Can we all collectively agree that this show isn't actually canon? It failed so hard compaired to it's predecessors that it doesn't even deserve the same title as them.
What gets me even more angry at this series is that they spent three movies and a show developing the dragons and the incredible animation in the movies... Only for them to give us that.
Avatar: The Last Airbender "fans" like to rag on The Legend of Korra for not meeting the expectations set, which is fair, but they give it so much crap. Too much, in fact. But you seriously want to see a media that spits in the face of its very core themes and foundation? Look no further than Nine Realms. This show seriously pisses me off. I haven't even seen it yet, and I don't even have to because I _know_ it's bad. It is nothing but cash-grab and that's just pathetic.
I really wish DreamWorks just made another series like Race to the Edge that takes place between the second and third movie. Race to the Edge and the Cartoon Network series were much better than The Nine Realms.
Race to the Edge was so, so good! It's one of my favorites, right up there with AtlA. Animations started a little janky and it had its duds for some episodes but the overall product was so insanely good. The downside is that I really didn't like the third movie that much because of how great RttE was.

In my opinion, Alex should've been the main character of the show. She gets more development than anyone else really. The second season is slightly better, but that's not saying much 😓
Since they kept the skrill they should’ve just kept the original dragons. Like the girl with the chameleon dragon could’ve had a changewing and maybe for the Astrid 2.0 it could’ve just been a monstrous nightmare that bred with a hideous zippleback
It feels like just about every character in this show is a cheap knockoff of a character in the original HTTYD franchise. - Tom = Hiccup knockoff - Jun = Astrid knockoff (even her character model's head looks like a recoloured version of Astrid from RTTE) - D'Angelo = Fishlegs/Snotlout knockoff (Fishlegs in the sense that he's an animal lover; Snotlout in terms of his physical build and in the sense that he's often the butt of the joke) - Alexandra = AN ACTUAL ORIGINAL CHARACTER (though she does seem to at least partially based off Fishlegs, in the sense that she's the quiet, nerdy, intelligent character) - Olivia (Tom's mom) = Valka knockoff (her face is basically the same as Valka's with a few changes, and she's the main character's caring, brave, and "fun" mother) - Thunder = Toothless knockoff (why is his face shaped that way?) - Wu and Wei = Barf and Belch knockoff, but Chinese (in terms of name and physical appearance) - Plowhorn = Meatlug Knockoff, (Basically a female Gronckle with a rhino's horn and beetle wings) - Feathers = AN ACTUAL ORIGINAL DRAGON (though her main abilities seemed to just be a Changewing's camouflage with a Thunderdrum's sonic scream. The mimicry is a cool new addition, though.) - Fault Ripper = Red Death knockoff (even has the same sound effect), but with the tunnel-boring abilities of a Whispering Death. - Bubblehorn = As mentioned in the video, literally copy pasted from Rescue Riders. - Also, the Spiderwing isn't a completely original concept. In the Post-HTTYD 2 comics, we got these spider-like dragons called Silkspanners. The Spiderwing just seems to lean more into the spider side. And now, we have B U Z Z S A W. Full disclosure, I haven't bothered watching Season 2 of The Nine Realms, but from what I saw in this video, it's pretty obvious that he's a knockoff version of Dagur the Deranged, both in terms of appearance and personality.

To be fair dragons like the red death are a special case I could possibly see strike class and alpha dragons living that long because of their solitary nature But I can’t really see any of the other classes doing it seeing as they’re a dime a dozen most of the time Think rabbits and people

I don't think most of these dragons are supposed to be evolved species I think their just supposed to be new species. Which would make more sense since something with a roughly human life expectancy wouldn't evolve much in 1300 years

