    I never get bored of that GE 90-115B startup, never will either. Very smooth landing at LAX!
    Looks like the AA terminal, T4 is getting a renovation/expansion of sorts. And at this point I'm guessing all terminals are connected by walkway post-security? I know DL and WN had some big projects going on around that for T1-T3.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  14 днів тому

      Yes to both. I believe the T4 renovation just wrapped up. I think it was StandbyColin on Instagram where I just saw a bunch of pictures of the completed terminal. And yes, all of the terminals at LAX are now connected with walkways or tunnels post security.

    I was watching Godzilla 1985 and now, I'm watching your Super-Amazing video. This is a little known Godzilla movie where Raymond Burr reprises his role as the reporter who watched Godzilla ravage Tokyo 30 years earlier. The 1956 movie was before he began doing his Perry Mason show. No wonder Perry Mason always looked like he had PTSD. Watching Godzilla devastate Tokyo was his most trying case.
    This is a very good installment and well worth watching. This was the first of the Heisei Era films with Godzilla vs Destroyah being the last one. If you have not seen this movie, I recommend it. You can find it on the Internet Archive and also, someone posted it on UA-cam.
    Anyhow, another Super-Fantabulous video on your part. I feel jet lagged from watching it.

      I mean, you're not wrong. I'm 6' 2" myself and the only reason I get relief sometimes is that I have status with the airlines so I can often pick the extra legroom seats for free. But most people don't fly enough to have that option.

      You're welcome. Have you thought about trying Frontier Airlines?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  3 місяці тому

      I have flown Frontier in the past and those flights are already posted. I don't have any plans to fly them again. When it comes to Frontier, Spirit, and Allegiant, they just aren't the type of airline I enjoy flying. So I tend to only fly them when they have the perfect flight I needed to fit into my schedule. Which, let's be honest, isn't very often given their business model haha.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  5 місяців тому +4

      Well, it's a bit of a long story so I'll try to shorten it up. I graduated college with two bachelor degrees in 2012. One in Airport Management and the other in Aviation Management. I then spent 6 years working for Envoy Air and American Airlines before getting a job with the City of Joplin, Missouri as an aircraft rescue firefighter and airport operations specialist. The latter being more in my education's wheelhouse. That said, the 6 years I spent with Envoy/American was super fun. I had flight benefits and my wife and I flew all over the place for free. It was "the good old days" before kids and all kinds of other adult stuff haha. Well, during that time at American, in 2015, I started this channel. At the time it wasn't even called Skylite Productions. It was still just my name and I started uploaded takeoff and landing clips just for fun. I love aviation, commercial aviation, and traveling. So, I started recording like 5-15 minute clips and uploading them on here. I almost marked them all private as I really just intended for it to be a logbook of my flying. I honestly didn't think other people would even watch them haha. Well, turns out other did want to watch them. The channel wasn't even monetized back then and I don't think I got my first check from UA-cam for ad revenue payments until 2019. So for 4 solid years, it was literally just something I was doing for myself and for fun. Well, after I left American and got the job with the City of Joplin is when I monetized the channel. See, before then I was flying for free. Which was great on the wallet, but came with some strings attached. It was very clear in the American Airlines non-rev rules that you were not to "profit" in any way from you flight benefits and you were to use them for personal use only. So, that's why I'd never monetized any of my content. Well, once I left America and didn't see myself ever going back since I had really only worked there for the flight benefits, I then monetized the channel. It took UA-cam over a year to then approve the channel. So it was January-ish of 2018 before I was even eligible to earn ad revenues. But the channel was still pretty small then. I mean I don't remember how big it was, but I wasn't even pulling in enough money per month to meet UA-cam's minimum payout amount. In 2019 that changed though. I took American's last MD-80 flight and I also had a flight with a crazy turbulent approach, and another with a mechanical emergency landing. Those three things happening so close together kind of rocketed my channel up and it was then that I got my first check from UA-cam. It was a whole $134. Not much, but hey. I was now 3 years removed from free flight benefits so I'd been pumping a considerable amount of money into the channel those 3 years. I mean, everything you've seen on here since January of 2017 I have paid for out of my own pocket. So I was thrilled to get anything haha. Fast forward to today and the channel has slowly grown every year, and in January of 2022 I left my job at the city to run this channel full time. The as revenues I get from UA-cam now pay for most of my flights. So, as you can see, it was a long road to get to that point, and it was never something I planned. It all just kind of happened because I had a passion and I was just happy to share it online with others. Now, I'm by no means pulling in tons of money haha. This is all still a carefully budgeted affair every month, but I'm pleasantly surprised with the course everything has taken. I never thought my diplomas would be in a box in my closet and I'd be filming flights all over the world with iPhones, but that's where I am now. So, the TLDR version is that this channel is now the reason why I fly so much and how I pay for the majority of it. You know, uploading a new video every day requires a lot of flying haha.

    Do you ever put labels on your videos to show what you’re flying over?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  5 місяців тому +1

      I used to. Especially on the individual takeoff and landings. I'd timestamp when we were flying over certain things. But, ultimately I quit because no one ever seemed to care about them, and it's extremely time consuming to go in and do. Writing the descriptions for each video is already the most time consuming part of the whole editing and uploading process, and doing that times it all by 100. An example of what I used to do can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/LexKjuoZoV0/v-deo.html

    • @sla31
      @sla31  5 місяців тому +1

      Well, I’ve been filming flights for nine years now. And only two times out of 1300 flights have flight attendants told me to stop filming. Coincidentally, both of those were on American Airlines. However, the contract of carriage you sign when you buy your ticket with American Airlines specifically says you are allowed to film and take pictures provided you do not film crewmembers or other passengers. So if you were filming in the cabin, then the flight attendants might have actually been correct. If you were filming outside and were not filming other passengers or crew, then they were wrong. In both of my cases, I complained to American’s customer service department after the fact, and was issued an apology and advantage for the inconvenience. Also, both of the times it happened to me, were many years ago at this point. Probably at least six years.

    • @SocalAviation12
      @SocalAviation12 5 місяців тому +2

      @@sla31 well I was filming out the window and I have the proof on my channel and I’m just a kid tryna get big with msfs content and flight content In general and I didn’t complain but a bunch of pther people also made complaints on that flight about one specific flight attendant for being rude so I think the flight attendant might of been having a bad day or something. But moral of the story I was filming the wing for landing and I love your channel btw thank you for doing all your flights and filming them I’ve probably watched like 300 of your videos with the preflight boarding take off and climb once at cruise altitude and then decent because I don’t have the most time with school to fully watch 8 hours of flying but I still love what you do and thank you for it

    I hate flying now. Check yourself in pay for extra bags pay for better leg room pay for food pay for entertainment. Very soon they will start putting people in cargo containers. I flew a lot in the late 70s and the 80s and what a pleasure it was to fly back then the airlines treated you like a human being.
