I recently watched a video about a historic cholera outbreak in the UK. Within the affected area, the workers in a brewery remained healthy because they were drinking their daily allotment of beer rather than the tainted well water.

This is a very important topic!!! And very HAM related!!!
Very interesting when testing I would suggest to first do a test on water you would normally collect for use in the wiled from say a running stream or river and when doing worst case water test try and reduce the amount of mud in the water.