Actually night furies live for roughly 500 years so probably a great-grandchild based on Thunders size, also the Skrill is a fully matured Skrill whereas Thunder is probably still in his adolescence like Tom, Toothless was in his young adulthood when he met hiccup that's why he was similar size to the Skrill.
Tbf the Skrill might have a crocodile thing going on. An apex predator that doesn't have a reason to evolve that much, because why fix something if it's not broken? And the only reason Night Fury's changed is because it crossbred with a Lightfury.
A story with Viking descendants and descendants of our original dragons 1,300 Years Later COULD DEFINITELY BE a good story,but dreamworks thinks it’s just a kids show and don’t need to focus on the animation quality or character quality too much,they were my favourite animation studio because of HTTYD
Two things that I noticed are 1: The Skrill's size, I'll assume that the other dragons evolved, while the Skrill did not, meaning the other dragons adjusted to the changing climate and got smaller the same way it occurred to animals in real life 2: The Razorwhip changed its fire type I guessing now? They either forgot the razorwhip had a unique fire type, or it evolved in a manner where it no longer fires blue flames. "The fire that the Razorwhip breathes can burn the flesh off a human from a hundred feet away. It is a ray-type fire similar to a Nadder’s. The bright blue color of the fire may either indicate a very high temperature or a different chemical composition. Their bright blue fire explodes on impact, leaving sparks flying. They can fire many times in rapid succession and are incredibly accurate." Edit: I guess the razorwhip also didn't evolve in the same manner as the skrill I described above, but even then it doesn't explain how it fire changed and also on the topic of dragon sizes, on further research the evolved dragons must be rather small considering the following: The Skrill is Medium: 22 feet (6.7 meters) long ,6 feet (1.84 meters) tall The Razorwhip is Medium: 60 feet (18.288 meters) long Also I'm curious why now dragons are disobeying the alphas command and are exploring beyond their 'hidden world,' assuming 'The King of Dragons' is Hereditary or species exclusive, i.e Red Death and Bewilderbeast, and Toothless challenging and becoming the alpha, I am curious if there is still an alpha in the hidden world or the alpha is dead therefore the dragons are no longer bound by the command to stay in the hidden world. Side note: I haven't watched the nine realms and I don't have enough mental strength to, so if I said anything dumb then thats my fault
Instead of using a razorwhip to make a fire tornado from one single fireball, they could have instead brought the Typhoomorang back and had it use its unique fire tornado ability, then again the producers would F up that dragon too probably

Yeah that's not stupid or anything X) Gosh not only his villain's name is ridiculous but his motivation makes no sense. Why would i be invested in a character who always complains and oes stupid things? Nothing about him is intimidating like Draco or smart like the one in Dragons 3. He's just a jerk, that's about it.
I feel like dreamworks have forgotten which generation grew up with HTTYD. It would be amazing if the story could grow with us as an audience who is getting older instead of trying to appeal to younger audiences. Like having a modern remake completely takes the escapism and magic out of the Viking world that we saw before and fell in love with.

And raisorblade I speculate that the night lights have dual tail fins but during the embryonic stage they grow a tail sail inside their eggs and after there born they have dual tail fins with sails on their tails or retain their dual tail fins but with no tail sails
The skrill might be a titan wing which explains why its huge. A titan wing is a dragons last stage where they grow to their maximum size which is extremely rare
Dude, it's called the Nine Realms because Vikings were people of the north, or Norse. The Vikings we see in how to Train Your Dragon clearly believe in the Norse gods, and Realms of Norse mythology. Several references to Thor, Odin, and Helheim are made in just the first movie. In Norse mythology, there are Nine Realms, all held up by the World Tree. In no particular order, there's Midgard (Earth), Asgard (where Odin and most Norse gods live), Muspellheim (realm of the fire giants), Helheim (a realm ruled by the goddess Hel, or Hela), Jotunheim (realm of the giants), Nilfheim, Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Alfheim. Just a small thing I wanted to mention!
That much is obvious, but the reason calling the show "The Nine Realms" makes no sense is because the show doesn't seem to have anything related to Norse Mythology.
The problem is that there's nothing related about any Norse mythology in that show outside the title unless they repersent very poorly. It's a clever title in a show that doesn't have any connection to the said title at all
Listen i get that there's a meaning behind the title but unless the show tells you about it or references it , there's absolutely no reason to give it that name, no one is gonna think that the title has another meaning , they're just going to think "why tf is called like that if they don't do anything the whole season" So yeah, cool idea but horribly done like everything else with this show
I watched season two yesterday and the only episodes I like are the zombie featherhides episode ( Alex's dragon species, because I like the design ) and the final two episodes because they bring back to dragons from the original trilogy, also The one scene from episode four I laughed at is the slow motion scene because of the screams and the face expressions.

