I love the style in which Jerry Skinner produced this video. His narration is so unique, not trying to impress anyone - just trying to give honor where honor is due, and show respect to people (and their surviving relatives) of the joy their work brought so many of us. First class Mr. Skinner!
You got to be kidding. The narration sucks major wind. Skinner sounds like a mindless Arkie, dropping syllables and mispronouncing words all over the place. The vid is decent however, or should I say Hi-ever like Skinner does?
The sadness of not feeling loved as a boy and searching for it his whole life..RIP Steve McQueen..You are remembered as a great actor and showed kindness for that Boy's home you were sent to..
He really was the King of Cool. Being cool isn't an act, it's a life style. Thank you for answering so many questions I had about my childhood Hero Steve McQueen!
Jerry i really like your style, i have watched many of your narrations and i have enjoyed every one of them. Many thanks for posting another 5 star documentary.
God bless you Mr. Skinner for your uploads on some of Hollywood's legends! I like your country voice too, with all respect. This is one of my favorites! Steve McQueen was awesome!
On 09/18/2019 as a Lyft driver I had the pleasure of meeting a nice, handsome fella. He asked if he could ride on the front seat, said he was on his way to pick up his dog pet at a veterinarian clinic in Santa Monica Ca. I couldn't help noticing familiar face features so I asked if he was an actor, yes! he replied. Steven McQueen was his name, the grandson of the GREAT Steve McQueen!!! He produced an Id card. He didn't have to, the resemblance is amazing. Later at home I told my family, then I Google him and sure enough that was the same nice handsome fella I met earlier!! Just felt like sharing this fine encounter I had. Thanks
Thanks for sharing. I know how you must have felt. I am the same way with my favorite movie stars. I was a movie fan in my teens. My mother would say, the Saturday movie was my most important class in my school days.
Steve should have received an Oscar for his performance in Papillion. He did a an outstanding job as did Dustin Hoffman. I believe that film was underrated.
Such a great movie !! Great acting by McQueen & Hoffman, a very under appreciated film for some strange reason. Definitively should of received an Oscar.
If Jerry Skinner did a thorough research, he deliberately omitted the most important period of McQueen’s life. Pity! Steve committed his life to Christ prior to his diagnosis and finally found peace and received healing of the gross neglect and lack of love throughout his childhood. He looked forward to life after death. Steve said: “My only regret in life is that I was not able to tell people about what Christ did for me.” and so Greg Laurie, pastor and long-time fan wrote a book in his honour, “Steve McQueen. The Salvation of an American Icon”. He also made a documentary film about his conversion
A fantastic dedication to one of my favorite actors! To this day one of my favorite movies is Bullitt! I just love the driving scene that's way beyond what the movies were back when Bullitt was produced. Thanks so much for your research you've put into Steve McQueen's life, starting with his childhood (quite interesting) to the end, with alternative medical treatment.
You should check out "Steve McQueen: American Icon" (2017), which I saw in the theater September 28th 2017. 👍👍 It's available on DVD and I obviously have it.
Wow... I didnt know about the Manson close call..I thought I knew everything about that. Once again...nice job Jerry...Steve would have been proud of t your work on this biography .
Along with male actors John Wayne, Yul Brenner, Paul Newman, Sean Connery, Humphrey Bogart, Spencer Tracy, Marlon Brando, Jimmy Stewart, Robert Redford, James Cagney, Gene Hackman, etc al, Steve McQueen could carry a moderate film and make it a classic by his mere presence in it. Truly the personification of a 'Movie Star'. To pass at 50 is beyond tragic. RIP, Steve and thank you for the legacy of your incredible work.
Thank you for making all of these... they are wonderful tributes to all of them and a reminder of their accomplishments. 50 years old for Steve... he sure accomplished a lot. Life is short.
Bruce Lee loved Steve. Bruce always said the most impressive thing about S.M. was the respect his friends would get after being introduced by Steve. "This is my friend Bruce" that was enough.
INCOG NITO Wow. SM was that kind of a guy. For a guy who was mistreated by his loved ones he carried a lot of love in his heart. Being a mother I cannot even grasp the pain SM struggled with his mom. Then she passed away before they could really reconcile like he always wanted to. I mean yeah they were still in each others lives but they never resolved anything. Sad. But thanks for sharing. They say u learn something everyday. I guess its true.
INCOG NITO Curious about Esteve and Bruce with Sharon Tate, they think they were invited to that party but could not go, perhaps that tragic night would have been different with Esteve and Bruce there, a shame about Sharon Tate 💖
Apache Apachean Athabaskan Yeah sure Einstein. Get your facts straight before opening that leaky faucet. I'm sure that's why in addition to Steve his son Chad trained w/Bruce. Why Bruce & Steve used to spar together for fun. Why one of BL''s Jeet kune do instructors Dan Inosanto has spoken in interviews about their unique friendship, & great mutual admiration. And finally, why Steve was a pallbearer at Bruce's funeral. They were definitely friends, & you're definition of loose-lipped moron...

