Had been looking for someone teaching this for a while but didn't find one until your videos were recommended. He's a pet dog but I want him to do all that they do in competition. Subscribed!! He's a 9 month old giant schnauzer ❤️❤️
Ive been using a lamp post at my local park to teach this. Will it carry over to a schutzhund field or should i find a goal post/soccer goal? Great video thank you!
Hi Kevin, i have a Rottweiler and train IGP with him. He is doing very well. The only thing is he does not show very much interest in a ball. So if that is the case what tips you have for me to learn him enthousiastic sending out? kind regards, Stephan
Fuss 20-30 paces before the send-out, don't send at 10-15 paces. You can also halt a few times before the send to break up the anticipation. Practice the downs out of the send-out picture, walking to the dog, walking away, etc. to avoid pickup anticipation.
How do you start phasing out the send out pole ? Does the dog just look for the pole to run out too and therefor when the pole is not there , get confused and not know where to go and has just associated the pole with the send out? I guess not to bad for stuff like goal posts etc but what if there is not one available ?
Longer send outs… they can’t see it until they run further. Then at nationals typically it’s a football field, and there’s a giant send out pole (goal posts) at the end of the field. :)
Thanks for sharing Kevin. My dog does okay on our home field because he knows exactly where the balls are even though they're not visible but when I go to a new field he begins to zig zag, please do you have any ideas for fixing this?
Send him closer. Start over almost, and move back again. It’ll go way faster than the first time teaching him on home field. Then go to another field and repeat on 2-4more fields.
@@SchutzhundKevin Thanks so much Kevin. On the home field, I don't use the send out pole anymore and he goes straight ahead, do I need to bring the pole for the first few sends on new fields? Thanks again 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

All the above. :) Generalizing to a bunch of fields is key.
How do you make that pole/ball hanger?
Can you do this with a pup or a completely green dog
i very like these your videos. Can you add subtiles for them?

Food bowl at the send out stake. Feed him dinner there.
How do you correct a dog that starts to anticipate the send out and creeps forward or pops up into sit when walking away down field