The skrill and razorwhip not changing would actually make more sense than the others completely evolving into something else, most of the dragons would likely have pretty decent lifespans probably at least 50-100 years others like bewilderbeast and red death could easily live for much longer. They would also probably bread rather slow as a lot of dragons seem to have small litters so evolution would be very slow. Most of the dragons would be very similar to what they would of looked like in the original they’d likely have differences such as colour, pattern, size, variation in other parts of there bodies, slight changes to abilities. Something like what you see with Thunder who you can tell is like toothless and the light fury but has definitely changed over the generations but still recognisable, so many dragons being so different would make it more likely that these dragons existed in the original and just where never shown
I personally think the last httyd content we should have was Toothless past. Like where did he came from and how he got to be all alone before meeting hiccup
See, what would be cool, would be if they made a movie (differently named and all with better animantion) like same sorta theme where theyre in the modern world hundreds of years later, however the main character along side some (if not all) of the friends discover in the duration of the movie (instead of a show) that they were actually decended from Vikings or more specifically, Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, etc. and accidentally stumbled across Toothless and Light furies offsprings fully grown, or even their childrens fully grown Nightlights. Something along that storyline would be pretty cool. However, I do wish they would stop doing everything they are doing to knock off the HTTYD franchise.
DreamWorks really like making shitty movies and shows recently. Gone are the days of Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, Prince of Egypt, El Dorado, Spirit, and How to Train your Dragon. Now it's crap like this, Boss Baby, and Trolls.

I agree with most of this video, except for one thing: many species of reptiles actually keep growing as long as they live. So what if it wasn’t an evolved skrill, but actually the _exact same_ skrill? And what if it didn’t hibernate but kept growing, and _that’s_ why it’s so much bigger?
Could you imagine what would’ve happened if DreamWorks brought that Captain planet if they did they have to tell a good story with him and the Planeteers!
Viking age was lasted for about 260 years (793-1066AD), things (dragons) couldn't have evolved in any meaningful way since then. Minor changes maybe, but not evolving into a completely different creature, for the sake of comparison our last common ancestor with chimpanzees lived around 6 to 8 million years ago and we still share some 98.8% of DNA.
The show apparently takes place 1300 years after the main HTTYD films/TV shows. But like you said, even then, there isn't a lot of time for any major evolutionary changes to occur. I feel like it would have been better if the dragons in the show were the same as the ones from the TV series, with some minor changes. Sort of like how we had Speed Stingers, then we got Speed Stingers with webbed feet.
Fun fact the spider wings are not unique in the fact that they’re the first arachnid dragons. Dragons: RoB has a species called the Silkspanner that doesn’t have wings so it weaves itself a parachute onto its legs.

Toms jacket has Mjolnir on it which is Thor’s hammer and for who doesn’t know that Thor is a part of Norse Mythology and the nine realms is also a part of Norse Mythology and is the Viking era Mythology which the first series takes place in and is the only connection to the nine realms that I see. I just did a lot of over explaining for something that’s probably not gonna be seen.
I've heard Disney rented DreamWorks out a while ago, so they probably made the 9 realms to live up to DreamWorks, *they didn't to say the least.* (This is Mike's daughter btw lol)
This is exactly why they should've given the job to Netflix, or at least people with some experience working on either the films or the TV series. Or better yet, sometimes I even wonder if they could've gotten the team who made Tales of Arcadia to do it. I know its arbitrary but hear me out. Those people were able to give life into the series the same way the HTTYD films did, and that's honestly saying a lot for me. Even if they botched the franchise up because of one lousy ending of a movie, it's incredibly undeniable how amazing they did for the series. With that in mind, imagine what they could've done if they were to do the same for this new series. Sure, they might miss the very few redemptive elements like the character Alex or the casting of Jeremy Shada (personally, I think he does great voice work for his character), but I always seemed to picture what could've transpired when other people were left in charge of this thing. Maybe they could've done better, who knows? I'm just saying my opinion into this matter.

