I find it really helpful to see how others build and think about their goals for the year. This is my first year of really making goals and planning out how to get there, so I appreciate hearing from others!
Me too! I’m always so curious about other people’s process! That’s why I try to share more of my own every year ✨ I just shared my 2025 reset vlog today too, and I give a look at how I’ve planned out my year based on these goals using Milanote if you’re interested 🥰
Hi Laura, that's so cool! Hoping all is well these days. I would like to feel more confident in my art style, simplify the ordering process to purchase art and gifts, have the courage to pitch to more companies, and considering investing in an art style course once it feels right. Plenty of big plans, but I feel called to reflect and prefer to start the year slowly as the winter feels like a resting season. My word of the year is simplify. Appreciate the inspiration Laura! 🥰
OMG Yes to starting slow!!! I read somewhere recently a quote that was something like: December is for reseting, January is for reflecting and February is for resolution and I love that idea. I'm taking January really slow and focusing on reseting my life and building more supportive routines 🥰
Those are some good goals for 2025! I accidentally took a year off from creating any art and posting in 2024 due to health issues and taking on a part time job to have a bit more disposable income, which meant the only goal I hit last year was to get the PT job (I was actually really struggling with this in 2023 so it felt like a good accomplishment regardless) 😅 2025 goals are to really reflect what it is I want and how I want to take my art/illustration into the right direction and finish off what I left behind last year 😂 I really struggle with creating things and worrying about what other people will think of it/me… 2025 is about making things that I want to make! 😊
I think are being too hard on yourself - choosing to look after your health and get a PT job so you can have more peace of mind are both super important things that will help you show up and be creative again when you are ready. 💖 Back in 2018 I went back to teaching after taking a year out to 'figure out what I wanted to do with my life' (and failing to find the answer) and it was really hard to make that choice because I felt like I was somehow failing myself and my bigger dreams BUT it was in the little moments, my commutes, my breaks, my walks to and from the bus stop and my waits for delayed trains that I started to make more time for drawing on my iPad and finding my passion again. My job became the thing that supported me in achieving my dreams, rather than taking me away from them - it was that mindset shift that helped me get to a place in 2021 where I felt like I could pursue this work full time 🥹 BUT I'm so grateful for the lessons that the years of working and finding a way to prioritise my dreams taught me; it is one of the driving reasons that I am always getting back on the horse when I get knocked down - if I could do what I did then, with the little time that I had, then there is no reason that I can't do it now 🥰
Love those goals. As a new business owner myself I think I'll get some inspiration from you and try to have fun with my content and avoid trends because I know it will give me burnout. thanks for the video and omg I love your christmas tree in the background
YES to that!!! I've started saving videos or pieces of content that inspire me or that I like for inspiration when I'm feeling stuck too - I think this is more fun that just scrolling from a trending audio or recreating a trend I've already seen a hundred times on my own feed. I get that trends help increase reach, but I feel like people are starting to shift away from them because let's be honest, it gets a bit boring seeing everyone we follow recreating the same trend sometimes! 🙈 But I'm glad this video inspired you - I'll be sharing a more detailed look at how I wrote out my business plan in this week's video so be sure to stick around for that 🥰
