23:25 "Microbial Shroud, also really really good" - a year ago, this would have been our signal that Lowko was kidnapped and trying to signal for help
I don't know enough about the game to really deserve to be laughing so much at this but i sure am, lol
Microbial shroud got so much unnecessary hate when it was introduced…
When the lowko's caster curse is so strong it made serral cheese
This comment is GOLD!
"Anyways" - jk lowko you my fave sc2 caster
Is there another caster worth watching? I haven’t found one.
@@Armyofsephiroth harstem casts some fun games too
"someone put something in serral's cereal this morning"
i like this sentence and idk why
It's like a reverse tongue twister
@@LowkoTV yes lmao
(semi)Alliteration.
Serreal?
Hydras sucking is the saddest thing i've seen in SC2, they were my fav back in SC1.
Not anymore.
"What if your opponent disconnects or makes a mistake?" You sound like my League of Legends teammates that refuse to surrender when it's 50-2.
When it goes to 50-2 and your opponents havent finished, that might as well happen. In the leagues where this type of score happens, its more about which team makes the last mistake, rather than the first 15.
@@Merumya He was obviously Exaggerating..
@@masumasumasu when its not 50:2 then its winnable anyways. he has a point there. the problem is the weak mentality that all want to ff all the time they are behind xD i rather play 10 min with knowing ill probably lose than ff an absolutely open game
@@Tom-yg7mi How long does a game have to last before that mentality changes? What period of time of suffering makes it not worth the off chance of a stupid, unlikely victory anymore? Furthermore, if there IS a time limit where it's obviously not worth it anymore, how do you know that the game won't reach that time limit before it gets there? If you decide that longer than 10 minutes isn't worth continuing to play, what do you do when the game goes longer than that 10 minutes? Do you quit there? But, surely the game won't last ANOTHER 10 minutes! If you're saying that you'd rather suffer for 10 more minutes than give up on a 1% chance of victory, then even after the 10 minutes are up, you would still see that there surely won't be ANOTHER 10 minutes, so there would still be no reason to leave in your mentality.
So, even if you set a time that's "worth" suffering for a chance at victory, that time will never come because it's constantly starting over. You're always going to be like "Okay but maybe the NEXT 10 minutes are going to be worth it." FURTHERMORE, even if you only wait precisely 10 minutes after you determine a game is a lost cause, that time can still add up. If you're doing that 10 times a day, that's almost 2 hours of your day wasted just suffering for a ridiculous 1% chance of a victory. Is that worth it? I'd rather spend those 2 hours actually having fun in a different game.
@@TheDisarminghinkle You also need to learn to play from behind, it will be good for your mental game.
I swear Serral could beat my Zerg with nothing but his starter drones XD
Nah he can't because you put 3 spines on your ramp...
But you have to tell him to drone rush.
He'd beat me with his off race, blindfolded and asleep with his pc turned off.
When Lowko said "Wait what if your opponent disconnects?!?" I felt that
Asking for my dad, is that rude to disconnect the moment you are losing against 12 pool? I am asking for my neighbor, my dad.
Lowko:
"Would mind a little bit of speed up on the early game?"
Me:
"Why would you ask?"
*Returns LOWKO from x2 to the regular speed*
Particularly if it lets Lowko focus on the game, rather than smalltalking us to death.
something to be said about the state of these pro games if you can skip 5 minutes of the match and literally miss nothing because it's copy/paste every time, almost like reading the same page of a book a dozen times and hoping the outcome of the page will suddenly change
@@BlackRainRising well, it happens from time to time, when two macro-oriented players with similar playstyle meet. But that's not the canvas for majority of games. I wonder, would you mind the facts like "you have to build racks in order to get orbital" or "you need cybernetic core to go to t2"? Cause things like these are main reason for repeated patterns.
BTW, when PRO chess players play, you can say up to 25-30 first moves, because they're all calculated already. Like, chess doesn't change for 200-300 years already, while Starcraft has been here like this since early 2020 without significant changes. So there're a lots of ways for starcraft to improve!