Another very informative video and what a Great Star Steve McQueen was and always will be. They don't make them like that anymore. Thanks again for posting!!
Amazing video! This is the best Steve McQueen tribute I've seen. Reminds me of my dad, he was a big Steve McQueen fan. Thanks for making it, it made me happy:)
Yes. Mr. Skinner's homely, unique style of commentary has the ring of authenticity. Bless him for his obvious sincerity -- a quality most rare in today's cynical, hared-bitten, beetle-shelled world.
Warmest Greetings from Bangkok, Thailand. Hello Jerry, I trust your well, interesting account of Steve Mc. Queen's life, I'm originally from Chelmsford, Essex. England & remember watching many Steve Mc. Queen movies, back in the late 60's early 70's, back home. Those were the days when most actors actually did most of there own stunts, Steve was a fabulous actor & was well respected in England. Thanks so much for posting, god bless all those fabulous actors in the US, during the golden years, gone but not forgotten. All the very best. Congrats my friend.

So as much as I wanted to ask for an autograph I just looked and smiled at him . Well , I was surprised to see he gave me the biggest smile right back ! I saw the most beautiful aqua blue eyes I had ever seen . I had heard he was dying of cancer and that he was drinking lots of fruit juices to see if it would help overcome cancer . I was at marina towers when the film company dropped a car into the river . Later the next day , we filmed a car scene . Unfortunately my only job was to walk across the street after the racing scene was shot . So I still have a pay stub from my work on this film . It was wonderful and exciting being on the set and a memorable experience, I will never forget. I was lucky enough to See his gorgeous face before he left this world. A GREAT ACTOR ! He only did 10 minutes of that car chase , Bud Ekins did the bulk of it. When the rearview mirror is not on the driver it is Bud Ekins.. when the rearview mirror shows McQueen well u get it, it was McQueen driving.
Jerry, your videos are wonderful. Like you talking about an old friend out on the back porch with a tall glass of lemonade. Thanks for all your work, it is appreciated.
Such a sad story; we look at these celebrities & maybe envy their lives but fame isn't everything. You did another great story for us, Jerry; thank you.
Jerry has an ability to turn out these well thought out and researched clips in a style entirely his own. You just can't fault him. Many thanks for yet another great clip.
A real talent . The Sand Peebles is one of my favorite moves. He was a natural actor no pretense. He was a force to to be reckoned with. A huge talent .One more great actor who could have won an Oscar.
The Great Escape. My favorite McQueen movie. Steve, that Army Air Corps leather jacket, that baggy blue sweatshirt, cut off below the elbows.....and of course, that motorcycle.
Steve McQueen was AWESOME !!!! He was one of my childhood heroes. I saw the "Blob" when it first hit the silver screen. I was around 9 years old and that movie scared the shit out of me LOL. I was watching for the Blob to crawl out from under my bed for weeks.
*I loved Steve and Yul Brenner in the "Magnificent 7"* *Steve McQueen had such a likeable nature and had that "Youthful, little boy look and essence".*
I remember meeting Steve McQueen back in 1977 when I was working as a life guard at the Beverly Wishire Hotel and he was actually living there at the hotel after his divorce. He loved his motorcycle and would bring it up to his room on the service elevator and not leave it parked down in the garage. Interesting good dude, it was an honor meeting him. Sad he passed so young..

Steve had a rough and difficult life. It's amazing how his life worked out. The odds did not favor him, but he overcame many obstacles to triumph in the end. Too bad he never got an Oscar for Sand Pebbles or Bullitt.
Michael Smith Everything that Steve was in was excellent. He was inspirational to me in my life. Showed you that you could become someone no matter what circumstances you were dealt in life growing up.True Movie Star in the company of John Wayne; Clint Eastwood ;Charles Bronson; .
Thank you for this Jerry. You did a wonderful job on this with this story. Steve's story is kind of a haunting one to hear about, but it left me with a better knowledge and appreciation for what Steve went through in his years. He has always been one of my favorite actors!
It’s a pity that Skinner, if he did a thorough research would have known prior to his diagnosis, McQueen had committed his life to Christ and received healing of the gross neglect and pain of his childhood. He regretted not having the time to tell people about Christ did for him. Shame he omitted that important factor.
The cancer didn't kill him- the stress of the operation did. The doctors in America warned him not to do it, the stress on his heart would not take it. It didn't. Hours after surgery in Mexico to remove a tumor from his abdomen, he died from a massive coronary.
I loved Steve McQueen because remind me so much of what Denzel Washington is today. And that is one man that stands out and you know who he is, just like Bronson Eastwood Charlton Heston excetera excetera. One thing you fail to mention was his love for martial arts and his teacher Bruce Lee to him that was very important. Also you forgot to mention the movie Bullet which is one of my top Steve McQueen movies.
