Bonnie should have been the one with someone that chose her first and Elena should have woken up, been alone and moved on with her mortal life, with Damon moved on to Bonnie or someone else.
Bonnie deserved a happy ending as well, but so did elena. And bonnie did get someone that chose her first. Enzo. She will reunite with him when she dies. Just because bonnie didn't get the happy ending people wanted doesn't mean elena doesn't deserve her happy ending. I am a bamon fan myself, but the fact is damon does love bonnie, but saw her more as a sister/ bff, which isn't his fault either.
