- The new Thomas & Friends All Engines Go stock in stores is still set at the wrong price and I keep finding Trackmaster toys with factory errors. I find a new variation of the Hot Wheels Loco Motorin and that's just triggers me to remember the Thomas The Tank version of this toy from 2019. But it's a look at the new All Engines Go gordon Number 4 engine that has me looking very carefully at the toy history of this very popular Thomas & Friends character. Looking back to the ERTL, Take Along, Take N Play in it's varied formats, Thomas Adventures, Trackmaster Push Along and All Engines Go Push Along. Hopefully I show how we have in one generation of change gone from the 'devil' Gordon to one that looks really nice. But why did the toy company let the toy train designs decay over a 6 year period. But it wasn't just the die cast metal engine Thomas toys that were being de-evolved, Thomas Wooden Railway downsized and de-painted and called Thomas Wood. From 2014 to 2020 the Thomas toys were in a really strange death spiral of poor designs and detail drifting from what the incredible earlier toys presented. Hopefully a lesson here in what not to do with classic and much loved toys.

The NEW TWR isn't in any stores where I live. Mattel are struggling to supply the basic All Engines Go Stock. It's not looking good for Christmas 2022. Another train wreck incoming.
Unfortunately the new twr line hasn’t released anywhere outside the US and Japan.

Wow, this franchise has changed a lot in the past 20 years.
A lot of unnecessary and bad toy design changes happened between 2015 to 2020, possibly the all time worst era for these very popular toys.

Man can you belive all mattel cares about is just make the toys and no child will be able to tell the difference between a misprinted toy and a normal toy.
14:38 Thank you for showing the talking Gordon. I'm from the U.S. and the voices for the talking engines are different to Australia. It's nice hearing the variety. Most UA-camrs seem to gloss over showcasing the different talking variants.
Is there a way to ask mattel to stop trackmaster 2 and brings back the original trackmaster ?
It's so bizarre seeing all those re-hashed versions of the Hot Wheels Thomas. I thought Mattel would've moved on from such a weird design.
Speaking of weird designs, another one is that older Trackmaster push-along Gordon. As for my overall thoughts on that thing, well... In the words of Leo himself - sometimes it's best to say absolutely nothing. As for the AEG-themed Gordon, I think it doesn't look too bad for the most part (this is despite my hatred of the reboot overall).
It was nice seeing that Ertl Gordon again from your 2014 Ertl Haul from the Queens Birthday Long Weekend Train Show. Honestly the Thomas AEG show is awful but the quality of the merchandise really holds up! Loving the wheel arrangements.
I just hope the Class 40 from that train show is still in good condition after Leo gave it his son in the Take N Play Class 40 and Big City Engine review from November 2014!

man hard to believe how hard these toys have fallen. i miss the days of classic take along wooden railway and tomy motorized engines
mannn being born in very early 2008 but playing with take-along/take-n-play toys was a blessing, also had the ultimate tomy set with me only ever owning one track master classic set, I quickly grasped the newer toys where not as top quality, also watched you more then most UA-cam channels because I felt a bigger sense of realism then most reviews of toys.

Gordon is a character that is very difficult to get right. He's a very large engine and most companies have difficulty getting the scale right. Gordon's defining trait is that he's the only engine who is strong enough and fast enough to pull the express. By making Gordon the same length as Thomas, you lose that very key part of his character. I think that ERTL got it best in this lineup of toys in terms of showing gordons scale. If only we could go back to that era of toy making.
I like how in toy or model form, Gordon can either look amazing or look terrible. It depends on how it looks by the face, shape, and details.

It’s so fascinating to think that the same company produced the absolute disaster of a toy, being TM Push Along, then also the very appealing and well designed AEG toys. Although AEG is not my cup of tea, I really like the look of the toys. Looks like someone at Mattel finally went to business school, realised ugly toys do not sell and finally woke up. If only this happened a few years ago. Now hopefully Mr. Mattel can just release the classic characters we all want in their toy ranges, but that’s probably asking for too much lol. 😊

Very few Thomas Hot Wheels ever hit the pegs sadly. Either picked off by Hot Wheels collectors or shop staff who understood the online price was 10 times the peg price. Those adult Hot Wheels collectors are very curious people to talk to, the collecting bunny hole related to Hot Wheels is massive. Some of the collectors I was talking to showed me photos of the 'walls' of Hot Wheels they had in their homes. Even the 5 packs are collected and hung on walls. In fact the advice from a Hot Wheels collector let me find a Hot Wheels Thomas. It was a bit of thinking outside the square to find places where the hardcore collectors don't go. I know from the Hot Wheels collectors on this site they are ruthless in finding their special 'Treasure Hunt' cars and often have deals set up with staff so they get first pick through boxes before they are pegged. It says to me that the whole idea of having anything special in a toy line just sets up a weird and unfair retail experience. A classic example was the hunt of the LEGO Mr Gold. The way I saw stock ripped into during that time was a total eye opener. These special limited edition toys seem to bring out the worst in people every time.