The dragons don’t live for thousands of years because in the race to the edge there was a place called Vaneheim which is where the eruptadon went to live it’s last few days and throk said he’s spent abt 100 years protecting there village which is a lot more than a average Viking lives

I had this idea of having a new series with hiccup and Astrid’s kids but the ending of the movie wouldn’t have fit in. Now in https the nine realms In my opinion and my friends opinion we think it’s more about the people then the dragons, unlike httyd. I know I get it’s in modern times but a few reasons why one thousand three hundred years in the future. Like why so specific? Now all the dragons have either evolved or are not placed in, like the razor whip. In httyd race to edge wind shear never had a tornado attack like that she had more of a blue fire kind of plasma blast but fried instead like hookfang. I could hav e hope for this serise if it could bring in funny characters like the twins or stupid and funny characters like snotlout

7:39 Take that point back! We have the Silkspanner in the Dragonvine graphic novel. It has a spider-like appearance and shoots webs, but it has a much more realistic and cooler design. Plus, instead of having normal wings, like the Spiderwing, the Silkspanner has the UNIQUE ability in the HTTYD universe of gliding with webs between its feet.

Some animals don't evolve much if they're already efficient in their ecosystem. Sharks, for instance, have remained basically the same since long before humans existed. Maybe the Skrill was just an apex predator. Doesn't make any of the other writing less garbage though
I can't put into words how much 'Buzzsaw' pisses me off. He is obviously a Dagur clone He got that name not because he wanted to be called that but because he used to throw daggers a Hiccup when they were kids. The massive difference between Dagur and Buzz is that he was an actual threat. He forcefully took over his tribe after his father disappeared, abandoned his sister in the beginning, made multiple attempts to kill Hiccup and the gang and all most succeeded a few times, attacked Berk multiple times, and he would ever attack his own men if they failed him. And he even though he was deranged ((Yes I'm aware that's his last name)) he was very intelligent and strategic, he even set traps and out smarted Hiccup a few times. Also his hatred for the dragons made sense as Hiccup and the gang kept ruining his plans. And the best part is in RTE he had a very well written reception arch that too several episodes. He was a very good character and One of my favorites in the show. Now we get the cheep ass imitator
Actually, titles such as "Stoick the Vast" or "Dagur the Deranged" are titles given to them by other Vikings as a sort of legacy. It's a cultural thing that dates since Old Norse civilization.

The show has literally turned into a group of kids with “dragons” fighting the evil “planet hater”. Like, the main characters are gonna be fighting climate change in a few seasons, if the show even survives that long…

