    Glad to finally have all this info in one place, and NG did a great job explaining it.

    Nice video, goos explanations. But I still would have loved to see some Graphics regarding the price structures of the different stages, since i recently tried to look them up and had a hard time finding them.

    How many Play In Points are needed for a qualifier appears to have just been said in passing. I think I heard '20', but it's important enough that it's worth spelling out.

      20 is right! Sorry if I was a bit unclear on that.

    So you can buy in to the qualifier tournies OR you can get access to the QT via PiP's OR reaching top 1200 each season(or what ever they're considered these days)?

    • @MTGNerdGirl
      @MTGNerdGirl 2 роки тому +1

      Play in qualifier = gems, PiP's OR reaching top 1200
      Qualifier weekend = Playin win, top 250 rank, Arena open wins

    So I'm guessing she's leaving out MTGO in that "most paths to world champion" description ?
    Since Arena is clearly not designed for competitive players-
    (Sometimes one wonders if it's specifically designed to be hostile to competitive players so that casual players don't feel too oppressed ? I'd rather bet on incompetence though...)
    -and while the "the path to become the next world champion [...] largely in your underwear" took a while to materialize on MTGO (which came out in 2002), it looks like it has been *fully* the case since the MTGO World Championship debuted in 2009 ? (Why doesn't Wikipedia have the data from 2020 on ?)

      This video was made for the MTGArea UA-cam specifically, so I tried to focus on that. I would be happy to look more into the mtgo paths for you.🥰
      I am sorry though that this video made you feel excluded. This was not my intention.

      @@MTGNerdGirl Hmm, I guess my message came out wrong ? It was not my intention to blame you for leaving out this information (since, as you say, it's more targeted at the Arena player).
      I also don't *really* care about all of this, to start with I'm *definitely* not a competitive player !
      I guess I just like knowing things... and I guess because I have discovered some of these issues rather recently, I am somewhat still empathizing with the issues that the competitive players suffer on Arena.
      (And I looked into getting into MTGO recently, but WotC/Daybreak IMHO badly screwed up the Double Masters 2022 pricing for a non-redeemable product there.)
      Oh, and I guess I also share the competitive players' frustration with some of other Arena shortcomings...

      @@BlueTemplar15 I'm guessing you refer to the fact that MTGA is not an accurate representation of a tabletop experience due to how it has hand shaping and land algorithms as well as these digital only formats, while omitting pioneer and modern?

    • @BlueTemplar15
      @BlueTemplar15 2 роки тому

      @@Xorthis No, the difficulty of creating randomness and the bad game experience coming from randomness is a problem with paper Magic, to the point that I recommend blind mana-weaving for casual play, and I'm pretty happy with the "2 extra parallel universe decks" solution that Bo1 Arena has.
      As for modern but especially pioneer, it makes sense it would take time to add them, but Arena seems to take it more seriously now (though I'd still expect Arena's servers to be shut down before we get most of Modern there).
      This is about how competitive players have to grind / spend money to be able to craft top tier decks ASAP (and those focused on standard can't even sell their old cards), how they are most of the time properly matched instead of being able to prey on newbies, and how their ratings aren't even shown to them, so it takes an expected ~600 games (constructed, Bo1) each month to get to Mythic at which point they can indirectly see a rating and start guessing whether they are making progress or not.

      @@BlueTemplar15luckily MTGa brings in an assload of profit, and attraction, especially now. Supplemental card add ons have been added steadily bringing in older sets. They’ve even added mh3 to mtga. If you play long enough with a competitive mindset you won’t have problems making the cards/ decks you need for competitive play! The cool thing about it is that my only investment is the time I spend playing. At least I think it’s cool lol
