Driving the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland in a motorhome, in 15 days. Day 3 - Clontallagh to Malinbeg

- Day 3 of the Slaw's 15 day drive along the Wild Atlantic Way @wildatlanticway in their Hobby motorhome @HobbyCaravan
They are following the route North to South taking all the Signature Discovery Points and a lot of the Discovery Points.
Day 3 takes them from Clontallagh on Rossguill to Malinbeg.
Discovery Points - Doe Castle View, Horn Head, Bloody Foreland (Cnoc Fola), Carrickfin Beach, Narin/Portnoo Strand, Glengesh Pass, Malinbeg
Horn Head proves to be a lot longer than the usual route as the Slaws go off piste up a cart track with the potential of having to reverse all the way back 😱
Slaw negotiates Helga along the narrow single track roads, but this is Mrs Slaw's worst nightmare! Steep drops into the sea 😭
They park overnight at Silver Strand beach at Malinbeg and enjoy a superb sunset.
/// stiffly.incorporated.amazement
Day 3 = 120 miles
Total = 300 miles.
Thank You. So interesting such lovely scenery.
Thank you Rose!
Omg.....looks so beautiful
It was stunning ❤️
Beautiful unspoilt beaches. Enjoyed this vlog. Pretty windy coming up those steps Si ! 😉
Thanks Linda! He’s a card isn’t he 🤪🤦🏻♀️
Being Irish, we holidayed in Donegal a lot when I was young. The beach that you had the ice cream at, Narin beach, is opposite the bed and breakfast we always used to stay !
Small world !!
Donegal was our favourite part of the trip. What lovely holidays you must have had 🥰
U should have driving up along Runway to the Boat Strand above Carrickfinn Beach!
Didn't realise it was so beautiful there. So good for the soul, all that countryside and views!!❤
Anne it’s stunning! We’re having a really great trip!
Stunning views the beach looked amazing. Those lanes looked very tight. Ireland has opened our eyes to how beautiful it is.
We absolutely loved the trip! Stunning but yes, some VERY hairy roads. Glad Slaw was driving 😱
Fabulous…..love it when you find ballygobackwards 😉
Thanks Lorr! We are absolutely loving this trip 🥰
We're really enjoying following your adventures, what stunning beaches you've visited, some of those roads I wouldn't even attempt in a car, so well done slaw👌👌, looking forward to the next vlog, take care Tony and Cas xx
Thanks Tony and Cas! The roads get worse 😱 The Beara Peninsula was horrific!
Wow, just love where you're sitting on the beach!❤ Its absolutely deserted , marvellous!😊
Thanks Anne! The beaches go on for miles and are deserted in the far north ❤️
more super beaches but the roads are scary! the music in the beginning is lovely i keep thinking Michael Flatley will come bounding onto the screen! those steps phew!!!!!! x
Thanks Margaret! Those roads are my Achille’s heel 😱 We’ve just driven around the Dingle peninsula today. The views were (apparently) spectacular! I had my eyes tight shut and I was clinging on to my seat 🤣
Enjoyed another day's journey!!! Be safe!
Thanks Ken!
Hi there, another great instalment, we were up in Donegal a few years back, camped in Portnoo, and went in to Ardara ( pronounced Ardraa apparently) popped into a bar called Nancy’s after a lovely meal at about 10pm, for just a quick one of course, ended up leaving about 3am, the place filled up with musicians and a great session was had by all. Everyone was invited to sing a song, I ended up singing “In my Liverpool home” . It’s definitely on our places to stop at again when we do our WAW trip.
That sounds like a perfect evening Geoff!
Really enjoyed you Vlog. Safe journey and wishing you both an enjoyable trip along the WAW....🚐👏👏☘
Thank you! We are loving this road trip! Ireland is stunning 😍
What a stunning place thanks for the vlog's
Thank you Phillip!
Yee guys had us in stitches this evening.
I smelt that fart down here in west cork Slaw 🤣 reckon yee earned a pint of the black stuff after that experience.
Thanks Mary! Thank goodness we were outside 🤦🏻♀️
We went to Achill Island 3 years ago fantastic. Had a great evening in a pub in West Port. Fabulous music.
Lovely!
Looks a lot less commercial than the NC500
enjoy your hols .
Ian & mia
Thanks Ian and Mia! It certainly is in the north. It gets more ‘peopley’ further south.