Technically the spider dragon isn’t original, if I remember correctly in the comics there’s a similar spider like dragon called the Silkspanner or something along those lines so you totally could just take that originally point away
It was also based on some comics and Dragons: Rise of Berk, which has something called a Silkspanner, basically a spider dragon. These Spiderwing dragons are just more spider-y.
This show was one of the biggest freaking disappointments of the century. EVERY show that split off to tell us more about the plot of HTTYD was EPIC!! Great new characters, new dragons (that don't look like a 2 year old drew them), awesome villains, new islands, etc. then this show decided to freaking show up. I don't get it. What is DreamWorks doing? Their good at making cool shows! What is this crap? RaisorBlade, you are voicing my annoyance and you do it well. Thank you. I wish this show didn't exist.
Raisor even mentions in the first video that it's basically Camp Cretaceous, but Dragons. Of course, that is insulting _to_ Camp Cretaceous, as it was a show that had at least a *good* amount of thought put into it(personally, I think it's great, and I love the parallels in the first episodes to JW, as well as the callbacks they made to the first JP). This crap...it's just insulting to the source material! It's cutting it open, and then pouring pounds of salt into the wound!! Universal actually put thought into CC, and DreamWorks is capable of that too, given the previous Dragons content. Not to mention, they were involved IN CC, at least animation-wise. Even if just for the animation, what's the deal with the animation here?!! DreamWorks did great with the previous Dragons show, and they were awesome with JW:CC!! SO WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS STIFF, PLAYDOH LOOKING BULLCRAP?!!!!! "My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined." Edit: I have since realized that Universal owns DreamWorks, so they're basically one in the same...other than that, point still stands.
DreamWorks could have made a series from the dragons’ pov. Like a series taking place in the hidden realm where Toothless’ kids go on little adventures and get into all kinds a mischief. That would be adorable.

Amazing video once again and thanks for the shoutout 😁 Funny thing about the Skrill though, Toothless and that dragon (assuming it's the same one) squashed their beef in Race to the Edge, there was even a whole episode called "A Time To Skrill" dedicated to it. An episode that JOHN TELLEGEN CO-WROTE!! Aside from that I was really hoping the "Spider Wings" were going to end up being the Silkspanners from the HTTYD comic "Dragonvine," but it turns out they're just a Walmart brand of those. Still working on my own Season 2 review and this was super entertaining!
Also as for the spiderwings... Yeah, I had NO idea there was a comic at all! Call me a filthy casual if you want but I genuinely had zero clue they were stolen from the comic books. Subtract that 1 point! XD

Yeah, even with just tiny changes since history has shown we don’t evolve much over the span of 1300 years, it normally takes MUCH MUCH MUUUCH longer

- D'Angelo = Fishlegs/Snotlout knockoff (Fishlegs in the sense that he's an animal lover; Snotlout in terms of his physical build and in the sense that he's often the butt of the joke)
- Alexandra = AN ACTUAL ORIGINAL CHARACTER (though she does seem to at least partially based off Fishlegs, in the sense that she's the quiet, nerdy, intelligent character)
- Olivia (Tom's mom) = Valka knockoff (her face is basically the same as Valka's with a few changes, and she's the main character's caring, brave, and "fun" mother)
- Thunder = Toothless knockoff (why is his face shaped that way?)
- Wu and Wei = Barf and Belch knockoff, but Chinese (in terms of name and physical appearance)
- Plowhorn = Meatlug Knockoff, (Basically a female Gronckle with a rhino's horn and beetle wings)
- Feathers = AN ACTUAL ORIGINAL DRAGON (though her main abilities seemed to just be a Changewing's camouflage with a Thunderdrum's sonic scream. The mimicry is a cool new addition, though.)
- Fault Ripper = Red Death knockoff (even has the same sound effect), but with the tunnel-boring abilities of a Whispering Death.
- Bubblehorn = As mentioned in the video, literally copy pasted from Rescue Riders.
- Also, the Spiderwing isn't a completely original concept. In the Post-HTTYD 2 comics, we got these spider-like dragons called Silkspanners. The Spiderwing just seems to lean more into the spider side.
And now, we have B U Z Z S A W. Full disclosure, I haven't bothered watching Season 2 of The Nine Realms, but from what I saw in this video, it's pretty obvious that he's a knockoff version of Dagur the Deranged, both in terms of appearance and personality.

Actually night furies live for roughly 500 years so probably a great-grandchild based on Thunders size, also the Skrill is a fully matured Skrill whereas Thunder is probably still in his adolescence like Tom, Toothless was in his young adulthood when he met hiccup that's why he was similar size to the Skrill.
This was never confirmed or outright stated once.

