As a member of team 17116(the leading team in the Creighton Prep Ri3D). We chose to do the hammerhead mecanum drive in order to try and reduce the affect of the ground junctions. This did not work but if you were to make the front and back independent from the main part, it would probably work well. Another reason we used it was because it was a base we had laying around that was smaller than 18x18.
