Glad to see you back in Greecè. In more than twenty yeaŕs of living and woŕkinĝ in Africa and Europe i found Greece to be, by far, the friendliest and best country for a great holiday. The food, the wine, and the ladies are beyond compare.
Hell yeah. May is one of the absolute best months to be in Greece imo. Before the summer tourists arrive, and the weather perfect and the landscape is green and beautiful.
Gia sou Gabriel...welcome to Greece! Just to let you know...if you don;t already know that this is the Megali Evdomada and on Sunday 5 th May we celebrate the Orthodox Easter. Wish you to enjoy your 2024 Greek adventure. Always enjoy watching your trips!
You are so correct. That battle of marathon changed history. If the Persian army had won wow history could have been much much different for the world. Grrrrr wanna watch entire vid now but no time 😅 looking forward to finishing this later

Welcome back Gabriel! As we learned from school,Phidippidis ran to Sparta to seek support from the Spartans to face the Persians who outnumbered the Athenians. Then he ran back to Marathon to fight in the battle. After the victorious battle he ran to Athens 42 kilometera to bring the good news to the Athenians. He only managed to say 'Nenikisamen' to the Athenians meaning 'We won',and he collapsed from exhaustion and died.
If this video is anything to go by, your Greek adventure is going to be epic! Already feeling the richness of the history, seeing ruins and towns, and loving every minute of it. Thanks for bringing all of it to life and happy 34th anniversary.😊❤

I'll confess that when Gabe gets into history I tend to tune out but this one grabbed me. His command of what happened when to whom, and his ability to give us the broad-brush strokes of how the Battle of Marathon affected both eastern and western civilizations, was pretty remarkable. And I loved the expression on his face when he saw the door to the Marathon museum was open. An "oh boy, really?" moment. I think of places like this as pocket museums, small spaces not widely known but with special treasures. I was mesmerized by the photo of the Greek getting a hero's welcome back home after winning in the U.S. Memories of pocket museums can stick with you forever. Unknown ahead of time because they're so small, you just stumble into them. Some of my favorite pocket museums are the tiny Joyce Museum in Dublin, the Croatian Museum of Naive Art in Zagreb, and a Croatian anthropology museum in a little town I can't remember the name of just north of Sibenik. As usual, Gabe gets the music in this video exactly right.
So happy you are back in Greece. Just spend the rest of your days there exploring every inch., every island , every town , every church…… 25:28 Would love to see an immersion in Crete with the Minoan culture! Gretchen

Hi Gabriel, that area around Attica has a tremendous amount of history the Temple of Poseidon among other things to see. The history of Greece is so important and considered to be the cradle of democracy set the stage for modern political systems known still today.
Temple of Poseidon is on Sounio...on the edge of cap ,in the southern coast, not on the eastern side as are the sites of Marathon around he visited so long..
