I really appreciate that that made the Tarbo somewhat unique from the rex, I’m so happy it’s not just a complete reskin of an existing dinosaur and that it has some pretty nice unique animations
Frontier made the best of a bad situation here imo. I hate universals insistence that every new design needs spikes, and I wish this was Gorgosaurus or Daspletosaurus instead. That said, it still looks great. Quick edit: I wonder if the scratch animation could be a nod to Prehistoric Planet? Bit of a reach but it reminded me of the Tarbos lazing about post meal.
Im not the biggest fan of it because it really just looks like a spikier t rex and I get you kinda want to differentiate it from your rex but because your rex already has an iconic yet inaccurate look you could make your tarbo a bit more accurate (not every dinosaur design has to be accurate and I don’t expect that from Jurassic world but just an idea) and sure you might want to make it scary but you can easily make a more accurate dinosaur design scary but it depends on what you do with it, how you make it act ect ect The frontier skins do help quite a bit though I’m also not a fan of the posture
I like how the hatchery exit animations is completely different to the T. rex animation. Rexy strides out confidently and roars, Tarbo, much slower and cautious in it's movements, sniffing the air and looking around before deciding to walk out and give off a roar. Definitely more like an actual animal when being relocated into a new, unfamiliar area.
Say what you will about the design, but the skins and animations for this thing are really good. Shame there's no unique kill against the other large carnivores, but the goat and human kills are rather entertaining to watch, and the hatchery exit, social, and lying down animations are oddly cute. I can see this one pleasing a lot more people than expected. Also really like the touch of it being smaller than the T-Rex instead of being the same size as it like how it was in CC. Just adds a little more-accuracy and helps it stand out a bit more.
The dark green skin reminds me of Speckles, from the Korean kids movie (which is also known as Dino King). That depiction also had a crocodile like armour, and could’ve been an inspiration for the camp cretaceous design.
To me the Tarbosaurus design feels a lot like Frontiers design for Deinonychus, since both had decently big changes made in order to make them differentiable from other species. And just like with the Deinonychus I don't really like it but I also kinda do in a weird way. The Tarbos design kinda reminds me of the V-Rex in the 2005 King Kong movie by Peter Jackson, aka the best King Kong movie, especially in the way its head is shaped.
Tarbo has been my most long awaited dinosaur in the game for so long and in soo happy to have it now And I like the green skins with the white patches reminds me of Speckales from that really bad Tarbo movie
0:44 Definitely not a huge fan of all the spikes, but already I love that exit animation -- so dynamic and full of personality, and the music is so incredibly dramatic too. I also like the low rumblings that these guys make. With all the intense ridges and spikes you could almost treat it like a T. rex hybrid in-game, imagining that it was a T. rex that someone decided to make extra spiky for some reason. Definitely feels like it would pair with the JW Giganotosaurus. Some of the skins are pretty cool, though. Nice to see some bright colors brought in.
The differences between Tarbo and Rex(and Tarbo and Alberta) feels like it’s in the same vein as all the various raptors, from deinonychus to velociraptor to pyro to Utah, it feels like a good way of showing how the different park staff as well as the improvement in their research over the decades would result in different dinosaur aesthetics. Like it’s not gonna be anything as far removed as the crystal palace iguandon and megalosaurus but it does still feel like there’s a progression in their design choices. Hard to say what year these specific ones feel like they’re from though.
Tarbo was also going to have an uphill battle in terms of animations and all that But I love the skins and all that. Plus that human kill has a lot more personality to it then I expected
The way the two Tarbos peering out of the hatchery, menacingly, is my absolute favourite thing in this pack. It also reminds me of one of the famous shots of the rexs from lost world.
Personally I love the tarbo. I think it's very unique from the T rex but just like in real life it does have similarities. I love its head shape, the sounds, and the spikes, and especially the animations.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we wish to inform you that the apex predator of Cretaceous Mongolia, Tarbosaurus, is now on exhibit in the park. To those of you easily disturbed by animal violence, we suggest you consult a doctor before viewing this spectacular dinosaur.”
I’ll be honest I get why people don’t like them but I absolutely understand why frontier put spikes on the tarbosaurus, without them it just looks like a trex
