One of the advantages of Older Age (I'm 61), is that I'm old enough and was lucky enough to live not too far from Miramar NAS in San DIego. I can't tell you how many times I saw/watched a Flight of F4's doing The Break over the base for landing. The downwind, base and final were very close to Hwy 163 now I15....so I got a close look at ALL the planes operating from the later 60's, 70's 80's and 90's. And I was a Navy Brat so when I got my drivers license/car, I used to drive down to the flightline....find a good place to park and watch.
Sounds like an absolute blast, It will be awesmoe for you to be able to experience the plane yourself soon enough

Nice job on this one. It's going to the benchmark for DCS module makers, I think. It is a big fan favorite too and it looks amazing!
But all DCS MODs are great! Fan favorite for sure though.

@@billpii6314 there's a clear gap between Heatblur and everyone else - ED caught up but has some really wonky modules, Milviz is still... up and downs. Others are hit or miss too. Heatblur is like home run every time, they set new standards, new ideas.
This like the Hornet has a really unique distinctive planform look.
You know exactly what it is when you see the shape.
My first air show
Great way to intro the plane. When I was young, one of my first Airfix models was the F4 Phantom. It seems I'm about to go full circle from running around with a model airplane pretending to fly to (when it arrives) sitting in the seat in VR and experiencing the plane in flight....Can't wait.
Wow that was a great demo! I'm looking forward to hearing the release date and getting my hands on this legendary module!

Well, that was nice. But I was hoping to see the more of the cockpit. Especially, the instrument panels ..
I was wowed by the view in the cockpit of the pilot & outside. That looked way better than I have seen in DCS before. And yes, seeing the instrument panels would have been cool.
Was the F-4 this maneuverable in real life?
Apparently from the E variant on, it was. They added LERX &tweaked the wings for better wing loading. It made a hellacious difference.

Looks amazing, no doubt. I will buy this package at some point. But I've got to point out that this sim seems a bit too responsive compared to the real world F-4 Phantom. There are plenty of real demo videos and even the takeoff performance in the real world is dramatically different. It takes TIME for control inputs to translate to actual changes of direction. This lag between stick movement and plane reaction is something every pilot has to learn to compensate for. DCS could stand to be improved by modelling this phenomenon more accurately.
apologies for the late reply. I had heard other people say this. I guess my main comment is that it's not a public release version yet, so it likely isn't "true to life". No doubt they will tweak it as time goes by.
Am probably gonna be flamed for this, well, lets be honest, the F-4 fanbois are out so I AM gonna be flamed... The roll rate looks a little too snappy, to my eye at any rate. She looked to be very "light". The dirty roll was kinda... Meh.
the manoeuvrability was better than I expected, but that's not to say my expectations were correct. I am sure HB will make tweaks over time if needed.
As an aviation fan who has been to many air shows down under this is exactly how it is done ! 1st class job ! Thankyou for a great video 👏
I mean, the little vibrations on the wings as she taxis by the crowd..just UNREAL!! Such attention to even the tiniest details is mind-blowing!!!!! (10:32). Never would've dreamed anything like this would be available for fighter pilot wanna-bes. Can NOT wait for release!!!
i love the f-4e so much, Mig 21s got surprised when this behemoth could turn rate better than them while holding energy. Also talking about this video: this is a great execution, especially the pilot animations!

The best news in 2024 will be releasing this legendary module. I can't wait seeing it in IRAN's Phantom skin specially the skin of Bushehr squadron with the shark mouth noses!!! Oh God! ❤
I think its over performing, it did a minimum radius turn in 21 seconds, if you watch airshows they do minimum turns in 27-28 seconds
The f14 was also overperforming in the same way, achieving 5th gen minimum circles lol

I use to take seeing these beasts at airshows for granted. They were just always there. I'd give my right arm to watch one fly again. Those J-79s are stupid loud.
Immediately takes me back to the Macdill Air Fest in i think 1992, after desert storm. That smoke trail, the sound, the commentary was spot on.

I still struggle mightly to fly any chopper in DCS. But it is a fun cool environment.

I was lucky enough to see the last few Japanese F-4s in person at Kadena while I was stationed there. What a beautiful, terrifying, sexy beast.
lucky duck! I have never seen one live, although I did find out the RAAF flew them for a while, while waiting for our F111s to arrive. I believe we have one in a museum on the east coast of Australia. I hope to see it one day.
If the flight modeling is as good as shown here (and there is _no_ reason Heatblur would slack) then I am impressed. Not only by the stunning, lifelike detail, but by the performance. I never knew that the F-4E was as agile as it is; dude was making some tight corners that looked more like a Viper than anything. This is going to be a popular aircraft, in part because it appears like it will be competitive with most jets in DCS.
I hope, anyway :) 😂😅. Great job, Heatblur.

The Max performance turn is without drop tanks or external stores, and i suspect with a minimum fuel load
All airshow demos are flown this way, so it affects all aircraft similarly.
