ive done this a few times now. straight up beginner. ill keep at it. alternative to that pigeon? i cant get that leg under anywhere near close what your doing. I'm a 50+ with poor flexibility so that one doesn't seem realistic doesn't feel like I'm ending on a positive. cheers
You can do a reclined figure 4 instead, which has the same target areas. But also, a huge chunk of our members are in their 50s and 60s, so you're not on the younger side.

Hi guys! When doing the side stretch when I release to come back to standing straight the opposite side gets a pain. Am I bending too far or coming back too slow or fast? Enjoying my 3rd month of yoga and my healthy future!✌️
You're probably just doing something you haven't done much of before. Discomfort is ok but pain is always bad, so if something hurts stop. Be sure to engage your core and go slow. Keep up the good work!
Hi Dean, I realized in pigeon position - my left side is more painful. It feels tighter and I hardly can get the hip touching the ground. What dies it means?
You probably need to work on your flexibility on that side, inconsistencies are normal. Discomfort is ok but pain is never good, so stop if something hurts. Don't force your hip and sit on a block if necessary, you'll get there eventually but you have to be consistent.
Hey, I really liked this workout even though I would say I’m more intermediate than beginner. The workout was great until the pigeon at the end, cause ai cannot even get close to that pose. My front leg just won’t bend that way. I was surprised to find that in a beginner yoga routine with no variations. It did not make me feel good about myself, especially that I’ve never had this kind of problem in any of your other videos, which I have been enjoying in the past couple months.
Glad you enjoyed the video, for the most part. For pigeon, don't push yourself if you feel any kind of pain. The variation would be to pull your front foot closer to your body, reducing the angle of the knee. Sometimes sitting on a block or rolled towel can be helpful as well.
@ManFlowYoga thx to you. in 2 weeks I can get out of my truck and walk normally,I sleep better, my hips don't hurt and because I was a Marine I go 100% and hold your poses for up to 2 min, yoga is exhausting

Keep practicing and while improving your balance use something, like a wall, to help.