A story with Viking descendants and descendants of our original dragons 1,300 Years Later COULD DEFINITELY BE a good story,but dreamworks thinks it’s just a kids show and don’t need to focus on the animation quality or character quality too much,they were my favourite animation studio because of HTTYD
Two things that I noticed are
1: The Skrill's size, I'll assume that the other dragons evolved, while the Skrill did not, meaning the other dragons adjusted to the changing climate and got smaller the same way it occurred to animals in real life
2: The Razorwhip changed its fire type I guessing now? They either forgot the razorwhip had a unique fire type, or it evolved in a manner where it no longer fires blue flames.
"The fire that the Razorwhip breathes can burn the flesh off a human from a hundred feet away. It is a ray-type fire similar to a Nadder’s. The bright blue color of the fire may either indicate a very high temperature or a different chemical composition. Their bright blue fire explodes on impact, leaving sparks flying. They can fire many times in rapid succession and are incredibly accurate."
Edit: I guess the razorwhip also didn't evolve in the same manner as the skrill I described above, but even then it doesn't explain how it fire changed and also on the topic of dragon sizes, on further research the evolved dragons must be rather small considering the following:
The Skrill is Medium: 22 feet (6.7 meters) long ,6 feet (1.84 meters) tall
The Razorwhip is Medium: 60 feet (18.288 meters) long
Also I'm curious why now dragons are disobeying the alphas command and are exploring beyond their 'hidden world,' assuming 'The King of Dragons' is Hereditary or species exclusive, i.e Red Death and Bewilderbeast, and Toothless challenging and becoming the alpha, I am curious if there is still an alpha in the hidden world or the alpha is dead therefore the dragons are no longer bound by the command to stay in the hidden world.
Side note: I haven't watched the nine realms and I don't have enough mental strength to, so if I said anything dumb then thats my fault
Instead of using a razorwhip to make a fire tornado from one single fireball, they could have instead brought the Typhoomorang back and had it use its unique fire tornado ability, then again the producers would F up that dragon too probably

I grew up on Race to the Edge, and I’ve not heard of this show until now and I’m thankful for that
I feel like dreamworks have forgotten which generation grew up with HTTYD. It would be amazing if the story could grow with us as an audience who is getting older instead of trying to appeal to younger audiences. Like having a modern remake completely takes the escapism and magic out of the Viking world that we saw before and fell in love with.

Dude, it's called the Nine Realms because Vikings were people of the north, or Norse. The Vikings we see in how to Train Your Dragon clearly believe in the Norse gods, and Realms of Norse mythology. Several references to Thor, Odin, and Helheim are made in just the first movie. In Norse mythology, there are Nine Realms, all held up by the World Tree. In no particular order, there's Midgard (Earth), Asgard (where Odin and most Norse gods live), Muspellheim (realm of the fire giants), Helheim (a realm ruled by the goddess Hel, or Hela), Jotunheim (realm of the giants), Nilfheim, Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Alfheim. Just a small thing I wanted to mention!
The thing he was focusing on with that was that the show itself, on its own, has no references to the nine realms

That much is obvious, but the reason calling the show "The Nine Realms" makes no sense is because the show doesn't seem to have anything related to Norse Mythology.
The problem is that there's nothing related about any Norse mythology in that show outside the title unless they repersent very poorly. It's a clever title in a show that doesn't have any connection to the said title at all
Listen i get that there's a meaning behind the title but unless the show tells you about it or references it , there's absolutely no reason to give it that name, no one is gonna think that the title has another meaning , they're just going to think "why tf is called like that if they don't do anything the whole season"

I watched season two yesterday and the only episodes I like are the zombie featherhides episode ( Alex's dragon species, because I like the design ) and the final two episodes because they bring back to dragons from the original trilogy, also The one scene from episode four I laughed at is the slow motion scene because of the screams and the face expressions.

