    My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
    On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
    I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.
    You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.
    Enjoy browsing!
    Love,
    Lucy

    This is such a pretty look, I've found the flexirolls (or curl noodles as my siblings call them) tend to have the wire come out a bit through the foam after a few uses. Not sure if I just had a crap set or what

    i suggest running your fingers through with a light oil on them to get a shiny frizzless finish, it wont weigh down the curls and it'll help you mold your hair however you want

    I was just binge watching your vintage makeup videos and though I'd pop in with a couple of recommendations. In an effort to stop using plastic I purchased the cake mascara from Besame cosmetics and I absolutely love it! I use it with setting spray instead of water to get a longer lasting look and it really does last better than regular mascara. And it's completely build-able, you can do multiple coats and get really fluffy lashes or one light coat and get a very natural effect. The trick with it is to use a good spoolie and mix the liquid in until its thick. If it's too runny it will be messy and if you have straight lashes that you have to curl (like myself lol) they will lose the curl. Besame also has cream rouge in 3 beautiful colours. All of their products perform beautifully and feel luxurious to use. I also have a cream cheek and lip stain from Sustainyoself that has cardboard packaging and works beautifully.

    If I am going for 50s, I use the biggest guys up top, tiny guys at the base of my neck to hide my ends under, and curl the hair in front of my ears vertically towards my face so any creases are behind the curl. I also don't like product on rods. The plastic doesn't absorb much so it just cakes on my hair. Thankfully, water and sleep do the trick.

    Ah yes, a hair tutorial just after my batch of the function of beauty arrived. I've seen these at Kruidvat before, I'll keep my eye out for them when I go to one again! The mohawk is a look just in itself LOL. No matter the method, these always look so time and patience consuming but I do like how the final result turned out and they do seem smoother and easier to take out than foam clip-on rollers(not sure if that's how they are called?). Still, the toothpick ones keep the crown of curls just for the cheer ingeniousness, but these are second best!

    • @schneeroseful
      @schneeroseful 4 роки тому +1

      The more porous the foam is, the more your hair will cling to the roller when you take them out

    • @brigitteseeber17
      @brigitteseeber17 4 роки тому

      With the getting them out, it's much easier. But with the kruidvat ones (and I think all of them) has a plastic nub on the end where the wire is attached. Anx because you bend it a lot there is some wiggle room, and that wire wiggle room is where your hair will really easily get caught.

    Lucy, I have very long hair. About 40 inches, and it's somewhat coarse and holds curl very well. I have been frustrated with using curling irons b/c they are so short. In all your years doing hair, have you ever seen extra long barrels? Like 12 inches or more?

    it looks very 80s but in the best way, i love the type of waves/curls flexirods provide (it tends to look more casual and less helmet-like on me) but they're just so heavy and virtually impossible to sleep in for me and if it's still ever so slightly humid it just falls back (like your bangs there) so it either looks absolutly perfect on me or really stupid-looking, there's no inbetween

    Bought like 20 of those (first method I ever tried for vintage-like curls) but I know I need at least one more pack of 10 rollers because my hair is thick and long(right below bra strip, yeah for me it's long 😅) and 20 weren't enough...
    I hope I can actually succeed doing this with my kind and length of hair, I don't want to cut it shorter right now 🙈

    • @ArisuTheFirst
      @ArisuTheFirst 4 роки тому +1

    Hi Lucy :D I know you have commented about having a hair shed over the years. have you ever taken collagen? Many claim that it's very good for hair regrowth. I know you eat vegan and collagen isn't vegan, but I didn't know if eating vegan could actually contribute to thinner hair? Just some thoughts. Not judging. Great video as usual!