Great video, when in Westport take the coastal route to louisbburgh and take the R335 to Lennaun via the Doo lough pass, beautiful scenery, you can overnight in Lennaun, head to The FIELD Bar where the film of the same name was made. Keep up the good work 😀😀
Thanks Vincent! We’ve driven down the Doolough Valley on day 7! One of my favourite roads 🥰
We watch and learn tips and sites from you two, we have just moved on after a loverly night beside Lough Swilly .thanks to both of you🍻
Thanks John! Glad they are helpful for you 👍🏻
Bummer! You should have walked up the footpath to the WWII lookout point to see the rock house at the end of horn head! Great place to send up the drone!
I think you've sold me the idea of a trip to Ireland now! 😊
Oh definitely worth it! 🚍☀️🇮🇪
Have you been impressed with it so far ?
That last beach looked stunning 😍
Totally impressed Lisa! We’re loving the trip 🥰
Horn Head is amazing, my parents had a caravan in Dunfanaghy and I spent many summers there as a child, brave of you to take some of those roads, well done Alec
We loved Horn Head! It was scary in the moho but the roads were quiet and the views superb!
Simon, Are you support/fan of Mercedes 👎🤣🤣 I noticed you both watching F1 at laptop 🤙 I'm Ferrari fan ❤ Come on Charles. Donegal is beautiful scenery. We're definitely going to Wild Atlantic Way 2023. This is my bucket lists. Thanks for your lovely vlog. thump up. looking forward your next day 4 😉 Let's gooooooooo ha ha
Hi Carlo. Yes I am a crazy F1 fan and follow Lando 👍 Cheers Slaw. Ps I do like George as well 👍
This is an impressive looking road trip, not an area we ever visited but you’re definitely selling it to me. What a beautiful quiet beach you found for lunch. Those steps looked a killer! 😅 Safe onward travels, Sue.
Thanks Sue! It is a truly beautiful country ❤️
Loving the videos of your WAW road trip, so much so it’s inspired me and the wife to do the same exact same trip this September, we currently live in Leeds West Yorkshire and be sailing from the same port, we’ve ordered the map and need to put an iteanrry together, hopefully it’ll turn out like yours 😂, enjoy and so looking forward to the next videos 🇮🇪
Thanks Mark! You won’t be disappointed! It’s an awesome road trip 🚍☀️🇮🇪
Wow what scenery, well done for that rather hairy road ride, i think i would have shut my eyes, but the scenery is rather special and well done on all those steps i dont think my poor knees would have liked me very much, not good with stairs or steps, another good one thankyou as allways xxx
Thank you Linda! We’ve driven the Dingle peninsula today. Apparently the views were spectacular but I had my eyes tight shut 😱
I still think Cemaes bay looked more beautiful than what you have shown of Ireland so far.
My apologies, I’ve just seen the end of the video, amazing beaches.
We loved this trip! The beaches were stunning 🤩
well Mr slaw I guess we've all done it took the wrong turning ended up on that single track road praying nothing comes the other way at least your on in island lol and you've shared it with us so fair play for that I'd blame the navigator 😂 my wife always gets the blame enjoying your vlogs very much until the next one take care you both the gowerz Portsmouth x
Hey Mark! Cheeky 😉 We’re a double act (as you know 😂) both to blame. It all adds to an exciting adventure 👍🏻🚍
Yes you are a brilliant double act at that love watching you guys ps don't keep drinking his Guinness lol
A few years back we took a trip to Annagry in Donegal and the person who rented the house said the youngsters liked to change the road signs for a laugh 🤣🤣 carry on south 🇮🇪
🤣 we gathered as much! It has continued as well 🙄
That’s a hairy drive down from horn head in a small car, can’t imagine it in an RV. I said this same thing heading for that guard rail last month.
It really was hairy Mark! That barrier did not look at all substantial 😱
Ok Ann, I’m 4 minutes in and the music is there! It’s not Hill Walk, that’s the first track, it’s the young guy who is singing, rather provocatively 😂😂😂 unless it’s Slaw of course! I just love the track. Ok, on with the vlog…. 😁
Hi Alison! He’s a bit special isn’t he 🥰 It’s Jason Dering. He’s on FB. Hope you enjoy the rest of the vlog by the way 😉
@@mrsslaw9242 Lovely! Thank you, I just love the words 🥰 The vlog was great, you both look so relaxed, even on the wrong track 🙈🤭 and those 🍦🍦 looked yummy. Safe travels both 🌞
What stunning beaches. sorry about no signs or misleading signs, ,it happens in some places 🙉 Enjoy your travels.