Yes, you can speed up through early games ONLY when we already saw it in a previous game within the video. Otherwise no =)
Thank you Lowko for the broadcast :)
Speeding through any 'normal' early game is what I've been wishing you've been doing all this time. Please do this more!
I actually love to watch this type of games. I don't play my self anymore, but there is something special for me watching to players using inhuman army combs properly. It just feels amazing when serral micros so many hard caster units.
It's good when players don't gg out as soon as it's a loss so us normal brained people can get a picture of why they are totally fucked at that point.
My God. Two of my favourite words in one title. "Serral" and "cheese" >.>
Gouda , Munster, Cheddar, & Serral, they pair nice with a fragrant Chianti, Merlot, or Harstem ...lol
@LowkoTV I'd like to recommend Elazer vs Denver game 2 from today's group stage to cast, it's crazy, scrappy and suprising, don''t wanna talk too much to avoid spoilers.
Noted! Thanks
I'm happy with speeding up the early game. Please do it often, Lowko.
At first I didnt like the Idea of the speed up at the Start but its actually nice. Maybe only do it in Series ? Anyway gonna watch ur vids :)
3:00 the way you said "what" is really like trying to hold back "the f*ck" part
Lowko : "Late game PvZ almost always leads to a Protoss win"
Me watching every Lowko video with 99,99999% of late game PvZ being a Zerg win : "Are you sure about that?"
I think this because you watch a disproportionate number of Serral games.
Yeah I feel like almost every time Protoss loses. Skytoss is basically unwinnable against Zerg for pretty obvious reasons. Abduct means you always bleed resources. Spores are extremely strong, mobile, no supply anti-air. Fungal Growth, and the Viper spell are both incredible against massed air.
Really, if a Zerg loses against Skytoss, they're kinda trash at the game.
Honestly it's always Zerg I wonder what videos Lowko is watching 😂
@@JorenMathews tell me you don't play starcraft without telling me you don't play starcraft
@@JorenMathews You saying like spores can't be picked up one by one by tempests and abduct has 1000 range.
You forgot the magic unit with feedback and convenient aoe spell that can delete the zerg air army easily
I bet you also forgot that considerations need to be made when making air units because hey, only one zerg unit that shoots up and down. What about skytoss? Oh right, every unit shoots up and down
Fungal growth? The units are slow and skytoss have 2 units that can give vision, one being an invisible radar and the other being a tagging machine
How many sporecrawlers you need?
*Yes*
Hey Man! Thanks for all of your great casts! I really enjoy your banter! Thanks!
wonderful series! Thanks Lowko!
48:24 I said yes, I would mind and you went with it.. how rude!
Serral winning game 2 with about 16k resources in the bank is just incredible
It's really a crazy game. He lead Max to jump in a hole. 3 mamaship gone and bankrupt.
Appreciate the little speed-up.
I like when Lowko says "Usually"
morale of the story, if you want to beat protoss as zerg, just play like serral. Common guys it's easy :D
Exactly people. Trouble with Skytoss? Just play like Serral, why don't people just do it already?
I feel like MaxPax doesn't feel as decisive in the macro/end game compared to most other protoss (but he's getting better), so I feel like part of why it looks so easy is because MaxPax gave Serral more breathing room than Serral would normally get.
12:40 overlord escorting the probe lol
I really liked the way, you scipd the boring building phase :) Pleas do that more often!
Maybe I am just getting old, but the fact that people spent 10.5k hours watching this video (considering everybody watched the whole) is just mind blowing. I don't even want to count how much hours did I spend watching Lowko's videos (every video in the last 4-5 years :D).
Speeding through the early game is great!
BIG YES for speeding up the early game 👍
MaxPax! MaxPax! MaxPax! Amazing to see you on this level of play! Fight on!
serral is invincible when he is in alphastar mode
Usually I would mind speeding things up but at this point Lowko, you made a good call. =)
Lowko: HOW?
Serral: More spores.
Fast forward totally justified there
48:20 & 49:15 I was disappointed at first, but actually it is really cool to see the sped-up perspective alongside the normal speed in the same video. I think starting the first match at normal speed and then switching is best.
