If Chamberpoint is to be a refuge for the living and the oppressed, then how can this coalition of different races dedicated to stop the eternal tyranny of the Undying Baron accept such a gnarly thing as a necromancer in their own midst? At the very least Urvad ought to be barred from any and all political participation or social leadership role until she has proven herself through exceptional sacrifice and service, thus shall my proposal to the Provisionary Council for the Souvereignty of the Mortals of Orid Ashi be!
Nahhh, what could possibly go wrong with a necromancer being mayor? It's not like it will just be another cycle of tyranny . Besides, necromancers are cool. In all honesty tho, yeah don't be trusting of a necromancer lol
Considering the first targets of Moldath's conquest were all the other necromancers in the region? I'm inclined to trust these folks at least a smidgen more...'enemy of my enemy' and all. Still, best for everyone to keep a damn close eye on the bastards.
He spoke about mermaids in the sea...I am wondering if these mermaids are actually carp-men. I had a fortress that was infiltrated by a Carp-God cult. It became pretty lovecraftian before the fortress fell. Lots of half dwarven/carp abominations running around.
You’re bug-like illustration of fairies and pixies was incredibly creative. It had me laughing a great deal and I adore it. That alone has made me incredibly excited for the rest of the series, I come for the game, and I stay for the wonderful art and storytelling. Adoring your work Mr. Krugg. Excellent job!
The way the bugs affect the story is one of the best parts of these things. Glory to DF in all its jankiness. And congratulations to Kuggsmash for his ability to weave these irregularities into the narrative.
I really appreciate your decision to start this new fortress as a second standalone part of the series. For those that haven't watched SF the background and lore of the world becomes like a legend, but one not just generated by the game, which is fantastic. It's great that new viewers won't need to know it, but will learn it from another groups view. For the rest of us it's like having this unique viewpoint on these people we know well, but seen through the eyes of others. It's very satisfying, almost like a book you've previously read before others watch it's TV adaption. You can't help but enjoy the theory crafting about characters, even when you already know how things will play out. Also the Baron at the end made me laugh out loud, nice touch.
Hey Krugg, for future reference if you want to have your retired adventurers be immediately able to perform labors when you unretire the fort at hand, you can finagle your adventurers into full citizenship by getting them into the fort's militia. Here's how to do it: 1) Set up a Militia Commander via the Nobles interface 2) Make a new military squad and make the militia commander the leader of the squad. This step must be done or else you will not get the dialogue option to request to be a militia dwarf 3) Gather some fancy items that you're OK with giving to the militia commander to make him think highly of your adventurers. I've used artifacts in the past yoinked from kobold caves; they've been a guarantee to work so far 4) Mosey your party on over to the fortress, and have each adventurer give enough goodies to the militia commander such that he responds in the positive to the adventurer becoming a militia member 5) Retire your party there, unretire the fort, and voila your adventurers can now be assigned labors P.S.: Love your content, dude. Your drawings are super good, and have repeatedly surprised me through what you make those crayons do. Tally that and the obvious creativity that goes into your designs and we've got an S tier UA-camr. Thank you for doing what you do.
The reason the AI brings in animals to roam the fortress when you retire it is because the animals help prevent the downward spiral of angry dwarfs that ends most forts. Just thought you should know about why it does that in case you did not already, also it is a nice way to prevent your dwarfs from getting depressed because it sucks when a dwarf you like decides that life is terrible
I love that Scorchfountain is a hard iron working fortress primarily built of Dwarves, everything feels so lifeless and solid. But this fortress is wood and above ground and is built from a ragtag group of smaller civilizations united to fight Scorchfountain. It feels like something straight out of a fantasy novel.
Man im so excited about this new fortress. The fact that you have a different species and you have the task of stopping the bearless baron, a character that we finally appreciate throughout the series makes me say that the next video can only be better !
Krugg, my man, I get visibly excited when I see a new upload from you. I bounced off of Dwarf Fortress pretty hard, even after your introductory stuff, but the stories you manage to tell and the quality of your content is just amazing. Love you, bro, keep doing what you're doing!
