Orient Triton Lite (Baby Triton) review

  • The Orient Triton dive watch, model #RA-AC0K04E10B, is unofficially referred to as Baby Triton, Triton lite, Mini Neptune, Baby Neptune, or the Kamasu XL. The bronze color case sets it apart. This watch has 200 meters of water resistance but is not ISO certified. This dive watch review asks, is this one of the best dive watches under 200 (on sale) or one of the best dive watches under 300?

This is one of the few Orient watches that I have considered buying: I like the color (I calla this the “bronze “ orient) the orange i n the bezel, the strap and the overall look of the watch.
Too bad it’s a tad big for my 6.5 wrist.
    Great review as usual!

Hi LIS. It’s a great looking watch but you’re right the lug to lug distance makes it a challenge for some people to wear. Thanks for watching again. 👍

" ...But Orient sticks to it's clever naming system..." :) Good review Eric. Admittedly an Orient fanboy, I probably prefer the " Baby Triton " to Orient's other dive watches, all of which are terrific value for money, but this one just seems to hit the sweet spot as a correct size for me. The Kamasu and Mako II seem a little undersized for my wrist. The Kano and Mako XL are right in there with the Triton, but the Triton ( for whatever reason ) is worn more than the others.

Hi David. It’s a great watch if you have the wrist size for it. I’m generally an Orient fan too. They give a lot for the money. Enjoy your watch. 👍

Good review. The lug to lug is a little long but on a 7 inch wrist and above it's fine. I have the pepsi version on a bracelet which will likely wear more comfortably than the NATO setup. I've had some of the older orient divers in the past but this one is by far the best I've owned. I also looked at a Kamasu but in my opinion this is the better option with more of a tool watch feel to it.

Hi John. I agree with you. It’s a great watch with the one caveat being that lug to lug distance. Thanks for watching.

Another great review Eric, I very much enjoy them. Nice watch but not quite for me.

Thanks Paul. The size and bronze color case makes this watch not for everyone. But a lot of people, myself included, loves to look at watches even if they never make it into our personal collection. Thanks for watching again.

@@EricsEverydayWatches The bronze not overdone, looks great just the size.

Do you know how they achieve this bronze colour? How robust is it? I'm a little concerned how is it gonna look like after some time

Hello karkru. I couldn’t find any information on the Orient website about what process they are using. And the watch is still new enough that I haven’t heard anyone comment about the bronze finishing over time. Sorry I can’t answer your question. Maybe you could contact Orient directly and ask them. It’s worth a try.

I'll bet the length of the strap is probably to allow for wearing over a dive suit.

Hello Hrethgir. You could be right. That would make sense. It would be interesting to know what percentage of people buying Orient dive watches actually go diving. For me, I would prefer a shorter nato, but that does make sense. 👍

@@EricsEverydayWatches I'll bet the percentage of these going actual diving is probably higher than you would find on a Submariner or Seamaster. Its relatively inexpensive, plenty durable, and won't bankrupt you if something goes wrong with the watch underwater. Expensive watches, even with high water resistance ratings, prople get nervous washing thier hands while wearing them, don't want to hurt that resale value! Thankfully for this watch, a NATO is easy to replace, but you're bang on about the metal parts no longer matching. Might be able to swap the tang and buckle to a new strap, but not the keepers that are held in with stitching.

6:20 I like it a lot… it add some originality to the watch, making it something else that a copy of SKX007 with fancy colors !
