    J’avoue tu as géré grave, c'est vraiment rustique, y’a du tchetchene là dedans ! Autant l’expédition a du etre humainement galère, autant la gestion de l’image et du son sont perfect. Là où 99% des gens préfèrent être sous des draps, dans un lit confortable, toi tu vas faire un feu de camp sous la neige... ce garçon mérite plus de vues, le boulot derrière est aussi énorme que le niveau de skills.

      @TheShurikenZone Thanks, brother ! That was as beautiful as it was hard (mainly because of the mud and all-around dampness). That fire was crazy to get going, but I knew a good meal was on the other side 🤣

      @ARAW-__-  3 дні тому +2

      @TheShurikenZone Oh... I'm quite new to axes, so that may be a very valid concern 🤣
      I applied the same principles as machete handling, expecting the axe to bounce off at an angle.

      @TheShurikenZone 3 дні тому +2

      @ARAW-__- Hah! Aye, I noticed that you worked yourself away from the more dangerous axe work (between your legs), quite quickly, and indeed axe head deflection was the only thing I was concerned about. As always, this video was an absolute treat. 😁👍👍 Mack got excited, when I told her you'd put up a long video. Production quality was spectacular. And the only thing you could have really used... was a donohi. 😜

    Man, great video! You should have been in charge of my Girl Scout Winter Survival course.
    I spent the night outside (with another Girl Scout), in 4-6 inches of snow. We had to make a shelter, build a fire, dispatch a rabbit, cook/eat it, and sleep overnight. I had frostnip on my toes by the end of it.
    Years later, because of what I learned from Ryan, come to find out- the people overseeing the whole exercise, shouldn't have been. :/

    • @ARAW-__-
      @ARAW-__-  3 дні тому +2

      Hi Mackenzie 😁
      Sounds like a real adventure ! How old were you at the time ? Were you close to other camps ? Frostnip is no good, that means your core temperature was lower than it should have : lower iq (momentarily 😅) and dexterity (needed for firecraft and first aid).
      I wanted to be a scout when I was a kid !
      Alone in the woods with freezing temps is, by default, dangerous. If the fire died down suddenly (pack of snow perched on a branch falling due to the rising heat) one could be in serious trouble !
      Matter of life and desth, truly...
      On this trip, especially, I made sure no branch could harm me. Can't afford to get hurt.
      I'm proud you liked the video. It means a lot 🫡 Have a nice day

      @ARAW-__- there were about 5 groups of 2 each... and we were all about... 11-12, I think? And, on top of everything else, it started snowing MORE over night. The frostnip was relegated to my toes, thankfully. Feet are still sensitive to cold, too. :/

    • @ARAW-__-

      @Dalenra3013 I got a friend that lost sensitivity in his fingers due to frostbite, its no joke.

    • @ARAW-__-
      @ARAW-__-  22 години тому +2

      Hi 👋
      First off, go in an area where no one would wander and find you. People are the biggest threat.
      Bring a sleeping bag at least 10°C warmer than the lowest expected temp you'd expect. A thick sleeping pad is non-negotiable.
      Spare socks, a warm hat, and a scarf will go a long way.
      When you go into the forest, regularly check whether or not you're getting signal. Keep your phone close to your body, for warmth : battery won't like the cold. A powerbank in the sleeping bag, and recharge when sleeping.
      Have a family member or friend know where you'll park, where you plan to camp, and give them updates as you go. They'll be your tether to safety, so ask a reliable person 😅
      You got it !

      @kringsja922 Hello Kringsja 🫡
      4mmd thick foam pad (200×50cm) + 2 7mm thick foam pads (45×30) for added insulation.
      One is under my spine, the other under my butt and thighs 🫡

    • @kringsja922

      That sound very cold, is it not?

    • @ARAW-__-
      @ARAW-__-  2 дні тому +2

      @kringsja922 Hmmm... I guess it is 😅
      I don't like inflatable pads, as they are not that lasting (my foam pads has hundreds of nights), and can get punctured... but to tell all the truth, I never used an inflatable mat. Maybe if I did, I'd keep using it 🫡

    • @kringsja922
      @kringsja922 2 дні тому +1

      @@ARAW-__- yeah i only use foam as well but a little thicker like 8-10mm or something, and in the winter it gets a little chilly.

    • @ARAW-__-
      @ARAW-__-  2 дні тому +2

      @kringsja922 yes it does... but my 7mm on top of the 4mm does a great job ! Also, we could use some spruce to boost the insulation, I just don't like using living trees, but that works great ! 🫡

    Hi, great Video. But you are wearing the same clothes as in the other videos. I presume it was warmer then. The shoes too. Aren't you cold man? You should dress up better. Interesting to see where you are too. Near Isle de France. I have been to Paris 100s of times. Good luck with your adventures but dress better please.

    • @ARAW-__-
      @ARAW-__-  3 дні тому +7

      Hey Mike !
      You're right, I dress very lightly. You got a keen eye, these are my only shoes, they are minimalist beach shoes that breathe a lot. It was a bit chilly, but when hiking, I get hot quick. At camp, too, as I make fire.
      In case I can't make fire, my quilt is warm ! My philosophy is tI'be a bit chilly in the day, and plenty warm at night (always expecting lower temps and bad weather)
      I'm between 93 and 94, so about an hour and half to Fontainebleau 🫡

    • @Bootlegmike
      @Bootlegmike 3 дні тому +4

      @ARAW-__- I don't want to be presumptuous but if you can't afford a pair of boots I'll be happy to send you some.

    • @ARAW-__-
      @ARAW-__-  3 дні тому +5

      @Bootlegmike Oh, thank you so much, man ! I'm good, but there was a time not that long ago I wore shoes with a hole the size of an egg... hard times, but it's in the past now 🫡
      As for why those, then... I like lightweight minimalist shoes 😅 But I'm searching for minimalist, wide toe-box shoes for muddy terrain now 😁
      Again, I appreciate the help Mike, the world needs more people like you 🫡

    • @pennsyltuckyreb9800
      @pennsyltuckyreb9800 3 дні тому +2

      Less is more sometimes (if you have the knowledge and experience to keep it from being dangerous, of course). There's nothing worse than being a hot sweaty mess in the winter. Better to be colder, not sweaty, and acclimate. As long as you can keep your core warm, the extremities should fair pretty well until you can stop and make a fire.

    • @ARAW-__-
      @ARAW-__-  3 дні тому +4

      @pennsyltuckyreb9800 Hey Pennsyl ! 😁
      That's how I view the clothing system as well... and sgain, a WARM quilt is the safety net if I can't make a fire. Spend months without fire nor sleeping bag in subtropical environment. I was cold, shivering every night, 10*c at the lowest. Now, I accept the cold during the day, but I want warmth and sleep at night !