The skrill and razorwhip not changing would actually make more sense than the others completely evolving into something else, most of the dragons would likely have pretty decent lifespans probably at least 50-100 years others like bewilderbeast and red death could easily live for much longer. They would also probably bread rather slow as a lot of dragons seem to have small litters so evolution would be very slow. Most of the dragons would be very similar to what they would of looked like in the original they’d likely have differences such as colour, pattern, size, variation in other parts of there bodies, slight changes to abilities. Something like what you see with Thunder who you can tell is like toothless and the light fury but has definitely changed over the generations but still recognisable, so many dragons being so different would make it more likely that these dragons existed in the original and just where never shown

See, what would be cool, would be if they made a movie (differently named and all with better animantion) like same sorta theme where theyre in the modern world hundreds of years later, however the main character along side some (if not all) of the friends discover in the duration of the movie (instead of a show) that they were actually decended from Vikings or more specifically, Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, etc. and accidentally stumbled across Toothless and Light furies offsprings fully grown, or even their childrens fully grown Nightlights. Something along that storyline would be pretty cool. However, I do wish they would stop doing everything they are doing to knock off the HTTYD franchise.

Viking age was lasted for about 260 years (793-1066AD), things (dragons) couldn't have evolved in any meaningful way since then. Minor changes maybe, but not evolving into a completely different creature, for the sake of comparison our last common ancestor with chimpanzees lived around 6 to 8 million years ago and we still share some 98.8% of DNA.
The show apparently takes place 1300 years after the main HTTYD films/TV shows. But like you said, even then, there isn't a lot of time for any major evolutionary changes to occur. I feel like it would have been better if the dragons in the show were the same as the ones from the TV series, with some minor changes. Sort of like how we had Speed Stingers, then we got Speed Stingers with webbed feet.
Fun fact the spider wings are not unique in the fact that they’re the first arachnid dragons. Dragons: RoB has a species called the Silkspanner that doesn’t have wings so it weaves itself a parachute onto its legs.

Toms jacket has Mjolnir on it which is Thor’s hammer and for who doesn’t know that Thor is a part of Norse Mythology and the nine realms is also a part of Norse Mythology and is the Viking era Mythology which the first series takes place in and is the only connection to the nine realms that I see. I just did a lot of over explaining for something that’s probably not gonna be seen.

This is exactly why they should've given the job to Netflix, or at least people with some experience working on either the films or the TV series. Or better yet, sometimes I even wonder if they could've gotten the team who made Tales of Arcadia to do it. I know its arbitrary but hear me out. Those people were able to give life into the series the same way the HTTYD films did, and that's honestly saying a lot for me. Even if they botched the franchise up because of one lousy ending of a movie, it's incredibly undeniable how amazing they did for the series. With that in mind, imagine what they could've done if they were to do the same for this new series. Sure, they might miss the very few redemptive elements like the character Alex or the casting of Jeremy Shada (personally, I think he does great voice work for his character), but I always seemed to picture what could've transpired when other people were left in charge of this thing. Maybe they could've done better, who knows? I'm just saying my opinion into this matter.

The dragons don’t live for thousands of years because in the race to the edge there was a place called Vaneheim which is where the eruptadon went to live it’s last few days and throk said he’s spent abt 100 years protecting there village which is a lot more than a average Viking lives
the fact the skrill is the same isn’t inaccurate it’s that all the others aren’t evolution takes way longer than 1300 years and also given the original shows technology witch is already very advanced for the time it should be closer to 1000 years

I had this idea of having a new series with hiccup and Astrid’s kids but the ending of the movie wouldn’t have fit in. Now in https the nine realms In my opinion and my friends opinion we think it’s more about the people then the dragons, unlike httyd. I know I get it’s in modern times but a few reasons why one thousand three hundred years in the future. Like why so specific? Now all the dragons have either evolved or are not placed in, like the razor whip. In httyd race to edge wind shear never had a tornado attack like that she had more of a blue fire kind of plasma blast but fried instead like hookfang. I could hav e hope for this serise if it could bring in funny characters like the twins or stupid and funny characters like snotlout

7:39 Take that point back! We have the Silkspanner in the Dragonvine graphic novel. It has a spider-like appearance and shoots webs, but it has a much more realistic and cooler design. Plus, instead of having normal wings, like the Spiderwing, the Silkspanner has the UNIQUE ability in the HTTYD universe of gliding with webs between its feet.