Watching this I kept thinking of Moldath -- a man who lost his family, whose son was devoured. Now, he stands as the villain of a story. He's forgotten himself. How many mothers and fathers mourn their sons? How long has it been since he felt anything at all? The Beardless Baron has become a nightmare figure for this world, and in his wake he leaves countless families torn apart as his own was. This arc is going to be something special, I can tell.
I'm constantly taken aback by your art. Truly outstanding story-telling with so much character and imagination. It's all great. I sometimes find myself pausing to admire the details. The dwarven skull (sort of) hung by the beard on a pike near the beginning when you're talking about the land's wars, Fish Face, pixies like I never would have imagined them looking, fairies like I definitely would never have imagined them looking xD, the landscapes, that black bear dude's awesome staff which is definitely an artifact (5:30), gorlaks, etc. I love how you bring it all to life. Thank you for all your work.
The sheer amount of effort you put into this series is incredible. The art, the narration, the gameplay, the direction, all above and beyond and of the highest quality. Thanks for the great content

Yes! I’m so glad you’re doing this. I was always kinda wishing you’d do something like this with your previous series. And now it’s happening! Hell yes! Strike the earth!
Well.. that's a creative take on fairies! I... I like it! it's nice to see such a change with those massively popular fantasy creatures. Good Job Krug.
Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Pandamen, Bearmen, Gorlacks, Necromancer experiments AND necromancers... Gee, talk about a multicultural outpost. Good luck with the relationships.
# Just an idea for connecting the various Chapters: Name the videos "Chamberpoint, Orid Ashi". That would make it clear those two chapters belong to the same book. 12:30 Those Panda eating habbits are indeed rather tricky. Maybe you could make sure that the major paths across the fortress all contain some grassland? That way they would have many opportunities to "eat on the go". Indeed, them not needing a dedicated spot to eat could become a huge advantage. # As those are hill dwarves, how about putting a layer of dirt in as 2nd walls or roof? That would be a way to imitate the traditional hills, without sacrificing structural stability. You could even grow grass on those fake hills, for the Pandas... 25:15 A soap maker necromance? "Prepare to dry"?
I feel like he ought to kick them out, both necromancers and panda folk, they have special dietary needs that put extra and unneeded strain on the already strained resources of this resistance movement, and as to the necromancers.....they ought to be exiled if not executed, tolerance of a necromancer no matter how good their intentions or lack of harm they cause at first led us into this situation in the first place.....
@@noahmiller8042 Pandas can feed on any patch of grass. A bit of planing, and it is as easy as any grazing animal. Necromancers have been a thing for centuries before Moldath. 2 of the species in the fortress would not exist without them. And Moldath went after other Necromancers very aggressively, making them natural allies. For now.
Oh boy, and here I had barely started watching Scorchfountain. Thank you for tirelessly providing this top quality content, this is easily the most entertaining Dwarf Fortress channel I know of and one of my favorite corners on all of UA-cam. Edit: Oof, I should really try to get the name of the game right next time...
I don't know about panda people, but pandas will only eat bamboo. Which is a real pain. As for the situation with fishface; in adventure mode, your adventurer(s) train their physical skills at all time, instead only during jobs, like fortress mode. So your original party are probably super fast after all that walking. Exhaustion is based on how much they carry multiplied by the distance they carry it, so a dwarf that carries a little but zips around like that will get exhausted faster.
Love the dancing Moldath! I'm excited to see how this new fortress goes, but I must admit that I'm still in Moldath's corner. There will be true peace for Orid Ashi!

I mean dude you better sleep after finishing this. Staying up too long is not good for you in the long run. Stay safe.
@@yogabollen523 tis only 30 more minutes
I get those late nights and suffering through insomnia for sure enjoy the episode, but please take care of yourself fellow bearded bastard 👌🏾✨
To all worried I slept a solid 9 hours and woke up refreshed, happy to see random people on the internet still care about random other people
KRUGG WHY DIDNT YOU CALL FISH FACE “The flying fish.”
Exocet was nice too
Somewhere Moldath is staring into a crystal ball, with his feet up and his hand in a bag full of snacks, watching this fortress and laughing!
But I am of course delighted to see this new fort take shape! Keep it up Kruggs.