It all adds to the adventures Mary xx
18:52 More tea Vicker?
🤣
Be sure to bring to our attention any monuments, signs, or notable stories you discover about the Fae ( fairies ).
There is speculation that they might be found worldwide.
Will do Greg 👍🏻
Crackin vlog as usual guys, would you recommend the pedal lock? We have a stoplock steering wheel device we use when touring but would like extra portable security when away. At the house we use a heavy duty wheel clamp not really practical to lug about with us.
Cheers.
Thanks Kenny! Yes definitely recommend the ATE pedal lock. No paid promotion. A really good bit of kit that we use 👍🏻
@@mrsslaw9242 thanks will have a look.
Hi, could you tell us where you got your front seat covers from please, cheers Les & Teresa.
Hi Les and Teresa, we got them from EBay. Hopefully this link will work www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133897237651?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Da30c086ecc204a44bc27d7e8e037faf1%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D181997565591%26itm%3D133897237651%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A775b5da0-e81b-11ec-8e1c-e6862aa00f02%7Cparentrq%3A498f0c621810acd85d8099acffff37c8%7Ciid%3A1
Loving your trip so far... been from Ireland its always nice to see UA-camr's do it justice as you both are doing so... 👍 wee fact for ya... Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex in the city) has a summer home in Ardragh, she visits quite often. How far are you both actually ahead ?
Thank you! We’re home now. We completed the route and then had a couple of nights in Dublin. It will be a few weeks before all the vlogs are out. So plenty to look forward to 👍🏻
Loving watching your videos, what map book are you using to plot out your wild Atlantic way route please?
Hi Pauline, it’s Wild Atlantic Way Route Atlas by Xplorit.
Ola, Mr & Mrs slaw, have you got a link to buy the security clip you fitted to the brake and clutch, cheers, Mr dave
Hi Mr Dave, it’s from ATE Fabrications. Hopefully this link will work, if not Google them or they’re on FB. www.atefabricationandweldingltd.com/product-page/peugeot-boxer-automatic-2015-2020-pedal-lock
Hi, not sure if you've replied, it says you have, but I can't see it
I’ve tried again. If it doesn’t work this time, email me on theslawsadventures@gmail.com
Hi Mr Dave. Mrs Slaw has tried twice to send you a link but we think it hasn’t worked. So please email us at theslawsadventures@gmail.com and we will send you the link.
Regards
Slaw.
Hi we are crossing to Larne on Tuesday to start the WAW..just realised our dog needs Tapeworm tab did you do yours in NI or in England before travel, wife's in panic mode now! Tia.
Oh dear! You have to have the tapeworm treatment done between 24 hours and 5 days before entry into NI and recorded in your AHC or EU pet passport by your vet. We had no checks done of our paperwork in Cairnryan, Belfast, Dublin or Holyhead on this trip.
@@mrsslaw9242 thanks we have eu passport obtained in France last year so familiar with entering UK ..anyway managed to get an appointment at Vets 4 Pets Hospital at Barnsley tomorrow am then on to Scotland crossing at 8.00am Tuesday..for 21 days we are following in your footsteps as was a spontaneous decision, happy travels.
Ever thought of using GPS and Sat navigation? 🤣
🤣 Maps are much more fun 😉
Just wondering if you have a sat nab in the motorhome.
🤣David! Yes we have, but maps are much more fun, also the WAW route takes many twists and turns so direct Sat Nav routes would take us off the route and we’re sticking to it all the way (with a few detours 🤣)
Cocked up then slaw🤦♀️
🤣
Surprised the EU let you in.
They don’t know we’re here! No hard border between NI and Ireland 😉
What is the map book you were using. Please
Hi Teresa, sorry about that. I’ve shown it on all the other vlogs 🤦🏻♀️ It’s ‘Wild Atlantic Way Route Atlas’ by Xploreit. I got mine from WHSmiths.
@@mrsslaw9242 Thank you I got mine and am starting to draw it out
Was that a fart at around 19 minutes in ? 😝
Welcome to my world with Slaw Claire 🤦🏻♀️
Why does your “what 3 words” words send me to Africa ?😵💫
Thanks Keith! I obviously misheard Slaw 🤦🏻♀️ I got entertainment and amazement confused! Edited now 👍🏻
@@mrsslaw9242 haha. Thanks been trying all sorts
At 18:54 does someone fart?
Slaw 🤦🏻♀️
@@mrsslaw9242 You need to speak to Mr Slaw Mrs Slaw!…