It seems like the majority of late game professional PvZ games that I've seen go the way game 2 did here. Big expensive skytoss units get continually abducted for free while the protoss poke their way clumsily around the edges of a spore crawler forest.
Yeah, but in that first skytoss game, maxpax probably could have tried to win after he killed all the vipers. easier said than done though, when you have full map vision and all the info he doesnt have.
I can agree here, the fact that vipers can sap buildings to get energy back super fast, unlike any other unit in the game, and spore crawlers can uproot to push or counter attacks, unlike the other races static defense, really shuts down Skytoss attack opportunities. I kinda feel like those two abilities should be removed and it would make the dynamic much more interesting.
As of right now the only real viable attack strat for skytoss I can think of in those late game scenarios would be somehow pulling off a mothership recall behind enemy lines so the massive spore forest can be negated. But good luck sneaking a mothership anywhere against zerg.
A careful protoss is a dead protoss. When im laddering against protoss they just aggressively kill all my vipers with the carriers and move ahead. All this pulling back from the protoss is exactly what Serral wants.
Hey Lowko. I don't mind if you speed through the early game (unless something really exciting happens). I usually skip a couple minutes of the video anyway when I am short on time.
Oh, yeah, my favorite build for terrans: Stargate into 3rd Hatch
You were a lot less biased on this cast which I appreciate because as watcher it gets kinda, repetitive and annoying but your casting has gotten sooo much better! Love the videos keep em coming!
Second game of this bo5 was awesome. Would like to see how Serral would hold up with other top Protoss players in the end of 2021
I don't see any of the top 4 zerg rn not being absolutely dominant Vs toss.
I assume it'll still be Vs terran (maru and Clem), particularly the later that seems to be their hardest matchup...
39:18 "That's mostly just the shields that are hurt" as 20 supply worth of void rays die.
We don't mind skipping through some, we will follow you no matter what
No outro? I like it.
Serral is a dream to watch, and a nightmare to play against.
49:23 this is literally what I do on the 3rd games
Sped up gameplay = yes please!
23:15 never seen a spine actually pull an unit before
7.4k zerg vs 7k toss. So much fun
27:46 stay hydrated boys
I always thought queens can only transfuse if they are on creep.
How does it work they can transfuse at around~8:20?
Does the restriction apply only for other units that are not queens?
Keep the fast-forward as is. It's perfect to speed through the part we already seen some times
it's life for the swarm
Lowko: Serral plays so safe and its almost predictable
Serral: okay lets cheese him
players like Serral are the main reason why I do not play SC (1+2) anymore... trying to delay a game till the absolute endgame, when everything is mined and then dancing around the oponen for an eternity, waiting for a mistake/opening. thats so not fun to play against, cant even watch it, especialy when the enemy follows the same strategy Oo
Holy fuck I died to the Brenda, Karen, Margaret
I dont mind the speeding up in long series in the early game (if nothing special happens ofc)
Jeez I was caught off guard seeing Serral do that in game 1
(Serral breathes)
LowKo = OMG!
i remember this series, its an old (at least 6 months) match... :(
I think quitting early when there's still that 1% chance to win, or to wait for your opponent to mess up
is just a sign of respect towards the opponent's skill, although I can see how that can be taken as a giving up too easily
In my humble opinion, i feel like the arrow pointing to the mommaship is too short and has not enough loops.
Needs more arrows too, in more colours for good measures.
what arrow
The speed at the beginning is ok
i dont think ive ever seen serral lose a zvp before which is just crazy to even think about
This is just my opinion; but I imagine Serral is okay with late-game because Serral knows how to deal with late-game Protoss units. Especially when you compare how easy it is for Zerg to replace units while it takes a lot of resources and time for Protoss to replace units.
serral makes late game looks easy because protoss is all concentrated army in one place while serral harrass with fast units. and he put up spore crawlers everywhere. he also keep units all over the map for intel. letting him know what is coming in advance and what to do, while protoss is blind until they moved to a place.
and serral is much richer. so the moment serral has more income, i already know he will win each battle.
battle of attrition only depends on mistakes by either party. so if they both played well, serral is just going to win when protoss mine out. And all the abductions makes it easier to win. out-income + abduction usually is a win.
