What a plot - doing her duty despite bringing shame on herself and feeling a deep betrayal to her husband, the gracious understanding of the senior police official (who tactfully allowed an excuse (her "dream") for her familiarity with the supposed thief) and then an uplifting ending. Excellent!

I like this. I've seen the Onihei Crime Files series with Kichiemon Nakamura, which was very good but this one is different and I don't think this story was part of that series. Once again, many thanks SvN for serving us with excellent and absorbing Japanese shows.
while watching this, i thought of oshin from "the sea is watching". i'm glad onobu fared better than oshin, i hope she got to open her inn, and grow old with her new man
33:17 I don't understand. The Nobutaro raped the Onobu against her will. Wasn't he a rapist? Being raped was a bad experience for a woman. Why didn't she report to the official to arrest the rapist Nobutaro? I don't realize what the playwright was thinking. Couldn't he create a romance between the two of them? What kind of lousy story of that a man was saved by a restaurant woman and he raped her in return and then married him later. Wasn't it a bizarre plot a playwright could make?
So wait! did a look-alike get arrested? because the mark behind his ear was a mole, which was not the correct identifier. so did the real thief/murderer give money to a look-alike so that he could live an honest life? is that what happened?
This seems to be an exceptional series, good stories with real human depth and feeling.
