Thanks for the amazing review. Please.show us how to connect go keys with midi cable to laptop and test the software voices. Also tell us if the software use laptop output only or the piano transits to midi directly
Just bought this go keys 5 keyboard in the U.K.for approx £422. The features are connectivity are amazing for this price point not to mention the usb stick which hooks you into roland cloud straight through your cell phone. I'm not a professional musician and wanted something to improve my skills and eventually link into a DAW and this ticks all the boxes.
Yes, I have the original Go:Keys, but getting this. It is essentially the FP-E50 I wanted sans the 88 weighted keys that is not a priority at this tine, at hslf the price. Yes, it has dual/stereo output jacks that are ¼"! And the mic input with effects/vocorder, a sustain pedal and expression pedal input jack, along with the USB and download dingle inputs. Incredible.
@@phillc I also plan to get a Yamaha CK61 in the future, that is such another awesome keyboard. And when I am ready to go with 88 keys, probably the RD-08/88. That would be all I need. I already have a Yamaha PSS-A50, Casio CT-S1 and a Roland JD-Xi. I had a whole bunch of other gear, mostly Roland/Boss before that.
@@jjacob25101 NICE! I've got to get back to my Casio days lol. Been a long long time. First keyboard I learnt on actually then the KORG boys released the M1....
@phillc I have a Casio Rapman and in storage I have the little white keyboard calculator Jimmy Fallon plays on his show sometimes. When I was real young, I think I had one of the very first Casio keyboards. So old, I can't find anything on it. It was a silver very basic, I think b2-3 note polyphony silver metallic keyboard with one speaker. I think only a few sounds, like 3-4. I grew up with an old Cable Nelson acoustic upright piano. But my first real keyboards were a used Fender Rhodes 73 Stage and the Roland JX-3P synth in 1983 that I get new when it first came out. I chose that over the Juno 106 and the Moog Source that csne out at the same time. I later got an XP-10, a cheap plastic case version of the XP-50, which came out after the renown D-50 family. My church had a used Yamaha DX7. I don't know where it is, it msy be stored away somewhere. I plan to get that CK61 later so that has the 4 Refaceseries keyboard sounds and more. I also had the fully loaded Fantom X6 with expansion. It it's so outdated by even things like my Go:Keys and now the Go:Keys 5 snd others, but itvwas a nice looking keyboard and well made construction.
How would you compare this to something like the Yamaha PSR-EW425? I know that one has 76 keys while this has 61, but the prices are similar, and the Yamaha has L/R outputs too. There's also the PSR-E473 with 61 keys, and that one also has L/R outputs, and it's only $369 on Amazon now. I dig the white color and overall look of this, but I don't feel like Yamaha has fallen behind unless you think the sounds on this one are so much better.
Great question Daniel! This one packs a meaner punch. The sound quality is right up there with the big boys and the best of the best. Disturbingly impressive for the prices. I could easily record newer "today" music with this bad boy! The synths, pianos and other voices are right up there with the top-tier. Quite shocked at Roland for changing the game so crazily! PSR-EW425 is in every way entry level but this is not (although it has the entry-level label). You can also keep updating the sounds on Go KEYS. Astounding.
GO:KEYS 5 sounds much more robust on the bass register! GO:KEYS 3, sounds about the same. Still I need an external speaker for that oomph sound when playing outside.
Yes! You can use it as a controller. If that is the main thing you want to do with it, GO Keys 3 does the same in that regard and is cheaper at $349 be aware though that these keyboards do not have a traditional Midi output. They only have USB to computer so they will only be controlling your VST sounds and not other keyboards.
Thx for quick reply, it's ok if it only controls vast, as long it would not have some crazy delay in input. Have you actually tested it with daw or it's educated guess? Thx!
Very true Paul. Most other keyboards are that way in other countries. I have always wondered at that reasoning. Tariffs and other local charges most likely.

Despite we have to watch an upside down video, the information you gave to us is good. Thank you.

How much improved is the speakers' sound quality from the original Go Keys 0/1? @jjacob25101
Dont forget the $5.00 sound/rhythm add-on packs available on the Roland site!
@@hooyah_whit7054 👍👍👍😃
Do the actual keys feel any different to the previous gokeys?
Largely the same action. Maybe just a little springy if that.

GO:KEYS 3 has 1 loudspeaker/side meanwhile GO:KEYS 5 has 2 loudspeakers/side👍, resulting the much better sound👏.
@@PeterAngyal You're right. I returned the original Go:Keys and got Go:Keys 5 instead
Do you have to own a WC-1 dongle for the Bluetooth to work or is BT standalone?
@@davidwagner3170 the Bluetooth is standalone. It is helpful in playing music through your keyboard speakers from other sources like your phone.
Does it have a dedicated song bank button? to switch between voices?
Thanks for the question. It has categories of Piano, EP, Synth etc. You can also set your favorite for each category.
I was wondering if this keyboard would work well as midi controller??

No music rack?
No bro. Not in a store! I ditched my physical big ole music rack some years ago though. It now resides in my Laptop.