I do think Austroraptor would've been a unique edition, but I don't mind seeing some more herbivores and re-skins of the original roster. Like updated Frontier Rex and Velociraptor skins as an example. Maybe have dinosaurs like Allosaurus use their claws in their kill animations, like some sort of grapple or tackle upon their victim using their claws. I also think they should vary the social animations, kill animatons, idle animations, just to keep the dinosaurs a bit more alive. Don't mind seeing saliva effects when carnivores roar, new blood effects, and actual splashes in the water. Spaking of water, they should give us the ability to deepen the water levels so we could be able to see some new swimming animations for all terrestrial and semi-aquatic animals. This could also bring Nothosaurus into land where it SHOULD be. Seeing animals bleed out from injuries, or even being bone broken, giving them injured animations, I would just love to see. Also want to see humans interacting with everything accessible to them in the park. Eating, drinking, dumping trash, napping on benches, etc. I do think Frontier should start doing a bit more quality over quantity.
Btw you will notice the tarbos sniffing alot that was one of its gimmicks and how it kept finding the campers cause it could smell things from extremely far off
Honestly, im just happy they managed to make it unique. Would be real easy to just make it a smaller rex and in the show it basically is, other than the fact that they are basically the same size too. So good job Frontier
As a big fan of Hidden Adventure, i wanted it to make the clicking noise, so i'm really glad that it's in the game (even if just for the exit animation)
I like to think the human tarbo kill is a reference to camp cretaceous as a whole, with characters surviving miraculously against large predatory attacks, but this tarbo isnt having it.
While I haven’t watched the Hidden Adventure (I have started watching the fifth season though it’s not as bad as I thought, ok) it definitely looks better in the game. It’s also funny how a big predator like this can look cute rolling around.
I don't know how i feel about this one... I always prefer the dinos that look more like animals instead of those that look like are out of a godzilla movie or something. The spikes really downgrades it for me. Wish that we could have an alternative variant like the Giga in jwe. I don't use the movie giga at all since the frontier variant is miles ahead for me. But the animations and skins look pretty good on the tarbo. The model is also pretty good, it's just those spikes. Maybe a swamp like enclosure will make it fit a lot better.
It’s really god but we can hear characteristic „clicking” only when Tarbosaurus comes out from the hatchery? Because I didn’t hear it again when he was in the enclosure
Wait if frontier made the cretacious predator pack are they planning on making a herbivore and piscavore pack as well cause if they make a piscavore pack they could add new spinosaurids like irratator or Ostafrikasaurus
It’s a bad Tarbosaurus, and the spikes are a bit much, but otherwise, I really like what Frontier has done with the animal, especially where the little animations (like that exit) are concerned.
Look at that. It is a reference to Snow White With The Red Hair, which the one where he tries to bite the other's snout, but dodges, kinda like Zen is trying to kiss Shirayuki, but she tries to slap him, but he dodges it. Now that's romantic i guess.
What if an upcoming DLC is an Asian Species pack. Includes Microceratus, something like Zuchengtyrannus to give everyone a more accurate looking large Tyrannosaur, and then 2 more things that I havent bothered to think about
I usually play unmodded but if a good tarbo mod changing the model comes out, this will be the only mod I‘ll use. Tarbo is one of my favorite dinosaurs but the cc model is so ugly
I actually just dislike it actually. The only one in the pack I dislike. It’s not a Tarbosaurus it’s just a T Rex copy with some spikes. If you actually look at a picture of an accurate Tarbosaurus to modern depiction it’s like completely different in every way. The Tarbosaurus in Prehistoric Planet is what it would have looked like and it’s completely different from a T Rex. It’s much smaller and much less thick than the T Rex. While the camp Cretaceous Tarbosaurus is just a Different variation of the T. rex. It’s not unique and it’s a waste of an opportunity. I love the rest of the pack tho
CC could’ve mainly made the animal a bit more slim and slight compared to the Rex. Still could’ve kept the big brows and muted the spikes and it would’ve felt like a better design
My biggest issue with tarbo is that it is a mix between tyrannosaurus, Albertosaur, and the dominion giga other than that I think it’s an awesome addition to the game
I’m not a huge fan of how the head looks on both designs, to me it looks like they just copy and pasted the t. rexes head onto the body with some slight changes. Not the worst by far but it’s something I don’t like
I really appreciate that that made the Tarbo somewhat unique from the rex, I’m so happy it’s not just a complete reskin of an existing dinosaur and that it has some pretty nice unique animations
Absolutely. The Frontier skins do a lot of work for it too even if they're not my all time faves
I'm not that against it, it makes the Tarbo more unique rather than just a smaller T-Rex
Yet in his attempt to be diferent from trex, he lost all that made him unique in the first place
Poetic
@@Alexander9924Except Tarbosaurus wasn't just a smaller Tyrannosaurus. This franchise just sucks at characterizing large theropods post-JP3.

