A fighter being the key word good summation of the reality of the situation, I hate when Boxers are referred to as 'fighters' in the context of rivalling Mixed Martial Artists, Conor said it best, forget any rule sets and bullshit sporting stipulations and strip it back to primal warfare, a fight to the death between two mammals who wins? Floyd would get brutally murdered literally he would be dead in minutes and therefore Conor is the greater fighter, all Floyd will prove in likelihood is that under the specific ruleset he has been practising since he can walk in which he is arguably the GOAT from a technical perspective he is superior to Conor, a wholly unimpressive feat when you think about it, what is in my opinion more impressive is that Conor is able to convince the world that this is a fight to the extent where everybody is itching to see it because it for some reason does not seem like a foregone conclusion despite the overwhelming evidence to the point where boxing purist want to watch it even though they claim there is no point in it happening which seems contradictory in itself, that is the Mcgregor effect.
I think that it is equally impressive that this farce was talked into exsitance. I would like to see one quote where Mayweather said that he could beat Conor in a MMA match. Conor thinking that he has a chance aginst someone who has trained and competed in boxing for most of their lives when he has only part time trained in the sport is laughable, much less against the best boxer of this generation. This is a match in which Mayweather will prove he is a superior Boxer, which is all that he has said through this. And yes it does seem like a forgone conclusion.

McGregor has been training for this mayweather fight for at least 2 years, it was his whole game plan to get this fight, and he got it! To learn boxing or what ever your asking this dude in 8,9 weeks before the fight is crazy. He's been boxing all his life, plus many other styles as well.
This is probably 1 of his best shadow boxing videos. I love it. I'm gonna watch this all the time jus to study him. He looks awesome ; technique and combination game crazy.

Like Van Heerden said, he won't have enough time to really internalize everything about boxing and use it in the fight. Once he starts getting hit by Floyd, he's gonna revert to his old fighting style. I think that's only natural if you have been training for such a short period of time.

There's nothing wrong with training a guy to challenge the champion no matter what his background. If there's a guy out there who can beat mayweather he deserves a chance to prove it.

Paulie is there to emulate a slick boxer, which is what he truly is. This gives McGregor some sort of idea to expect what will be in front of him , the night of the fight. Sure paulie is no Floyd, but' it's helluve a lot better than nothing at all. Will it help Connor, I doubt it, but it's still a wise choice!

Andre and Virgil are super secretive about their prep work. They only call in trusted partners that will help them progress and get properly ready for opponents. Otherwise, no amount of temporary payoff money will get them to show their hand or have possible footage of their mistakes, and weaknesses, what they're working on get out, than what's already recorded in their professional fights. Especially if it's just to help out a guy from MMA who has a professional record of 0-0 in boxing. Save for maybe the Diaz brothers, Ward's never worked with anyone outside the boxing realm (and they're gym buddies).
So if you're wondering why he's sort of skirting around the issue an saying he wouldn't do what Paulie's doing, it's more about this issue as opposed to pure respect for Floyd or other boxers. Like he said, Paulie's not fighting anymore so his headspace is completely different from a fighter still in the game.
Virgil's known to even black out his windows at his gym to prevent any onlookers from seeing what they do. The less exposure their work is to the world, the less their opponents have sources to work with to figure out ways to beat him.
It's a shame in one sense, in the long run boxing in america is already at a sad deteriorated state from what it once was (talking olympics here) so not sharing boxing knowledge hurts our sport in America even more. But on a personal level it helps to keep Ward more advantages in his career to conceal as much as he can, and Virgil to keep his gym going.
I totally get what he's saying , but there's a flip side to that coin, it's not like they are trying to teach a wrestler how to stand on a balance beam , Conor has used his hands all his life , he's a natural athlete , not saying that he's going to be a better boxer than Floyd , no way, Conor would be the first to admit that , what's selling this fight is Conor's natural ability , his attitude , self belief, and his knock out power , timing , precision, and his cat like reflexes . Even Pauli admits , Conor has his own unique style , that's why this fights interesting

One possible lowblow at the end and somehow that's the cause of Kov getting stopped. He was reacting to those body shots all night and if you pay attention to the last round, Kov got hurt long before the last exchange and was retreating from Ward until he was stopped.

Curious if Paulie now changes his tune. He has been critical of McGregor's boxing skills & his chances in this fight. I think it was McG's way of buying Paulie. McG & his people know they aren't going to win even though they HAVE TO say the exact opposite. Their goal is just to sell the fight and cash in on as much $$$ as possible. May vs McG has been getting slammed as a mismatch by a lot of people. Paulie is somewhat known with all the announcing he does here in the states & in the UK. Having him legitimize the fight & vouch for McG as a real threat might help to sell a few more PPVs. It's all about smoke & mirrors kids!!!
