- CINE EI can be great way to improve your S-Log footage with the Sony FX30, but you have to make sure that you truly understand how it works or it can give some poor footage. In this video, I will not only show you how to use the various log shooting modes(Cine ei, cine ei quick, and flexible ISO), but I will also show you what is actually recorded to your card.

Right on for this video! I did wonder how to use the Quick Cine EI, I think that will work better for me. Question..What is the of point if changing the ISO on the screen while the recorder video no changes in exposure?
I don't totally don't understand why Sony thinks that's a good idea. It's to show what the video will look like if you boost it in post. That's what I think at least.
Based on what I saw in the Sony video, I linked, it allows you to monitor the scene you are filming, at an increased light level.
Nice video on the Cine EI feature. There is a lot of misinformation on this camera and the dual base ISO system. For most people in everyday usage, sticking with S-Cinetone or one of the picture profiles would be fine. Cine EI is for when you are controlling your lights while filming in a studio, with full control over the lights. I will admit though that I have used it to record low light scenes walking around the streets and it turned out well, I have posted some videos on my site on that. Outside, for non-professional stuff or if you don't want to worry about adjusting ISO, then Flexible ISO would be better, especially if you aren't using an ND filter to compensate for the extra light and want to use a lower f stop.
Yes, flexible ISO is the way I shoot.
Me here soaking up info b4 the show tonight 😂😂😂😂😂😂 because for some reason rn i know nothing
I would love to hear how it goes. Good luck!
Sony EI should be used as false color. It’s a tool to see how it will look
When I change the f stop.. The recorded footage will change or 🤔😃
Yes it will change when adjusting f stop
Thanks for the video Michael. There is not much out there in UA-cam land on cine EI and the FX 30 but I did notice that there’s lots of stuff with Cine EI and the Sony 6 and 9 tutorials. I’ve been using the Cine EI with the FX 30 professionally and it’s a bit of a mind bend to say the least. But in the end, I’m getting the best quality out of the camera that it could produce and color grade it in davinci. honestly, I still don’t struggle with the damn thing but what I do is watch my histogram and do a proper exposure so when I take it into davinci, there is actually very little grading to do unless I want a certain look but in general it’s like what you see is what you get. From what I understand Cine Ei from what Sony says is that cine EI is there film look profile. I’m shooting with it outdoors natural light.
Hello. Can you make a video about the lens 18-104 in combination with the fx30. I think it's would be very useful for everyone. To see how does it performs in low light and blurry ground.
I shot this with the setup you mentioned. ua-cam.com/video/wkPXDMGZCr4/v-deo.html
@Michael W. Turner Thanks. So when you upscale from HD to 4K can you see that it isn't "real" 4K? I'm asking because you know that 4K files aren't very friendly with your PC and storage.
Here is a link form Sony's site on how to use Cine EI: ua-cam.com/video/R_b2uCCjhfQ/v-deo.html
Hi there, hope things are good. Thank you for your review of the "Canon XF400/XF405". Can i ask, what video camera do you recommend for 4k please? that allows me to change the setting during filming. All the best
ua-cam.com/video/ZZROKvY58EY/v-deo.html
There are lots. Depends on your budget and what you are shooting.
@@MichaelWTurner Hi there, many thanks for your reply, i really appreciate it. Id like at least 4k @ 60fps. 10bit. Something that can record for at least an hour in one take (interviews), or ill edit 20mins it with a second camera. My friend and i wanted to do some filming projects, small scale. I was considering a DSLR as these seem to allow more flexibility during filming. Were saving up for £2500-3000 mark. (Would love a Nikon Z9, or Black Magic URSA Mini 4.6K or that 12k version). Thank you for any advice, have a great year
Nice video.
Thank you
Eff that. I just do flexible iso. Lol
Do you just use the iso to expose you’re image correctly? Or do you just strictly stick with 800 and 2500? I went out the other day with the base ISO at 2500 and when I wasn’t exposed correctly I then get noise in post. Do you crank up the ISO past 2500 to get your exposure correct ?
You are actively confusing people who did not check the cine ei things. Not good.
"...did not check the Cine EI things" not sure what you mean.
