As a leader I've been struggling to remember the sequences I've learnt at classes, but at socials my brain kept going blank.
I've heard several times that followers prefer well executed simple moves before fancy combos, and most followers are at a basic level. So I decided to try a different approach and ditched the sequences and based my dance from what I knew.
I listed all moves I've learnt and marked the very few I knew by heart, without thinking. How can I combine these? Not much, but it was the solid foundation I had to build on.
I practiced it on socials, found some flaws that I corrected, began to add some moves and alternate continuations.
Now two months later I got a flow in my dance. Still very limited repertoire, but I can see that the followers now appreciate the dance. I don't plan my dance. At each moment there is always a natural continuation. At some points I can do a split second decision on how to continue. I don't always know where it leads, but I usually handle it. When I fail I'm soon up and running. Now I'm present in the dance.
Now I strive to step by step expand this effective repertoire of mine. I pick pieces from the sequences taught at classes and workshops.
This sounds so much like what I am attempting. I have listed my steps and marked them alphabets. Step A, B and so on.