One day in the far future times they will tell grand tales of this alliance. A world saved not by dwarves or elves alone, but the Mike Wazowski-Men, the Furries and the Orc-Lite™ people too. Truely an astounding feat of teamwork
In all honesty tho, yeah don't be trusting of a necromancer lol
nah those necromancers joined to oppose the evil practices of that bearless baron!
Considering the first targets of Moldath's conquest were all the other necromancers in the region? I'm inclined to trust these folks at least a smidgen more...'enemy of my enemy' and all. Still, best for everyone to keep a damn close eye on the bastards.
If one does cross a dwarf in the high wilderness, make sure one does count his teeth, lest ye be fooled by a fae.
He spoke about mermaids in the sea...I am wondering if these mermaids are actually carp-men. I had a fortress that was infiltrated by a Carp-God cult. It became pretty lovecraftian before the fortress fell. Lots of half dwarven/carp abominations running around.
Ocean Fort Finally?! I loved that first underwater one, I got high hopes for this one!
The dancing Muldath at the end was actually pretty hilarious. Good stuff!
I want to know the history of that necromancer. This is how the Beardless Baron began.
Damn Moldath can bust a move he should get a pack of damned ones and make a dance team. I would dub them “The Restless Bones”.
Moldath got them mo-oo-OOO-oo-ooo-OOves like Jagger~...
...and a face like Jagger, too.
It would be cool if the Gorlaks(?) lived underground with like a library or something.
You know you’re in dire straits when you gotta curb your lumber industry to please the knife-ears.
Hey Krugg, for future reference if you want to have your retired adventurers be immediately able to perform labors when you unretire the fort at hand, you can finagle your adventurers into full citizenship by getting them into the fort's militia. Here's how to do it:
1) Set up a Militia Commander via the Nobles interface
2) Make a new military squad and make the militia commander the leader of the squad. This step must be done or else you will not get the dialogue option to request to be a militia dwarf
3) Gather some fancy items that you're OK with giving to the militia commander to make him think highly of your adventurers. I've used artifacts in the past yoinked from kobold caves; they've been a guarantee to work so far
4) Mosey your party on over to the fortress, and have each adventurer give enough goodies to the militia commander such that he responds in the positive to the adventurer becoming a militia member
5) Retire your party there, unretire the fort, and voila your adventurers can now be assigned labors
P.S.: Love your content, dude.
I hope the good Baron properly disposes of this ragtag band of misfits. This world needs to be united!
Oh my god those designs for the pixies and fairies are so cool and unique
All your art continues to be awesome tbh !!
A last Alliance of elves, dwarves, and men...and panda people, and black bear people and gorlaks.
United against the Dark Lord.
Im in.
One of these days he is going to come Whit some paintings that is going to become a relic
You posted this as I was 2 minutes into rewatching the last one 😂
INCREDIBLE INTRO!!!!!
Love the new dancing dwarf at the end! He looks familiar.
A great start for another surely epic fortress. Thank you for the behind the scenes info at the end of the video, very helpful and informative!!👍
Merfolk? Are you planning on making crafts from their expensive bones?
Man im so excited about this new fortress. The fact that you have a different species and you have the task of stopping the bearless baron, a character that we finally appreciate throughout the series makes me say that the next video can only be better !
LOVE the new end-dance. Really starting to look forward to your end-of-video blurb. Keep on Keepin on!
Krugg, my man, I get visibly excited when I see a new upload from you. I bounced off of Dwarf Fortress pretty hard, even after your introductory stuff, but the stories you manage to tell and the quality of your content is just amazing. Love you, bro, keep doing what you're doing!
I have absolutely no interest in playing Dwarf Fortress, but love every Kruggsmash video.
14:50 “Put a bunch of crabs in there and see if we can get some kind of a breeding thing going” is my new favorite pickup line.
I pay to be a Patreon, but I don't pay nearly enough for such quality! Thank you Krug!
Aw yeah! The world-building on this channel is absolutely phenomenal. This could be a book!
