Les Murray - we all grew up with him, he brought so many memories into our home - World Cups, European Cups, FA Cups, NSL Grand Finals, etc. He was a great Australian.
A national treasure. He and Johnny understood that by taking the world game seriously as Australians, and by being successful, the rest of world would take us as a nation seriously, not only in a football context, but on the world stage in general.
Les an Australian treasure and gentlemen, his knowledge on football and presentation will be sorely missed. Always enjoyed his commentary during the yearly 6 weeks we spend in Australia. Rest in Peace my friend. You certainly are not forgotten.
I got to know Laszlo at the Toyota Cup in Japan in I think it was 1989. Porto played Penarol. What I remember fondly is conversing and spending time with a kind and down to earth man. he was asking me (????) what i thought about certain parts of the game and football in general. Me? I cried when he died and I cry every time I think of the 10 days I got to know this brilliant man. Anyone who says a bad word about him is a fool!
Nah man, Les was number one. He basically digged football out from the dirt and made sure the sport was being played in Australia. Without him you’re lucky to see any football coverage being shown on the TV. Richie and Dennis are awesome, but no one was as passionate for any time of sport more then Les.
I always considered what Ritchie Benaud was to cricket 🏏 Les Murray was to football ⚽️ the world game, for years I always thought he was from the North of Italy wasn't till he died that I found out he was from Hungary.
Brings a tear to my eye. Les gave us so much. An absolute legend.

No one will ever be able to replace that beautiful voice. You will always be the voice of football to me. Rest in peace

Les was the voice of football in Australia. May his soul rest in paradise.
Thank you Les for everything. A true legend & icon of the world game. Irreplaceable.
A great australian. To me, he is ranked behind Richie Benaud and Dennis Cometti as the best sports commentators in Australia.

Richie is great thanks to 12th man
All the intros combined made me cry 😢
respect, a great man
Laszlo Urge had a great passion for the game. I loved the 90s with his sidekick Andy Paschalides. Inside Soccer treated him like a god.
We miss you, Uncle Les!
