosen for this episode is that when Pitou says "he's willing to never use nen again", it's the same as saying "he's willing to die for this", cause they've mentioned before (I think) that if you use up all of your nen, you die, and by saying "he's prepared to never use nen again" lessens the impact of his choice, he basically traded his life for that form, not just his nen, it'd have so much more impact if it was just worded that way
27:10 As I said before, Gon isn't like other Jump protagonists
Gon is tired of looking for his Dad that he decided to become a Daddy himself.
I remember seeing something that said adult gon is confirmed to be the strongest enhancer type nen used as well one of the 5 strongest characters in the hxh verse.
2 others in the ranking being netero and meruem
someone needs to AMV gon with that "YOU LIED!" part off of kendrick
Its so strange to see people happly laughing during all of this episode, its not funny nor hype... its just sad. its the culmination of gon's fall. This "transformation" is not a good thing, all this arc is to show how gon's mentallity is NOT ok and this "yes lets fucking goooo, snap and get revenge" is no health at all kkkkkk
Edit: And im not saying everyone should get this the first time, im just saying is weird to see all the laughing as the shit is happening xD
It is absolutely baffling how giddy Alicia gets over the concept of children suffering life-changing trauma and becoming literal murderers. She calls all these characters "her babies", but then wishes the worst possible fates on them. It's bizarre.
Gon don't need Ging, he became his own Daddy.
25:38 you KNOW its f'ed up when pitou says "i must STOP him here" not "i must KILL him"
she acknowledged that she has no chance against him, so she wanted to do all she can to keep him away from the king as much as possible.
A defining moment, not just for this show, but for all anime.
Gon followed what kurapika did. he gave himself a restriction and covenant. His restriction was he will only use his power to kill pitou. His covenant was that after he accomplishes that, he will die.
oh no
the first time I heard Killua scream I teared up
The legendary 131 of Hunter x Hunter is always so pleasant to watch 🧐🍷
Everyone say hello to Gon-san and be polite to him.
Finally the arc has begun with my favorite character in the manga))
A question hardly anyone thought to ask... If Nen's power grows exponentially with conditions, what happens when someone with a lot of talent and potential decides to go "you know what, I'm using Nen for the last motherfucking time in my life right now, gimme all of it"? Well, you get this fucked up shit
ONE OF THE BEST FREAKIN' POWERUPS IN ANIME!
AND ONE OF THE BEST BEATDOWNS OF A ANTAG!
No it isn't, this is a tragedy not something to cheer like a mindless drone.🤦♂️
Chill out dude. I've watched the anime since the 1999 version. I've felt the sadness of this scene, numerous times because it's my favorite of the arc. So take your shit attitude somewhere else.
there are very few mad with anger/grief scenes that live up to this
