Jerry friggin Douglas, man!! He was on fire on all of this. Dan singing Home From the Forrest was incredible. Sam’s break on Me and My Guitar is legendary as well. What a set.
Christmas '21 - thank you for sharing. Hope all Bluegrass family and friends have a good Christmas. Where does the time go? 1975 was only yesterday... RIP Tony. All your old friends are thinking of you -
@@1945d18 The Manzanita band re-formed for the first time since its 1979 Great American Music Hall performance. Lacking Ricky Skaggs, this ensemble adds Dan Tyminski (guitar, vocals) and Barry Bales (bass) of Union Station, and Gabe Witcher (fiddle) from Jerry Douglas' touring unit. This was a completely wonderful set, recreating the youthful spirit of the original, ground-breaking recording but played with the world-class virtuosity you'd expect from this group of stellar musicians. Darol Anger joined in for the Tony Rice classic "Manzanita"; the rest of the set was pure musical exhilaration punctuated by sheer silliness, as when Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas took advantage of Tony's frenetic solo during "Nine Pound Hammer" and carefully tucked Rice's pant legs into his boot tops.
R.I.P., Tony. I can’t say how much this man’s music has done for me...
Same. Anyone know who is on fiddle ?
Sorry, Darol Anger playing fiddle.
@@als1023 Jerry introduces Gabe Witcher on fiddle
@@willanderson5887 At 35:14 it sounds like Sam Bush saying " Darol Anger on fiddle" I got confused for the whole set, thank you for your reply.
@@als1023 right you are! he must have sat in for one or more tunes!