@8:20 --8:40. I totally agree. They would be cooler with that set up. But even if they do some how do that set up. My only concern is. what is it going to pull to make it a train? Like yes i understand its a all ready a train. But in my opinion it needs some kind of coaches or Freight cars or a tender because this is a steam engine. If they make a diesel loco train to run out along side this that would be cool as well. But it honestly just needs something to pull. Because they gave Passenger cars, tenders, flat beds and etc to a actually hot wheels trains line. So why not these????
Ps. Yes i know it can pull the Thomas and freinds characters and things around. But that doesn't fit on hot wheels track very well. Hints why im saying it needs its own rolling stock and etc.
Ps ps. Yes it can hook up to the older hot wheels trains. But they look so weird next to this loco motoring. It just really needs its own line of stuff. But thats just me and im sorry for hurting anyones feelings.

In the American and Canadian versions of the Talking Gordon toy, he has his US voice (Kerry Shale), while in the UK, Australian, Ireland, and New Zealand versions, he has his UK voice (Keith Wickham).
Hot Wheels and Gordon in one video? Yes, please. Being a Gordon enjoyer, that AEG model is one for my collection! I have to find one.
As to the Loco Motorins, we in the Hot Wheels community call those types of cars left in the stores “pegwarmers”, and they usually comprise unlicensed and unappealing cars. Let me tell you something, though- customising Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars is really fun. You should do a video about the chassis swap you planned!
The greatest peg warmer I saw during the search for the Thomas Loco M was the little Wheel Chair styled Hot wheels. Even when the price was halved no one wanted that Hot Wheels.
@leokimvideo Speaking of, they are actually releasing a slightly larger RC version of that little green chair. It could have more play appeal, but it’s pretty pricey.
Us action figure collectors are all too familiar with pegwarmers. Every line has them, the worst being Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series General Lando. Shame since he's actually a dope piece, but Lando always warms no matter his look or scale (The Vintage Collection or Black Series)
@James Bowen That’s unfortunate. The same goes for Matchbox and Hot Wheels too. The car (or in your case, action figure) dosen’t have to be bad- it may come down to presentation. For instance, Matchbox Retro Series Crown Vic cabs often pegwarm at Target. The Crown Vic is an awesome car, but the paintwork is a nauseous pale yellow. Perhaps they need to shake up Lando’s aesthetic somewhat.

While I am completely neutral over All Engines Go, I won't deny that the Push Along models are really good. They look very accurate to the show, unlike the previous Push Along models where they had little to no effort put into them.

Something I noticed is that, while the actual show is arguably getting worse, the merchandise is getting better in terms of quality and effort. Just look at the 2022 wooden railway stuff, it's better than classic wooden railway

Hey Leo I’m just gonna say that hot wheels cars usually are dated the year before they release.
I don't understand why we had a massive decrease of characters in merch in recent years and got all sorts of characters but we didn't even get Duck, Donald and Douglas in CGI form.

There's also the Trackmaster 2 Redesigned Celebration Gordon which comes in the Metallic Engines 4 pack which is one I got for Christmas last year. I think that's the only set you can find him in.
I was literally heartbroken from technoblade's death, yet Leo smashing the box with the chicken made my day just a bit better.
Actually looking at the merch from the past 20 years, it’s insane to think how from 2002-2013 it was mostly consistent but from 2014 onwards it’s changed every other year

A UA-camr GWR studios actually has a Ertl Gordon, but it got damaged it lost the pretend siderods some of its wheel arches part of the cab and the tender and there was no screws to attach him

Looking at those dodgy Thomases, it makes me wonder if the first shipment or so were errors and a corrected running change is on the way. Happens all the time with action figures, along with questionable face prints which can be even more jarring because the face is sculpted.
Best example I know is Mattel's WWE Ultimate Edition Kane, the paint on his mask was off kilter and his right arm was cast in fleshtone and painted red but not in the elbow. They offered replacement parts for folks with the dodgy version but I'm not sure if that's the case with Thomas.

Honestly, I do prefer the AEG push along Gordon over the 2020 version but I hate the side windows of the AEG version, my only complaint with the AEG version.

Your recently bought a James push along 4.99 guess it was no 7.99 where I'm at WTF I still bought it anyways because because kind of less Trackmaster there's not that many push alongs but there was some I didn't have Ugh 😒
I can't tell if I should regret using my Thomas Loco Motrin or not, it's in very... *not* good condition now... But I do like to just look at it and just be glad I own the Thomas version at all.
Why oh why does Gordon have James' wheel configuration?
I hate the fact that MATTEL PUTS MORE EFFORT in making the All Engines GO toy look like their on screen counterparts, than they did with the CGI toys since 2014.
Keep in mind that majority of Thomas fans and even the general public DO NOT like the reboot.
Gordon is a perfect visual example of the decline in quality in Thomas toys. His toys went from having at least 10 wheels to having 6 wheels. He has gotten awkward proportions where his cab is super squashed like the others and his lining is even off.
And then we look at All Engines GO Gordon has more than 6 wheels, his cab is taller that his boiler, and even his lining looks neat.
When AEG items are found In The UK Usually After The Release Amazon Sells Them As Imports So, GET READY FOR PUSH ALONG GORDON IN THE USA!!

Bandai Tecs Gordon was better than Ertl because not only was he the right wheel arrangement, but because he had rods on his wheels. Too bad Japan got better TTTE Toys than the rest of us did.