Some animals don't evolve much if they're already efficient in their ecosystem. Sharks, for instance, have remained basically the same since long before humans existed. Maybe the Skrill was just an apex predator. Doesn't make any of the other writing less garbage though

I can't put into words how much 'Buzzsaw' pisses me off.

He got that name not because he wanted to be called that but because he used to throw daggers a Hiccup when they were kids. The massive difference between Dagur and Buzz is that he was an actual threat. He forcefully took over his tribe after his father disappeared, abandoned his sister in the beginning, made multiple attempts to kill Hiccup and the gang and all most succeeded a few times, attacked Berk multiple times, and he would ever attack his own men if they failed him. And he even though he was deranged ((Yes I'm aware that's his last name)) he was very intelligent and strategic, he even set traps and out smarted Hiccup a few times. Also his hatred for the dragons made sense as Hiccup and the gang kept ruining his plans.
And the best part is in RTE he had a very well written reception arch that too several episodes. He was a very good character and One of my favorites in the show.

Actually, titles such as "Stoick the Vast" or "Dagur the Deranged" are titles given to them by other Vikings as a sort of legacy. It's a cultural thing that dates since Old Norse civilization.

This show was one of the biggest freaking disappointments of the century. EVERY show that split off to tell us more about the plot of HTTYD was EPIC!! Great new characters, new dragons (that don't look like a 2 year old drew them), awesome villains, new islands, etc. then this show decided to freaking show up. I don't get it. What is DreamWorks doing? Their good at making cool shows! What is this crap?

Raisor even mentions in the first video that it's basically Camp Cretaceous, but Dragons. Of course, that is insulting _to_ Camp Cretaceous, as it was a show that had at least a *good* amount of thought put into it(personally, I think it's great, and I love the parallels in the first episodes to JW, as well as the callbacks they made to the first JP). This crap...it's just insulting to the source material! It's cutting it open, and then pouring pounds of salt into the wound!! Universal actually put thought into CC, and DreamWorks is capable of that too, given the previous Dragons content. Not to mention, they were involved IN CC, at least animation-wise. Even if just for the animation, what's the deal with the animation here?!! DreamWorks did great with the previous Dragons show, and they were awesome with JW:CC!! SO WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS STIFF, PLAYDOH LOOKING BULLCRAP?!!!!! "My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined."

Funny thing about the Skrill though, Toothless and that dragon (assuming it's the same one) squashed their beef in Race to the Edge, there was even a whole episode called "A Time To Skrill" dedicated to it. An episode that JOHN TELLEGEN CO-WROTE!! Aside from that I was really hoping the "Spider Wings" were going to end up being the Silkspanners from the HTTYD comic "Dragonvine," but it turns out they're just a Walmart brand of those.
Still working on my own Season 2 review and this was super entertaining!

@@raisorblade Definitely check them out if you have the chance! "The Serpent's Heir" and "Dragonvine" bridge the gap between movie 2 and 3. AND they're written by the writer/director of the films.
But yeah fuck TNR, after going through season 2 with a fine tooth comb it's debatably worse than season 1 😂
I hate how a series that has always been about friendship and teamwork now has an ENVIRORMENTAL MESSAGE! The people who made this CLEARLY need to rewatch the shows and ESPECIALLY the 1st and 3rd movie.

@@gasterthemaster6490 I mean that the series is not so bad in itself, it's not that I don't like it either, but when the trailer for the first season came out, many hated it, but when they made the second trailer for that same season, those who hated it they started to appreciate the series, they can't hate something that was still in development. now with the second season, it is not known if it can be better, or that is what I hope