schizo rex
Social Anxiety
I wasnt a fan of CC or the tarbo in the show, but Frontier made me a fan of theirs
i agree
i heavily agree, while i dont like the clicking noise it makes in its release animation its still fairly good!
Say what you will about the design, but the skins and animations for this thing are really good. Yeah the animation are definitely saving this one for me. I’d hate the tarbo a lot more if it used recycled rex animations
Yeah, the skins and the unique animations make it better.
The dark green skin reminds me of Speckles, from the Korean kids movie (which is also known as Dino King). That depiction also had a crocodile like armour, and could’ve been an inspiration for the camp cretaceous design.
The CC one looks like One Eye from that movie.
To me the Tarbosaurus design feels a lot like Frontiers design for Deinonychus, since both had decently big changes made in order to make them differentiable from other species. they really went all in for this pack holy moly... the quality is so high

0:39 10/10 tarbo sound
I wish Frontier made their own original tarbosaurus design and added the CC version as a separate variant in the skins gallery.
This Tarbo reminds me a lot of that 90s Godzilla
Tarbo was also going to have an uphill battle in terms of animations and all that
But I love the skins and all that. Plus that human kill has a lot more personality to it then I expected
The way the two Tarbos peering out of the hatchery, menacingly, is my absolute favourite thing in this pack. It also reminds me of one of the famous shots of the rexs from lost world.
The Tarbosaurus animations remind me of dogs haha, especially the social, its like two dogs meeting for the first time.
I'm a doctor in physics, does that work?
I'm very much enjoying the expanding roster of tyrannosaurids. The new animations are a much welcomed addition.
I’ll be honest I get why people don’t like them but I absolutely understand why frontier put spikes on the tarbosaurus, without them it just looks like a trex
As much as I dislike this Tarbosaurus design because of how generic and edgy it is, I can't deny that Frontier made me actually like it.
I love how villainous he looks, honestly I'm impressed to see such a jump in quality so late in the game's lifespan.
I do think Austroraptor would've been a unique edition, but I don't mind seeing some more herbivores and re-skins of the original roster. I don't really have any thoughts on this one, but it's nice to have it in the game!
Not gonna talk about the tarbo accidentally taking out entire families as it tries to get one dude.
Btw you will notice the tarbos sniffing alot that was one of its gimmicks and how it kept finding the campers cause it could smell things from extremely far off

12:09 I’ve been to a lot of clubs. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say yummers at least not at the gay clubs. XD
I'm glad that we have Tarbosaurus now because I'm making a Carnosaur theme park and Tarbosaurus was in the novel.
As a big fan of Hidden Adventure, i wanted it to make the clicking noise, so i'm really glad that it's in the game (even if just for the exit animation)
Like how detailed yet cartoony it looks
Honestly, I really like it. I really really like it.
Was it just me thinking at 5.00 the thing had died!!!! Lmao 🤣
Look how they massacred my boy
i think they did a good job with the animations for it selling that its a more agile and cautious rex
I like to think the human tarbo kill is a reference to camp cretaceous as a whole, with characters surviving miraculously against large predatory attacks, but this tarbo isnt having it.
Tbh the basic green tarbo looks like a young v-rex to me which is a instant 10/10 for me lol
While I haven’t watched the Hidden Adventure (I have started watching the fifth season though it’s not as bad as I thought, ok) it definitely looks better in the game. It’s also funny how a big predator like this can look cute rolling around.
I like how it blends cartoony and realism, gives it some personality unlike the old Giga or Carcha
I wish they would make the teeth a bit more thicker they look like needles. Also it's hilarious that it has a bigger head than a rex.

Bro those people absolute sent that tarbosaurus
It’s really god but we can hear characteristic „clicking” only when Tarbosaurus comes out from the hatchery? Because I didn’t hear it again when he was in the enclosure
i have both these games but am so struggling to play them as the is so much you have to learn to play these games and I'm not finding it very easy
Can’t wait for the mods that will actually make this model worthwhile.
Wait if frontier made the cretacious predator pack are they planning on making a herbivore and piscavore pack as well cause if they make a piscavore pack they could add new spinosaurids like irratator or Ostafrikasaurus
Tarbo gives me 1998 Godzilla vibes with the head design
this really is the best in slot
Even the most terrifying predator of Asia is as fierce as ever.
tarbosaurus literally looks like an evil Rex
I dont really like the design, but I will say, it looks bloody gorgeous in this game. I will say, this level of spiky is better than the JWD giga
It’s a bad Tarbosaurus, and the spikes are a bit much, but otherwise, I really like what Frontier has done with the animal, especially where the little animations (like that exit) are concerned.
Tarbosaurus: The Alarming Lizard,is the closest we’ll get to a replica of the more famous t-Rex
You know T.rex is in the game, right?

FINALLY MY FAVORITE TYRANNOSAURID ON JWE 2!!!
the frontier Tarbosaurus is absolutely gorgeous
“It’s chonkier, it’s head is thicker”(compared to the rex)
So exactly opposite of what it should be😭🙃
That's JP Creature Design vs JW Creature Design for you 😂

How do you get the Tarbosaurs? Any help please, asking for my son as he's got JW Evolution 2, but he's only 7, thanks

Really, the only issue I have with it are the spikes - everything else, the skins and animations, is really selling me on the design.