I still want Serral's Cereals to be a thing.
Nothing but love for serral but I think Maru is probably the player most will say is the greatest SC2 player of all time especially considering his longevity.
It's literally a floating nexus, that costs twice as much and takes twice as long to produce... But damn, it looks *cool!*
It needs a buff really badly!
@@Tonius126
The Mothership does its job perfectly fine for its cost; force the opponent to invest a lot of their resources on detection that can potentially eclipse the Mothership's cost depending on how well the detection investment requirement is abused. And most detectors are preferred not to be used at all, plus they have to make a lot of it (or burn a ton of Orbital Command energy in the case of Terran, which means way fewer mules) or else it's too easy to just target them and have your cloaked army be uncontested.
@@joshuakim5240 Not really. 1 abduct = dead mothership. why build "mass" detection when you can just kill it outright. The mothership almost always just dies immediately to abduct and 2 volleys from corruptors. I haven't seen any pro games that weren't like this.
That outro didn't feel right. Just a "gg".. hmm.. somehow missed the "I hope you enjoyed watching this..." ^^
Plot twist: Serral is Kerrigan’s backup account.
Serral is godlike and beautiful to watch!
I don't mind speeding through predictable early games particularly later in longer series
I see Serral, I click.
Nothing wrong with speed, as long as it’s commentated I’m happy
Seriously how do you legit counter a mass corruptor/broodlord? I cant seems to get over them despite how hard i tried, voidray are said to counter corruptor but i'd say corruptors burst damage is alot more lethal if you know what i mean. Whenever these kind of battle come up its impossible for me to win
Don’t mind the speed up
Serrrel is such a beast !!!!
Look at Max's idle time vs serial in that second fight.
Max is just dumbfounded on what the fuck he can do.
I like how serral indirectly teaches maxpax how pvz is played..
wow got a ad on cheez its on this cheese video LOL
It’s gotta have tons Cheeeeseee please! It’s the best part of SC!
WE WILL FORGET TO SMILE !!!! ALRIGHT???
Honestly I really enjoyed Game 2, I know maybe it would get boring if it happened every time- but does it happen every time at the pro level if no one but Serral Dark and a couple others like playing it?
Sped up early games in some really predictable openers or in long series are good
In the second game though, how would Serral know Max didn't finish the shade? He walked with the physical adept outside the overlord vision and Serral didn't have a zergling spotting that so Serral was still in Schrödinger cat scenario. At least to my understanding.
I feel Serral wins in the late game like game 2 because he is patient. He does not go on the offense other than small sneak attacks. If at any time his patients gives and he over extends he loses. All he has to do is take what he can get never over extend and just keep slowly taking the other units off the table while sending those sneak attacks. Edit - haha my point exactly LOWKO loses the patients game. You were not patient and had to speed up game 4. I'm not patient enough myself but that's the difference between us and Serral, LOL.
def speed thru early!!! no matter the build order , ,start always is the same
I see yoinks in thumbnail i click
IS THAT MATH THAT I SEE ON THE THUMBNAIL!?!?
The Lings and the Banes. Is that Zergs answer to Terran Birds and Bees? Sound like heresy nonetheless
Nah, speeding through it, honestly I normally play the videos at 1.5-2x unless some absolutely crazy micro or stuff is happening so I totally understand.
It never EVER fails to make me laugh when you start naming the queen's marching over. I don't know how it gets me every time.
Lowko where is the ending credits and don't forget to smile? :(
I don't mind the speed up if it's at least a bo3 and first game is macro I suppose
Explicit rules are not needed I suppose, because no one's gonna say anything about speeding up the early stargate of a pvz
In long best of 5s I think you should speed up the early game of match 2 or 3 forward, if the matches have been short you might as well enjoy the moment of calm.
Quick beginner question : why does pro zerg player have the zerglings scouting the expansion always patrol a short distance, instead of just standing still in the middle of the potential base ?
More coverage of vision for potential oracles
Early game speed up is good unless there’s something unusual
