+Coolbeans99 Having more hearts doesn't make a game easier, if anything, it means the levels are harder to make it balanced and fun. Although, it didn't include Diddy or water levels, it wouldn't really effect this already fantastic game by much considering they put so much from the previous games.

Best gift I got for Christmas last year. It was the closest feeling to all my Christmases of the early to mid 90s.... getting a game I really, really wanted and playing it for hours. To anyone debating buying it, definitely worth the purchase.
I remember going nuts seeing this at home. Imagine how much louder the crowd would've been if the Kremlings had returned. My hope is that next year Retro Studios will complete the trilogy on the NX. With the return of the Kremlings. Would be sweet if they decided to make a new head of the kremling krew. Just to switch it up a bit. Maybe a Secret ending facing K. Rool.
They already did that in DKC3 with KAOS. A new and unique twist (for the series, not in terms of games and media in general) would be to have the Kremlings ally with the Kongs due to a greater threat (like the Snowmads or something).

It took me seven years to beat the donkey kong country gameboy version of this because i got so frustrated at it, but this was one of my favorite games. YOU ROCK NINTENDO.
After 14 years since this magnificent return of the Donkey Kong Country saga was revealed, they are going to re-release this game (again) but this time on the Nintendo Switch in the form of a Remaster/Port in HD for 2025, and the best thing is which will have the additional levels of the Nintendo 3DS version, how crazy (And curiously it has also been 14 years without having a new Donkey Kong Country since Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! in 1996).
I kinda can't imagine DKC series without it's recognizable SGI graphics. I hope they'll nail that style on the Wii U, since it has bigger capabilities.
@Jubileegirly - This was ALL THE WAY AT E3. The game was already released. Plus, this is a Donkey Kong COUNTRY game. This particular series was and ALWAYS WILL BE a sidescroller.

When I was a kid playing the snes I imagined that 2D platform games would just get better and better but along came 3D and everybody stopped making them! I never really took to 3D games consoles as a teenager/ student, started drinking and living a low-fi life! But now as an adult I see Mario bros and DK with beautiful new aesthetics 2D format, I might just have to get myself a Wii !!

I agree that this game really brought a lot of that feeling back. Though, they could have improved the soundtrack a little, brought back more animals than just Rambi, put some old enemies back in the game, and bring elements that Rare made back in the game. The rest of the game was PURE WIN!
They had the sprites, they had the platforming but they couldn't recapture the magic. Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 2 were perfect games... It's a nice tribute though, although it's one that's probably already forgotten.

The lack of Kremlings (And Kongs besides Cranky) did suck, but everything else about the game was so damn good that I didn't care about that after a while. Retro knocked this one out of the park.

DK IS one of the most important Charakters existing. With him (well, actually it was his granddad Cranky) and Jumpman (=Mario) everything started.
Im glad that Nintendo brought back the Classic feel for Donkey Kong for once. Donkey kong country returns is currently very good and still has the classic feel to them from SNES days. Thanks Nintendo for the classic feel again =] especially with the music and others. Even though it got different enemies however I still miss the kremlins and K.Rool though but oh well.