You Sir are the very best narrator & biography teller on UA-cam I've had the pleasure of listening to on a lot of actors, thank you so much for sticking to the facts and telling the full truth & story of the hero's & crush's of my youth.👍🇺🇸
Hi a heartiest thanks to you brother for your esteemed feedback. I really salutes to one of the greatest actors the world ever had. He was really a diehard sportsman and a great actor.
I was living in the Denver area at the time of his death. I was working on my '67 Mustang Coupe, installing a Boss 302 mated w/ an M22 top-loader, when the news report came over the FM radio. Almost made me cry, 'cause I was building that Mustang in homage to his Bullet version, right down to the same color. I know his had a 428, but I figured the Boss 302 made up for some of C.I. difference. Very fun car that would pull 12 second quarters all day long. The M22 w/ the Hurst shifter was so much quicker than the original T-10 Ford mated the Boss to.
I knew Steve, briefly, as he lived in Santa Paula, Ca and hung out with a friend, Von Dutch, at my fathers gas station on the other side of town. What no one says about Steve was that he was ENORMOUSLY GENEROUS $$$ with his money, especially charities for disadvantaged children. He gets no credit for it because he gave his money away very quietly, not like celebrities now days who have their agent take a picture of them handing a check to a crippled veteran. FYI, the asbestos causing his mesothelioma was likely caused by a brief but intense exposure he received to asbestos while in the Marine Corp on a work duty gutting the inside of an old WWII Liberty Ship. To finish a thought, I do not know for a fact that he left that $200,000 to Boys Camp, but from what I know he was certainly capable of gifting it to them, AND having also given away a whole lot more over the course of his life, all very quietly of course. That was Steve for you, the "King of (quite) Cool".
He made great films, best remembered was Bullitt then Papillon, On Any Sunday, LeMans and many films that made sense. Even if he had a troubled life as a kid (who doesn't) he was still a great man and actor. This is why I myself liked him as a kid in the days when he did Western films and followed other films until the day he died. I miss Steve. When a new movie came on screen, I used to say: "Here comes Stevuchio!". He was my favorite actor.
I read his biography and I believe he was at least this generous but he was an inspiration to many including myself.. may his soul rest in his Lord and Savoir Christ Jesus, amen.
Stive was a great actor and a giver, and he will also be remember to all 911 Porsche owners and lovers of Porsche’s due-to a fact that although he was not with us his 911 made history. He is still an inspiration and an iconic man. God be with him, and god be with all the Grate actors that have also past away.
I was always wondering who the guy with the cool demeanor in the movie Magnificent Seven was...and watching this confirmed it! He was definitely the king of cool :)
Thank you Mr Skinner. It is sad that back then they didn't know how to treat mesothelioma. I've lived with it both in my lung & abdomen for 8 years. During some of that time I've been in remission.
It's so very interesting how you do your reports bio/info... I do like. Your voice is so very calming... nothing too crass or over the top. The Blob and Magnificent Seven... are two of my favorites.
Thank you so much for your marvelous work on this marvelous actor..I just picked up "The Great Escape" out of the $5 bin.If I can find Steve's other movies I'll get them also...His movies are classics.R.I.P. Steve McQeen..still love your work after all these years
McQueen loved motorcycles and dune buggies. Used to see him daily (almost) terrorizing the streets of Palm Springs and on the sand dunes of the Cathedral City area on Sundays when he was in town. He was also a frequent visitor to Idyllwild were he had a favorite coffee shop. He would ride one of his twenty-five motorcycles to Idyllwild in the snow.
He was an excellent actor and a man's man. Glad to know he was a better father to his children than his father was to him. I hope he was content when he died.
Christine Barney ... I think he was. he had become a born again Christian & he died with Billy Grahams Bible held to his chest. so, yes, he is still at peace! Thank God.
Steve was my very first celebrity crush when I was about 11 years old. Never stopped admiring him either. Great presence onscreen. Sad about his crappy childhood and I am glad he made his life better.
One of my favorite actors ,another gone to soon !!
Thanks for a great Documentary.
He overcome a lot of obstacles in his life !

Thank you for sharing, a great actor taken way too soon by that terrible disease. God bless.
He probably had lung cancer from smoking - and not asbestos fibres, but I
guess it could be possible.
Thank you thank you for this video.
He was always a hero to me and I am British and 68 years old in 2016.
Steve had a rough and difficult life. It's amazing how his life worked out. The odds did not favor him, but he overcame many obstacles to triumph in the end. Too bad he never got an Oscar for Sand Pebbles or Bullitt.
Michael Smith Amen to that !
Add Papillon to that list an outstanding movie.
