Sorry to hear about your ankle and COVID! 🙁The nice thing about painting from photos is that you can do it even with a bum foot and while sick! I love your experimental approach to mixed media... you seem fearless about trying everything!
Big fan of your "splodge and scribble" approach and really enjoyed these...although as a lover of greys, I can't help but note how easy it is to mix warm and cool versions just by combining 2 colors, for example, Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna...I hope you feel 100% better soon, Helen!
Oh my I hope your sprain heals quickly and you get over Covid as well. Love the first painting, the charcoal really solidifies all the elements and really finishes the painting. I can almost hear the water rushing onto the beach. Love the birds and footprints on the second painting. Makes it more fun! Keep up the wonderful work!
Some accomplished splodges and scribbles in the two paintings. I find it most enjoyable to watch you work and to show us in real time. Now let’s hope for a quick return to full health.
I love the colours you’ve chosen, so beautiful and they really evoke the colours of the rocks in Cornwall.👌 Love those granulating textures in the watercolour too. Feel better soon! x
Lovely paintings! I love the waves in the second painting. So sorry to hear about your fall and Covid 😢. I hope you recover quickly from both. Get lots of rest!
I do enjoy your splodge and scribbles, they’re very inspiring and I learn from them. I’m so sorry about your accident and Covid. I hope you heal fast and feel better soon and it’s not a bad case ❤x
Beautiful “splodge and scribble” sketches! I enjoyed very much watching you work, thank you for sharing. Wishing you speedy and complete recovery, from California with love ❤️
Wow! Loved watching you do these two beautiful ocean pics. The perspective was super good! I loved the colors and the added pencil and charcoal you did on top of the paint. Thanks so much for sharing and praying you get feeling better very soon!Susan 🏜️❤️
Ooh lovely,a splodge and scribble,my favourite, thanks for the real time painting part, this really helps me. Two more beautiful paintings. Sorry to hear you’re poorly, wishing you a speedy recovery.
Oh no. Hope you’re feeling better soon. COVID did a roll thru our house over the past week and a half. The three of us all just tested negative today and I’ve still got the croaky voice. You’ve got me thinking about consolidating my palettes as you’re right about not using all your paints. These two pieces came out really nice. Love watching your process. Looking forward to more on your latest in St. Ives. Thanks.
I hope you all bounce back OK, energy wise too! I had it about a year ago as well, and it took quite a while for my energy to come back. Thanks ever so much!
I adore your splodge & scribble technique, especially love the colour palette of both pieces and the use of charcoal pencils😍 Your gigantic watercolour palette is pretty awesome too🤓 I really hope you feel better soon and your sprain heals quickly. I totally empathise with your fall. I seem to either trip up and/or fall on a regular basis and currently have my little finger strapped up (of my painting hand no less), after tripping and falling UP our steps.........again🤦🏼♀️
@@helencryer Hahaha, yes, I often tell my family that it's because I'm multitasking in my head and my thought process is always two steps ahead of my actual movements😂
Hope St.Ives was as enjoyable as last time. Sorry to hear of your hiccups! Really liked pic.2, especially the gulls! Hope you’re soon back fighting fit. Thanks. Take it steady.
You kindly addressed my question about using acrylics. I think I was thinking of the ability of acrylics to be used when adding flowers over an already green background. And thanks for the link. Have you thought of a book. Your technique is clearly very popular. Jim.
Oh sorry - I misunderstood! Yes, you probably could, I just don't tend to carry them around with me, and I prefer the immediacy of other materials. That's very flattering, but no, I haven't thought of a book!
@@helencryer I very much like what you produce, and will just have to rely on your excellent you tube videos for now. Have ordered the black ball pens from Amazon. Arriving today. Shall restrict paint to landscape collection (W&N I think), with occasional splashes of acrylic where I think it will achieve something.
I love watching you splodge and scribble-thank you for taking us along! I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you!!
Wow! ❤

Thanks! Definitely not big deals in the grand scheme of things, so might as well try and use the time!

Oh yes, that's definitely a great way to go! I usually have those in a limited palette for greys. Thanks so much!

For me personally it's overwhelming to have so many colors in one palette so I keep them sorted by brand and I switch between them.
I did wonder if it would be too much for me, so I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed having my full choice!
@@helencryer happy for you!enjoy!
