    These micro brusless sub 50g quads are the future. I have been flying FPV for 4 years. And the flying sites and public image have suffered. The sub micro quad changes all that. People look at it as a toy. They smile and laugh watching it fly. I hope you get with piroflip and design a sub 50g quad. FYI, I have a 1s whoop with a AOI Vfx/DVR. The video isn't great (VGA) but it's the next thing. A AOI Vtx/DVR 720p at under 6g with smart audio control 25-100mw output, would be the ticket.

      I'm working on the frame but I've asked TBS to consider making a brushless whoop AIO 2S board with crossfire built in. With this kinda performance and flight time, you can really cover a LOT of ground. The super low output 2.4g stuff just doesn't cut it.

    I just built one from a snapper7 with those props I still had from trying to build the brushed Flying Prius and a quick 3D printed frame. Hovers under half throttle, really smooth for indoors on stock PIDs. Your PIDs seem super high, I'l try slowly increasing them outside. I have like 3mm of clearance between props and even less between props and the board. The stock canopy was too big, so I 3D printed a simple camera holder. 37.4g AUW

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  6 років тому

      Yeah these pids are what I used to use on the brushed quad. Seems like the brush less is similar in that respect. I'm not sure if it has to do with the total lack of power or the tiny motors and large prop or something.

    BTW, the Beecore F3 V1 Brushless does not have the motor plugs attached to the FC, but it does come with the plug connectors so you could easily mount them on the top or bottom of the board, and even to side. Not sure if this will help you routing the wires or not but I thought I would mention it. Of course, you could remove and reattach the plugs on most FCs but this one would save a few steps.

    I had a hubsan that used those props or something similar, very elliptical blades. They do work surprisingly well on 1s. There are bull nose props that I put on that worked almost better but resonate a bit. I ordered a trashcan and might order a second to transfer the parts over to your frame. Or maybe I'll 3d print a frame without prop guards.

    • @Kabab

      I'm seeing mixed reviews on all the 2s micros. Hard to know which to choose. The mobula 7 looks nice as does the emax but it's like every reviewer has a different Achilles heel for each of them.. Perhaps I'll get an emax to transfer the parts, sure it's 1s but atleast having different props will help with the turtle mode issue. Guess I'll make a decision on a second micro after I recieve my trashcan which has been shipped.

    I'm surprised no one had talked about the Lil Duece frame. I don't have one, so I can't really give an opinion, but it's made for extreme ultralight micros. Most people are flying those on 2S, so I suppose it might not be an apples to apples comparison.
    I have been trending away from 5 inch quads for about a year now. For me, the micros are just less stressful. They are cheaper, less dangerous, quieter, more places to fly, and just a ton of fun. They still don't have the power of a 5 inch quad, but I don't need to go 120 mph and wake up everyone in a half mile radius haha

Don't need it for the long range but you do get a very reliable link and telemetry which allows the luascript to work. This adds about 1g to the weight. im still working on putting together something like this, but with a frame with interchangable CF propguards so you can fly indoors also.
    the main goal of build is to make it cheap as possible, including allround gear like charger, batteries, motor lifespan, cost of componets etc.
    because for example you can make a 5' quad or similar for about$150 but battery cost, esc cost, and everything that can broke is way more expensive with larger quads, and also largar quanity of mass sped up to higher rates make parts disintegration way easier unfortunately.
    so, no#1 rule: cheap, durable flying

    Try the iFlight 0804 15kv on 1s & 56 or 66mm props. I use the Bat100 & SPC95 frames. These 0804's are on Amazon for $35 a set, kinda high but EXCELLENT quality.

      The problem with those options is that they don't come with JST connectors on them so they're annoying to solder up.

      I understand that POV. For me, building is a big part of the hobby.
      Anyway, I like your Prius and wish there were more frames like that available to purchase.

    Nice... since I buy a whoop (UR65) I am wondering if I will still fly my 5" on the long term... Thoses whoops cost like nothing and they are very durable...And mostly I do need to drive 20min to a spot....But be aware that those prop cut skin like butter.. I get several scratches on my arms and fingers... will not happy to have in my face even a low speed
    I have design something similar board below the frame and cam on top fix on a tpu mount (USe tpu like spring to fix the postion of the cam).. The tpu mount comes quick heavy
    Did you increase tge speed of the video at the beginning?

    small suggestions to the frame. make it 3x3 and 4x4 motor mount available, so people have option to put 1102, 1103 on it like people at flexrc do to their frames. for fc/esc mount, have options for whoop mount, 16x16mm, 20x20mm mount. so people can have options to put whatever they want onto the frame. but still it looks fine the way it is. now can you just sell the frame as it is with limited amount, so I can have something to work on ? please
    ps: and I appreciate that you put pid on here too. thank you for that.

    • @Kabab

      I've made the 3 hole and 4 hole pattern compatible on the same frame before but it was a bit of a mess. I'd rather just have dedicated frame options for the two mountings

      probably not. I showed them the models similar to this I was building over a year ago. They fly the same as this and only weighed about 7g more. They sent me some awesome prototype motors and I sent them a built quad to try. They didn't pick it up and I doubt they'll bother now still. I'm working on putting together a kit for these little things because it's just too damn awesome not to.

    Have you thought about making a frame with carbon tubes in this size? Might help in further reducing weight and improving both durability and Aerodynamics?

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  6 років тому +1

      Tubes will add huge complexity we don't need. For one thing, the motor mounts alone will add significant weight. This carbon frame is 4 grams. Hard to beat that.

    I can print the tops out of tpu. Not much extra weight and pretty much indestructible to impact based on the ultra low mass of the aircraft. I will order a toothpick but for now really like the extra room on my old bat100 frame w/ 2s f4 stack.

    This seems perfect for my needs! I can barely fly anywhere near me because of stupid aviation (jk fpv is my way to fly and I want to become a pilot) I would totally be up for helping make a frame if you want. I would just need some measurements and I think I make a ok frame.

    I am with you on the excitement for these ultralight brushless whoops. I have the Mobula, Beta75x and Tiny Hawk. They are all much better than previous generation whoops. I have been able to fly them around people and buildings that I would never have considered with my bigger quads. Have you considered a build with the Caddx Turtle? I have already seen modded Mobulas and Beta75x's but something lighter and non-ducted looks even more promising. I know Diatone has the 239HD and there is a Tiny Leader that also uses the Turtle but perhaps your combo would be better in overall weight and durability eventually. Oh, getting a TBS Unify and Crossfire combo board would be awesome and something worth paying more for.

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  6 років тому +1

      Unfortunately the turtle weighs as much as this entire quads AUW. It would fly with 2S but not so good and hard to fit.
