In Alfafar, to name one of those places that has been hit, firefighters from all corners, from Barcelona, Motril, Malaga, were yesterday going through private garages to bail out water and check the trapped cars. Outside the municipal boundaries, soldiers and civil guards are searching by land, sea and air ravines, beaches and the Albufera in search of bodies swept away by the water. Among them, those of little Rúben and Izan, aged three and five. On Tuesday afternoon they were with their father in the living room of their country house, where the power had already gone out, when they were frightened by a loud bang. The children's uncle and grandmother explain that the noise was that of a truck being dragged by the current through the ravine of l'Horteta and which hit the back of the house, tearing off a wall. A torrent of water swept away the three of them. The father managed to grab onto a branch, which he clung to for four hours, until the water level dropped enough for him to search for his two sons.