Been watching your channels for so long and only just realised I wasn't subbed
never expected fav strat game UA-camr to be commenting under by fav narrative youtuber lol
Holy shit it's potato
@@dunerh pretty much the exact same deal with me too. wild huh, although, glad to see
Rewatching this series is so stressful. XD Chamberpoint was a disaster from start to finish; I feel bad for all the characters who tried to live here.
The sheer amount of effort you put into this series is incredible. The art, the narration, the gameplay, the direction, all above and beyond and of the highest quality. Thanks for the great content
I've just discovered your channel and this is amazing content. Your gameplay combined with the art and stories is just amazing! In a way im glad it took me so long because now I can binge all of your older content!
Honestly this is a really amazing thing to see! A whole diverse civilization banded together fight back a common foe, this is wonderful story telling and I can’t wait to see what chaos comes of this.
Tbh I think this youtube series is lowkey a great critique of the "great man of history" theory.
KRUGGG!
I hope you and your family are doing well in these trying times! Love from NZ!
I discovered this game and this channel 2 days ago, watched SKullhorror (the RIgid South Nightmare-Fortress of Death), subscribed and now a new series is starting! Awesome!
I recommend you watch Scorchfountain, it's a prequel to this series.
The music, the sound effects, the story are all so amazing. I am so grateful that you can make these.
Omg that outro is just... wonderful. So glad I watched to the very end. That was just as rewarding as a Marvel credit scene.
Krugg, always know that we love and appreciate the sheer amount of effort you put into your videos. Also, kudos for being able to set up such a story based series in DF, the most finicky but fun game known to man.
Love it!! Thanks again for an awesome episode @Kruggsmash!! Great one as always.
I just love your illustrations! The scratchy coloured pencil makes it so unique and almost a bit childish (which is a good thing). I would buy a book of you illustrated it.
Really appreciate the work you put into these episodes! Gameplay and definitely storytelling-wise!
Thank you!
Awesome! I love this idea of playing as a fortress in the same world as Scorchfountain and telling the story from a different point of view.
Yes! I’m so glad you’re doing this. I was always kinda wishing you’d do something like this with your previous series. And now it’s happening! Hell yes! Strike the earth!
I read that as "Chamberpot" and thought "Well, this is going to be a bit shit fortress now isn't it?"
Well.. that's a creative take on fairies! I... I like it! it's nice to see such a change with those massively popular fantasy creatures. Good Job Krug.
Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Pandamen, Bearmen, Gorlacks, Necromancer experiments AND necromancers...
Gee, talk about a multicultural outpost. Good luck with the relationships.
BTW, what a coincidence that the series start with the arrival of a friendly necromancer. Truly, a great coincidence.
The Beardless Baron threatens all, and all must band together if his dark, well-shaven plans are to be foiled!
Your storytelling is top notch. I've been watching you for a while, and the improvement is hard to ignore.
Keep up the great work!
You are absolutely my favorite content creator. Thanks for making my week with this upload
Careful, he loves lyes
@@BDWANNEMACHER ... "Lyer, Lier, Pants on Dryer~" ( A children's folk song from Chamberpoint, Orid Ashi -est- 12th century. ) >)X^D
I love this interpretation of Pixies and Fairies. Excellent work, Krugg.
They are still sapient creatures.
This is gonna be so awesome! Love what you did with, starting the place already packed with a bunch of randos. Great story-telling potential.
Love the dancing Moldath! I'm excited to see how this new fortress goes, but I must admit that I'm still in Moldath's corner. There will be true peace for Orid Ashi!
I have never played dwarf fortress, but i am just fascinated by this tale. good job sir.
Aw yeah! I really needed to use the chamberpoint. Love the giant purple Saint's Row homage in the logo!
That image of Stākud pulling the blackbear person's flews and jabbing his finger at him really made me smile 😊
So happy to see more gorlaks! I just loved how you designed them. They are amazing
Got hooked on Scorchfountain and now i am here after binge watching.
You are wielding Dwarf Fortress like a proper tool of finest craftsdwarfship in terms of storytelling.
That aside i really love where this is going it's rare to see both sides of the tale in fantasy settings,
especially since I was confident you would kill Moldath by bringing him to some of those raids back then.
I love the wave effects in DF. So simple yet so effective.
