You saved me.I couldn't figure it out for an hour. The mechanism turned sour a little, but knowing how to do it, I developed it.Good luck on the roads.Greetings from Saint Petersburg

This also applies to the Dacia Lodgy 2019 onwards, which they changed from the cradle to this winch system. The bolt to turn to lower the spare is on the left of the boot/trunk space.

Thanks. It never occurred to me that you had to press down on that bracket to get the socket on the nut. After 16 years the rim was rusted away but the tyre was perfect.

Thank you. Just checked my spare and found out I'm missing half the tools from the toolkit and the thing that holds the wheel to the cable had rusted solid. Wheel is in bad shape too.

Will be doing this at the weekend. Make sure it's good for in the event of a puncture

@@Daniel-tz3gn - It's called prevention and/or maintenance according to when the intervention take place. I assure you it works perfectly when done.
BTW Ideally at least once a year you should take action. To check pressure/fill up the spare tire. That's the perfect time.
Point is that someone really must do it. ;-)
Some manufacturers opt by "plastic" winch components. No issues with rust. But not as strong.

The most complicated procedure!!!! Why didn't Renault make it like the rest of the cars just place it underneath the trank carpet easy access !!!!!

Obviously you never had to deal with a spare tire and a full trunk!! Which BTW should be said is the main reason why external access is FUNDAMENTAL. Particularly in a peoples carrier, SUV's and other vehicles with similar propensity to carry a lot of luggage. On a small city car that's another story. Since the demands are so different!
Among others I had to deal precisely with that on a Mercedes. While the trunk was, literally, loaded to the roof!! That on a >3500km trip! Long story short. Did everything I could to reach a workshop!
Passing a couple of hours unloading and afterwards reloading the trunk. On a rainy highway in the middle of nowhere in Europe. Somehow didn't appeal to me... at all! ;-)

@@crpth1 Well, on this one you still operate it from the inside.
