Aloha Classic Quarter Finals

Tough day of competition! It was definitely not an easy day to sail for anybody out there, and I had a hard time finding the right waves for sure. I went for the rotation play early in the heat, and it just didn’t score high enough to get me through. As the wind died throughout the latter half I struggled to find any meaningful ways to show a point of difference through turns. I’m bummed I couldn’t go further, but I sailed a heat that was very “me”. That initial Taka rotation was incredibly tricky, I don’t think I’ve ever done one quite in that way before, with all that body extension! #geckotaka Ultimately I’m a playful sailor, an emotional one too, if I’m not doing what’s fun then I’m not going to do it well. I didn’t once do an “unfun” thing and I hope that showed in my sailing here this year. I will continue to pursue that passion side of the sport, as I know from experience that you shouldn’t trade it for anything!

Without wanting to criticize the commentating, I don't think the taka is "forced" at all. Waveriding, windsurfing, surfing in general is playing with the elements - this is something that doesn't translate easily into words, not to mention scores. But when I watch you riding, it makes me want to go out there. And how great is it to be an inspiration to other people?