Michael Smith Everything that Steve was in was excellent. He was inspirational to me in my life. Showed you that you could become someone no matter what circumstances you were dealt in life growing up.True Movie Star in the company of John Wayne; Clint Eastwood ;Charles Bronson; .
Another fantastic job , Jerry. You have one of the "best" channels on UA-cam. Todd
My fondest memories are watching Bullet,The Hunter and the Great Escape with my dad. Classic movies.
Another great Jerry Skinner video.
Thank you, Jerry. I knew that Steve McQueen had died but I really had no idea about where, when, how, or why. I do appreciate your efforts.
Couldn't look it up on imdb.com or Wikipedia? Such a hard thing to find out.... wth?
He died of Pancreatic Cancer, just like Steve Jobs and my late husband.
The cancer didn't kill him- the stress of the operation did. The doctors in America warned him not to do it, the stress on his heart would not take it. It didn't. Hours after surgery in Mexico to remove a tumor from his abdomen, he died from a massive coronary.
Listening this documentary is like a song, the voice is very powerfull.
I've just came across your bio's - they're very good. Thanks for uploading.
He is one of my all-time favs. He was taken much too soon. Loved the original Magnificent 7 & that great cast.
this was my dad's favorite actor. I can understand why. he was so cool
really great video, i liked McQueen way back when, he was a legend of the golden screen and will forever be in the halls of fame, thanks.
You left out some of my favorite McQueen's films: "The Cincinnati Kid" "Bullitt" and "The Thomas Crown Affair" I don't think he ever made a bad film.
Jerry Skinner, I really enjoy your videos, it's like listenin' to a favorite uncle tell a fascinating story..........thanks for posting.......
Thanks for listing Sophia. Jerry
Thank you MT for reminding us. Jerry
You Sir are the very best narrator & biography teller on UA-cam I've had the pleasure of listening to on a lot of actors, thank you so much for sticking to the facts and telling the full truth & story of the hero's & crush's of my youth.👍🇺🇸
I enjoy the way you do your videos, Jerry. They are very well written and informative.
My brother died in Vietnam and McQueen and Newman remind me of him. Just the cool of the coolest!
Hi a heartiest thanks to you brother for your esteemed feedback. I really salutes to one of the greatest actors the world ever had. He was really a diehard sportsman and a great actor.
Jerry your narration is flawless! Thank you Sir!
Thank you Stan, for watching it. Jerry
Lol
I didn't know that he died so young, tragic, very informative documentary. He was one of my favorite actors, and he is missed.
Many thanks for the bio. You mentioned many facts that I was not aware of. To this day Steve McQ still remains my all-time fav actor.
Brilliant. Never knew he and von dutch were buddies.
Rob Abreu :
I read his biography and I believe he was at least this generous but he was an inspiration to many including myself.. may his soul rest in his Lord and Savoir Christ Jesus, amen.
Stive was a great actor and a giver, and he will also be remember to all 911 Porsche owners and lovers of Porsche’s due-to a fact that although he was not with us his 911 made history. He is still an inspiration and an iconic man. God be with him, and god be with all the Grate actors that have also past away.
Another great video Jerry Skinner. I appreciate your sincerity as you narrate these video's.
A sad ending for a great actor, sportsman, and human being...he will always be remembered.
Thank you GL, hope you continue doing well my friend. Jerry
Thank you friend. Enjoying your videos.
It's so very interesting how you do your reports bio/info... I do like. Your voice is so very calming... nothing too crass or over the top.
The Blob and Magnificent Seven... are two of my favorites.
Thank you sir for making this video, he was my dad's hero and I got to watch his movies because of this. Kind blessings to you.
Loving all your shows thankyou very much..I am an Australian fan of your's and I love your beautiful accent xx
Steve McQueen was one off my favorite actors. Great movies. Plus he was cute.
Thank you so much for your marvelous work on this marvelous actor..I just picked up "The Great Escape" out of the $5 bin.If I can find Steve's other movies I'll get them also...His movies are classics.R.I.P. Steve McQeen..still love your work after all these years
You should have your own TV series.....great job.
+msapostle Thank you. Jerry
+Jerry Skinner I agree! Well done!!
I definitely agree! I love them!
And Jerry let me say - the music and your southern accent is so relaxing. Thank you!!!
Thank you for this video, Love Steve McQueen
McQueen loved motorcycles and dune buggies. Used to see him daily (almost) terrorizing the streets of Palm Springs and on the sand dunes of the Cathedral City area on Sundays when he was in town. He was also a frequent visitor to Idyllwild were he had a favorite coffee shop. He would ride one of his twenty-five motorcycles to Idyllwild in the snow.
I really loved and admire this man, loved most of his movies. RIP Amigo one day we will meet
I'm addicted to these biopics, great presentation; thank you.
What a good man! Wanted Dead or Alive...I Love It!
Great work Mr.Skinner
